I've never heard of it lol. Hammerite also do kurust which is meant to do the same job never used it myself tho.

Yeah I heard of that, apparently its very similar to jenolite, apparently its more of a rust pervention rather than a treatment though.

We do jenolite at work,a few people have came in and said its really good stuff

Ah cool! My dads used it before but only on stuff with surface rust so it's probably not so bad, just don't know how it will fair up with this kinda rust.

My cousin and uncle have mg b's and swear by bilthamber products mate. Seen results firsthand and its bloody good stuff. Not the cheapest tbf but seriously good product.

cars coming on lovely now

I've messaged the guys at Bilt hamber just to get their advice, hopefully here something back tomorrow. I've got a few of their products lined up and they aren't badly priced tbh. Gota do a proper job, don't wanna be doing the same thing again in 6 weeks time lol.

Cracking on with the front tomorrow so should have another update then :)

Did some more work on this today.

I pulled the front carpet up the other day and gave it a good clean, but now I'm debating about even putting it back in, looks quality fully stripped :yahoo:

When I removed the carpet I found this plate that had been tack welded to the slope on the way to the bulkhead on the drivers side.

I've looked through some pics of other peoples stripped cars and haven't seen this before so this definitely OEM. Kinda got me thinking whys it there in the first palce though, I would associate with this part of the car getting rusty, although I did find some water sitting in the bottom floor skin, can't see it very well as it's full of dust but this is a cut out on the passenger side footwell.

I then decided to re-route the fuel flap pull cable as it was under, over and through the tunnel looking quite messy, especially if I was going to leave the carpet out.

Here is how it was before :

And this is it re-reouted right the way through the tunnel

Then carried on getting rid of the paint on the passenger side floor, nearly finished it. Suprising how quick it took but the paint is only thin so doesn't take much time to get off.

Hope to finish off that side tomorrow then start on the drivers side, hopefully won't take too long either. Will then need to pull the dash out and do the bulkhead.

Now on the lookout for a welder as well :)

Argh yes forgot about that issue, think you might be right there mate. I think I'll remove the plate just to check and make sure, then I'll weld in another nice new bit of material.

Just ordered some Bilt Hamber goodies to tread the rust I got. Should be with me by the end of the week then I'll get started on patching that up. Spraying and undersealing behind the rear bumper.

Recieved my Bilt Hamber products the other day

Went and started my rust treatment process today, removed the rear bumper, wire brushed the rust and removed a lot of the dead material. Then I used a sanding block just to go over it and remove anymore small pieces.

Before I touched anything this is what it looked like

After a wire brush, sanding, degrease and a wash with got soapy water this is what it came out like.

Then I pasted on the deox gel over the rust area's and covered with cling film to stop it drying out. Didn't get any pics of this as it just started to piss down with rain.

Hope to go back out tomorrow and check it, probably do atleast another application then see how the rust is from there.

Got round to applying my third coat of the gel today after leaving the previous coat for around 36 hours, this is how it came out after I washed the old coat off

On the large section at the top, you can just see it's started to go back to bare metal where it's coming through in silver patches

Applied a thick third coat and hoping this will be the last one to do, have wrapped it up again and will leave it for another 24-36 hours before removing.

Have to say overall I'm very happy the way it's coming out, it's not exactly a quick process, although only taking around 20 mins to apply. That said I'm in no rush, but would recommend this stuff to anyone! :D

Not updated this for quite some time. Have been doing a fair bit over the last week.

Finished off removing all the paint and sealant from the front of the car.

2013-09-19161710_zps3ba7ceaf.jpg

Started removing some bits from the dash loom, just a few loose wires nothing major. Also tidied up what I believe was from a turbo timer which was a right mess. Started out looking like this :

2013-09-26100002_zps485516b8.jpg

And finally after removing all that gubbins looked like this : Still need to re-connect some of the wires but need some gas for my soldering iron first.

FinishedIgnitionconnector_zps4460a128.jp

Didn't end up removing too much really as I still wanted to keep it a road car, still kept the heaters, electric mirrors (which I was contemplating on getting rid of), and keeping the electric windows. If I could find some windy windows then I would get rid of that as well but they are pretty hard to come by.

Also just started removing bits from the engine loom as well so should have an update for that over the weekend I hope :)

savage project adam some work goin into it all the same

thats some turbo you have there the size of it ha and good job on fixing up the body too

lookin forward to more updates

Thanks mate! Turbo's plenty big enough for my needs, although its not what I want to run anymore. Still got plenty more to do on the body, I'm awaiting delivery of my welder until I can finish it off, which will hopefully be about 2 weeks time.

This is how my dash loom is now finished, just need to wrap it back up :)

I've ridden a bike in winter, and it wasn't pleasant, mainly because I was getting soaked! haha

Damn you boys are like the devils! :girl_devil::girl_devil: Only good thing about ditching the heaters is all the matrix behind the dash as well.
