  1. no sorry feeler gauges... same thing different application no?? http://sheridanmarine.com/public/assets/images/shop/stock/1275346800/feeler-gauge-metric-1275585435-l.jpg mortgage forces budget cuts, so basically anything I don't need to replace wont be. engines on 85k (miles) and ill do cambelt but everything else will have to wait.
  2. will assembly lube do or is the answer oil?
  3. got a set from mike @ tuning-devs for £50 posted! ive read a debate on installing the built pistons/rings into the bore wether to go in dry or lube, whats your thoughts?
  4. yeh thought as much, was just trying to save £50
  5. i was just being safe cause i hadnt removed the crank and was trying not to hit it, i used panel wipe and just lashed it whilst i was drilling. what alternatives are there? also can i reuse the bearings already installed in the pistons and big ends? i havent mixed them up and the crank hasnt been removed??
  6. thought best do a mid year update... since i bought the sera (dream motor - 5efhe) i had to replace the ct9 so i could carry on driving the car. managed to source a 'cheap' td04 from Socks and by definition of cheap it would seem it was equally as dodgy as the td04 but as the overall performance was greater i was still happy with it depsite being a smoke bomb lol https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IvfiYoCkS1I i then pursued the route of running the 5efhe as a high compression td04 but to get away with it i needed to do a compression test: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pFA8QizL1E
  7. good news with the pistons but not so much on the block, gave it quick hone and you can see the scratch - shall i hone futher? also now that i have removed the pistons am i ok to reuse the bearings (they have not been mixed up since removal so can put them back exactly how they are)?
  8. as above im in need of 4efte Pulley & Oil Pickup to suit an ep82. AND a oil pickup to suit an EP91 will need to be posted. many thanks
  9. took these out my 4efte motor today and cleaned them up. imo they look ok but theres a few scrapes on them id like a 2nd opinion: the bores look pretty sound but im going to hone them anyway: i also noticed 3 of the pistons have a '2' stamped on it and the other has '3' - why is the other one different?
  10. its a long story but basically took a 5efhe out of a sera and put it in my gt so i could have a driver and rebuild the 4efte into the sera, once done rebuild the fhe for the starlet (and drive the sera). so basically i just have the fhe in the GT and thats where i encountered the issue but as you have done ive just ditched it for now... its not too bad
  11. stupidly left the block dangling on the crane without the pressure being locked in so overnight lowered itself onto the concrete and snapped 1 of the 3 supporting legs for the oil pick up. question is am i ok to use it with 2 or should i source another? cheers
  12. crisis averted the thread has been found ;) http://www.toyotagtturbo.com/forums/showthread.php?81256-fittting-power-stering-pump-on-a-5e
  13. Struggling to find the thread on tgtt, any links?
  14. Couple 4e- 5E questions. 5efhe block. The downpipe (td04) - does anyone do an extended downpipe or adapter or Is it a cut extend and weld jobbie? The Pas pump and bracket - I've put my 4e setup on yet now the bolt does not go through the hole, it's about 2.5mm off course, anyone encountered this? Think that's all for now. Cheers
  15. I've got a 4-2-1 5efhe mani spare for £50 delivered if your budget will stretch
  16. i think from what colins said they are all press type
  17. ah right i didnt know, havent got that far in stripping mine yet ;)
  18. yeh i figured it out in the end but what a weird thing it is. cheers
  19. is the gudgeon pins not held in by circlips? remove the circlips and slide pin out, disconnect rod from piston no??
  20. Right I always thought it was the centre hole. Thanks for clarifying dude
  21. strangely its like that on all the extended bits, could of been a previous owner. ill use some moleys. cheers ive got a flywheel puller tool so might see if i can get it off with that, its damaged now so if worst comes to worst ill just hammer it more
  22. need some guidance on how to strip these bits: pulley & lower timing cover (ive tried hitting it off bu have only managed to damage it so far) camshaft nut (ive tried to get a 10mm on it but just slips and cant get 9mm on, all the rest came off easy):
