Definately something wrong. The first time I test drove my CRX with them on, before any adjustments, it turned out that someone at the garage had adjusted one side to nearly fully hard and the other to soft, was all over the place trying to accelerate lol. Get the tracking done, and get the suspension set up a bit better, usually the rear is a bit softer than the front, don't go too hard else you will just bounce around, what I did was stick it on the middle setting and work from there (I like it firm but not like a bouncy castle). Also check that there isn't actually anything wrong (any pl

It could be anything, the geometry/tracking could need setting up, something else on the car may need attention, tyres, bushes, anything. Just because you have coilovers doesn't mean anything, you have to have everything set up properly else it's not going to work as it should. And it usually takes a while adjusting the settings until you get it where it feels right for you.

Yeah I was one of the lucky ones, but every year there's always a few accidents posted up on different forums. I'd just advise people to avoid bad weather in their EP's. Get a shit car for winter with some winter tyres (would do this myself but don't have any money - one of many repercussions of that accident).
-
Don't ever under estimate the weather... Avoid going out if you don't need to. I got caught out last year.

Stance is gay, yeah some cars look really good when lowered with wide wheels, but when every cock is jumping on the bandwagon just because it's in the "in" thing I think it fails. Especially when it's chopped springs on some shitty stretched steelies. When the car is taken past the point of being reasonably practical then it's gone too far, why have a car that's only purpose is to look good? Cars are machines, and should be driven. What happened to the days when a sensibly lowered car on some nice JDM wheels with a very small amount of camber was considered cool (and functional at the same t

Buying 2nd hand suspension is always a risk, I took it and ended up with good suspension, others haven't had the same luck. Strut braces are a good easy cheap mod. Not to go too far off topic, but with my Starlet I found the biggest let down was the brakes, it went well for what it was and handling was great but the brakes were rubbish!

Yeah he's got WMS brakes on his Glanza.

I have a mate in the same town who builds MR2's for a living. Engine swap, turbo upgrades, fully rebuilt engine, pretty much anything I want can be done just 5 minutes down the road. Which is why I'm not worried about the awkward location of the engine.

I loved my CRX, was a good car, would have another one but only if I knew it was pristine... but of course one in that condition is going to be worth a lot of £££... I think an MR2 is definately what I want though. Same straight line performance as a CRX aslong as you get a rev 3 onwards (very similar 0-60 time), but with a MR setup rather than FF, and it's a better base to build off potential future upgrades, an MR2 turbo vs turbo'd CRX, I'd rather have the MR2. Also it's more of a dedicated and focused car, whereas the CRX although they are awesome they are only bas

KYB New SR Special's shocks are great if you can get hold of some along with some decent springs. My first Starlet had those shocks, some -40mm springs, front and rear strut braces, 195/45/15 Toyo Proxes T1R's and it handled great and was very predictable. I don't have experience of a rear ARB but as you will see most people rate it very highly.
-
What's the grip like with these winter tyres then? Obviously you don't go hammering round but are they good for normal driving? I've always had Toyo Proxes T1R's on my cars and in the winter it's crap.

If you're comparing 1 bar or more then a TD04 will be better. If you're talking stock boost levels then there's no need for the TD04. But at higher boost/power levels, the TD04 will be a much better choice. Remember the biggest restriction in the exhaust system is the turbine housing itself, the CT9 being smaller will cause more of a restriction. Everything being equal, all the same mods, both turbos at 1 bar, the TD04 will be better as it can simply flow more air and is more efficient. Obviously this is within reason, as you could say a TD06 could flow more air but you just have to consid

I think I'm set on a mk2 rev 3 onwards N/A to start with, insurance costs and inexperience to RWD being the main reasons. 170bhp will be enough to start with. It'll be as fast as anything I've had before and I don't want to jump straight in at the deep end with a 240bhp mid engined rear drive car. Has anyone actually got any feedback on owning/driving one? Being sat in one is nice, feels like it was made for a purpose, nice cosey interior. Will be good to finally get back in a Toyota.

I also left the injectors in, the 5 main bolts on the manifold are awkward but aslong as your ratchet set has extentions and cv joint thing on it then you'll be fine. The first time I changed the manifold on a Starlet it took me a whole afternoon - now I can do it in an hour easily. It's not a hard job, just awkward, I've always done it from the top of the engine bay with the fuel rail and injectors in place, no need to get underneath or take too much off.

Just wanted a few more opinions on them, thinking of getting one next year to use as a weekend/occasional track day or on a drag strip (not aiming to beat anyone, just to have fun in). If funds allow then I think I'll get one, and keep the Rover as a daily driver. I'd start with a non turbo one and then move on to a turbo once I've got some experience in one. I have a mate (TB Developments) who builds these for a living, so working on it wouldn't be a problem, turbo engine swap wouldn't be a problem, etc... (link in my sig). Basically I've been considering another CRX, or a Starlet GT, or

I still come online regularly even though it's been over a year since I last had a Starlet. UKSC

starlets vs fiat punto's santa pod drag day

Be good to see some 4EFTE's blowing away some shitty Punto GT's! Wouldn't underestimate them too much though. They're probably thinking the same about Starlets lol. -
I'm not surprised, and if I were you I'd be asking your Alfa mates about a remap - you can gain performance AND economy with a remap on a diesel (obviously driving style dictates the outcome of it all). I used to be a diesel hater but now I love them. Not sure what it's like when you also own a 4EFTE powered Starlet but comparing my diesel (which has ancient technology compared to your JTD engine) to my previous cars it's great getting from A to B, fast.

So in standard form pretty shit, but can easily be tuned thanks to availability of parts and I'm guessing reasonably cheap, RWD, and a good base engine for any typical 70s-80's RWD family sized or hatchback car?
-
Not really into Fords so probably a silly question to some people - but why is the Pinto engine so popular? What sort of power to they put out?
-
Keep it! I do love the handling of them even in standard form they are great. Rovers are the sort of car you hate until you try one. Can't get enough of mine lol.
-
Probably cost more than it's worth to get back up to a good standard, so I'd strip the interior, get the welding done, fuck the bodywork, drop an engine in it and get it on a track or down a strip. Assuming you hardly paid anything for it lol.
