From the sounds of it you might be better with a 4age swap. You can mount that so you can use starlet shafts (4efte) my 4efte ones were loose?. You Will still have to cut the drivers side chassis rail. But if you remove the power steering (change for electric?) and made a lower bracket to house the alternator you could minimise that cut. You could also opt to make a 7age, use a 1.8 7afe bottom end but a 4age (16v or 20v head and pistons) and a porsche 944 cam belt iirc and you have a good torquey motor with a fair bit of power also. I've done a 4age swap but opted to mount it more

Theres a big difference between your roads and ours though haha

Cheers buh appreciate it

Yeah that's something I considered. I've got enough room to fit the stock plenum in and that's about it. I reckon 100mm is the longest without compromising airflow but I doubt I'd get a filter in then. obviously I can try shorter which is what I was going to try as I believe shorter = better mid/low and longer = topend/peak power? I'm going to have a couple of runs done without the filter when I get it mapped to see what restriction that has but just for curiosity as I wouldn't want to run the engine unfiltered normally.

Just need a set of handbrake cables and you're away. Bargain Glwts!

No that's the only thing that I would have liked to have done that I haven't done. Tbh I'm a bit reluctant to open this engine up as it's low milage (26k miles) and i never feel engines go back together quite the same. I'm happy with the performance now so once it's mapped I imagine I will focus more on getting it balanced out and handling how I want it.

this needs a 4age, give it to me. i have one waiting to go in ;)

changing discs and bearings on the weekend, its a taper bearing so what should it be torqued to, they're not usually that tight iirc? thanks in advance
-
they're a taper bearing in the rear disc so not pressed it or anything, buy a new set of discs and it comes with them, as for individual bearings im unsure.

couple of packages arrived today. a pair of genuine toyota rear discs from Jamie_VF22. Cheers dude second is a set of mintex oem spec rear pads. will hopefully get these fitted on the weekend along with the refreshed calipers which will also get a lick of paint. Also spoke to keri at WMS to get some info on grooving my front discs, which i can do at work so i might rip them off one evening so i can get them done to reduce the squeal that they have. Then ill get the system bled all around, might even try adjust the peddle to take up any slack to give a nice firm feel. That s

Just received my new rear discs, posted out next day delivery with a tracking number that i didn't even need to use, very well packaged with lots of padding and even resealed the toyota boxes for transit so nothing came loose. top guy with quick replies! cheers

You can use n/a calipers but you need to use the caliper carriers from a Glanza. Then you would need Glanza 256mm discs and n/a pads. Or get Glanza or gt calipers and there'll probably be more options for pads

Pm iddy at idworks he got me a new toyota one.

As of about 6.30 a boat was a few hours away. Planes have been there, Seen stuff. Satellite images 'suggest' somethings there. So maybe by the morning there might be some news. Google mh370 and look for the likes of BBC and the guardian for reliable pages. One has a live update page to it all as well
-
Back seat up. Metal plate off and remove the pump housing then syphon it out.
-
Theres boats on route now. Will be in the area in a few hours so maybe there'll be some news in the next 24 hours
-
I doubt they would tbh. I think the gears are thinner, So wouldn't sit right. The 5 speed box isn't getting used. I'll pop it open at some point and see what it's hiding
-
I sold my 5th gear from one of my corolla boxes. That had a different ratio final drive so was shorter throughout. Still got another box left but is still in one piece. Also got a 6 speed lsd box...

I would take your plugs out and just turn it over with no compression by hand for a few turns. Then turn it over for a minute or so with the key. This will get oil all around. Give the plugs a clean. Drop them back in and fire her up. Let it get up to temp and let the fans kick in a couple of times. You should be good to go. Then give it a short run and give it an oil change
-
They're still not 100% though that's just the best finding they've had using some new technique locating using Pings. Still doesn't explain why it was there in the first place. It was hundreds of miles away from anywhere!?!

Cheers socks. I'd like to see a bit better mid to low range make it a bit more drivable. The cams were meant to give more mid range but in reality they did sod all in that region so I'd like to think the Emb could help there. Top end power is fine but obviously gains are always a bonus. Going to give it a service and fresh plugs. Might get a few runs done without the filter on. Have seen a few Dynos done with and without and it's been 5+ whp difference. Googled the ecu pin outs and would appear that the manual and auto ecu's use the same plugs so I can just plug it in and go which is a bonu

They all vary depending on spec. My n/a with a 4age is 940kgs with full interior and full tank of fuel. No driver My corolla weights 1120kgs in the same guise. They were both weighed on a recently calibrated weighbridge.

Naa my first two engines were from ae92's a pfl and a fl gti16. There's an old guy a couple of hundred yards from me with a ae101 fastback on some dished polish lipped rims. Really clean car need to stop and speak to him at some point. Tell him he needs to drop a 20v in it
-
Naa not yet, will be soon hopefully, depends on how different the manual and auto ecu plugs are. maybe a bit of rewiring involved! power wise, id like to see 185-190hp, this is n/a tuning at the end of the day so gains are a lot smaller. Oh and the speedlines are getting a refurb for show season ;) cheers dude
