Amjad
I think I hit full boost ( 0.8 ) by about 3,600-700 rpm on my TD04. I don't see why people complain about lag lol. TD04 is a fine over all replacement over the CT9 any day. Why do we keep having this same discussion? lol! Hear hear!

People who think td04's are laggy have clearly never been in something with a truely laggy set up!
_shaun_
think looking for a smaller turbo than the td04 is going backwards realy if you look back at the forum posts a few years ago people were saying a td04 was just to big the lagg would be crazy and the engines couldnt take it. now people are running massive turbos and the td04s are just the norm. to be honest when you drive one the last thing you think about is lagg. if you dont want lagg go down the supercharger route
Starbo Moorley
Td04s are fine, looking forward too see how bad my k3 will be lol.

The Toffinator
I think people are missing my point. What im aiming for is 1.2bar on a SLIGHTLY smaller turbo than a Tdo4, similiar power to most tdo4s at a bar, with less lag. Yes a tdo4 isnt a laggy turbo, but for a good point to point car around decent roads Where i live, why lose another 1000rpms or so for fuck all?As i said before, why run low boost on a td04 and deal with the "lag" when you can have more response?I agree on a forged motor theres probaly no point, but im not running a forged motor....Each to there own i suppose but i would rather have a bigger smooth powerband than a more peaky shorter powerband in a small light fwd hatch?! They aren't good. Slows you down poin to point, makes cornering less predictable and turns your car into a point and shoot.Loosing a 1000rpm makes the power band look like a pre ejaculation in a porno when it does come on boost 'o yeah STOP!' shorty
No graphs or vids im afraid but cars almost back so ill sort a vid for you then toff, and you forget that yes my vf24 is bigger than a td04 but mine is ball bearing where as a td04 isnt so spool is greatly improved hence gt28's that spool faster than td04's when using the bb gt28's. Im still keen to see proper graphs and vids of tf035's just for curiosity tbh. Hey if we all ran the same setups the starlet scene would be realy dull in fairness

Mad Mike EP82
I don't understand why you think TD04 is laggy. Most of the time I drive fast on country roads i'm 4500-7000 rpm always on boost. Your not driving your power band.
WallaceGlanza
I don't understand why you think TD04 is laggy. Most of the time I drive fast on country roads i'm 4500-7000 rpm always on boost. Your not driving your power band. If 4500 - 7000 rpm is your powerband then it's a fairly narrow one (I'm sure it's not actually that though), I agree with your point though but it does depend on the roads you drive as to what turbo suits, if you're a motorway hero then obviously a TD04 is not a problem but for twisty back roads then I would think it would be too laggy - at times I think I think my ct9 is laggy! The TD12 which tongs/enzo used to sell uses a TF035 compressor housing with TD04 internals and a CT12 exhaust housing (a proper hybrid!), imo this seems like a very good size/spec turbo for these wee cars - and for the type of roads I enjoy driving on. Chris from up aberdeen way was running one and got pretty good results from it.... That's a sexy powerband. ;) Edited April 14, 2013 by WallaceGlanza
daniel_g
260bhp on a hybrid is fucking decent !! Would like to know his setup ?
shorty
Yea good point adam, it is a very short ration tbh, maybe ill do it after the box has been altered as it will be far longer ratio's then. But as I've pointed out bb turbos spool better than td series as can be seen from any of the graphs on this site or tgtt

WallaceGlanza
Would like to know his setup ? Nothing out of the ordinary, no cams or headwork, just forged engine with bolt ons - zisco exhaust mani with external wastegate and mapped on emanage blue. Td04 to laggy for country roads Dont think so!!! If you want proof get yourself to chesterfield. Bit far for me thanks, as I said it depends on the roads in your area, just saying country roads is pretty vague. Some of the roads I drive have tight 90's and hairpins, so 2nd gear 30mph corners - even with a ct9 there's lag out of them. Weyro
that hybrid ran 260bhp at 1bar?
AdamB
that hybrid ran 260bhp at 1bar? It doesn't state boost pressure, thats atmospheric pressure. Would imagine its around 1.4 bar though.
