Whitenoize
clocks are easy enough to change. just your will mash your wrists when you try and put the speedo cable back in is it just a straight swap with the clocks mate?
TrisK
Engine stays in use the auto shafts you need box, flywheel, clutch, linkages, slave and master cylinders, pedal, shifter. All plastics stay the same. Bridge the two big female terminals in the center of the big plug that was plugged into the auto box and you need to jam the slider on the under side of the ign barrel up or the key won't turn I just center punched mine till it jammed up.http://www.ukstarletowners.com/topic/57966-any-guide-to-swap-auto-to-manual/ http://www.tercelreference.com/articles/auto_manual_conversion/auto_manual_conversion.html Theres some links for reading

mattyD
Pretty sure your going to need a manual ecu, hows a manual car gna work with an auto ecu?
TrisK
Pretty sure your going to need a manual ecu, hows a manual car gna work with an auto ecu?The car doesnt have sensors for what gear your are in. It has no idea what gear you are in. It doesnt care what gear you in. Maps are all done on MAP vs RPM. Gear is irrelevant You just have to bridge the connections so it thinks you are in Park or the car wont start.
daniel_g
Just remember daft things like clutch cover bolts and the springs to hold in gear cables etc.You can use all that from your GT, cables are the same. Shifter will bolt down no problem.
TrisK
Also the actual flywheel bolts are different, so get the bolts with the flywheel
mattyD
Sound, had a manual ecu in mine that was converted but if there's no need then not to worry
TrisK
well the ecu plugs are different from auto to manual. So if yo uwant to change the ecu, then you need to change the whole engine loom. Then some of the sensors are different, so you could have to change the whole engine basically.

_shaun_
From memory there's a 2 pins on the auto ecu you have to spice to make it work but I've not done it so not sure which
Andi-pandi
I've just done mine last week. you also need the radiator bottom hose and thermostat outlet otherwise the pipes rub on the clutch place and lever. to get it started you need to bridge the big pins in the plug at the gearboc end. there is a diagram on this MR2 site... http://www.mr2.com/forums/threads/4643-auto-gt-manual-swap/page2
