Degreaser works wonders, don't bother buying expensive products, my engine bay was cleaned with a couple of bottles of cheapo 99p degreaser, just spray it on (standard EP91 N/A engine so didn't really need to cover anything up), then just keep spraying more on and the dirt will just fall away. Then get the hose pipe on a very fine mist and rinse it off, it comes up really clean and that's without any effort! Just spraying the degreaser on then rinsing it off, and it barely cost anything! Once that's done start the engine and let all the water evaporate off.

Love these engines, shame they had to water them down for the UK EP91's. What's the deal with it being a 4 speed rather than 5? 0-60 time? And what's this N1400 thing all about, I'm guessing 1400 denotes the maximum cc of the engine so anything up to a 1.4 litre? And then as you already mentioned the minimum weight limit... It's easy to see why it's competetive, it's already around the minimum weight and it has a great engine, I've heard of these making over 130bhp with throttle bodies, is that right?

I'd like to know what was done to get it looking that clean and shiny, and what products were used?

Some nice cars there but on the other hand alot of shit ones too... not going to mention any particular ones.

Me either, my EP91 used to get called "the grannymobile" or they'd say "it's an old granny's car". -

Phil that's a bag of shit. The funny thing about this topic is that I know ALOT of people who don't like Starlets. -
Not a fan of the wheels at all but I do like these cars.
-
I'd say it's just a silly mistake tbh. Edit - yeah riko the UK MR2's used the 3SGE.

Wallace is right, with that setup it will just be like having one big laggy turbo, except with extra weight, more complications, etc... If you imagine one CT9 is enough to give an easy 180bhp @ 1 bar, think what it's going to be like with two of them. And to the people saying two hybrids, two TD04's or whatever, there's no way a 1.3 is going to flow enough exhaust gas to run them. For the cost and complications and considering it's such a small engine, you're much better off spending the money on a ball bearing turbo rather than bodging a pair of CT9's or a cheapo Subaru TD04.

When my old Starlet was wrote off the airbag didn't even go off! But then again the bump was so slow I didn't even feel anything.

Stop posting about it go out and rag the shit out of it.

No all you need is the manifold.
-
Had some other shit going on so going to watch it later on iPlayer aswell.

How could I forget, it's better than the fucking World Cup anyway.
-
I'd rather have an Impreza 22B or P1.
-
Cossie's are nice but I feel that Ford's are always way over-hyped. There are plenty of Evo's and Impreza's for example that are "better" but no one seems to be bothered about them.

I've just replaced the brake shoes in my Starlet because they needed doing and the handbrake wasn't working on the one side (MOT failure) although it was good enough to hold the car on hills etc... The brakes now feel much better but the handbrake isn't working even though it's been adjusted and feels tight to pull it up, it does nothing. Is the handbrake cable fucked?
-
Fairly close to getting this on the road now once the Starlet is sold, still got a fair bit to do to atleast get it driveable, replace a wheel stud, get the seats re-trimmed, sort out the TPS, and still got to do the fucking sun roof. Ordered some wheel studs and an amp wiring kit so should be getting the wheel stud done and get my sub & amp wired up. Steering wheel still hasn't turned up I am getting pretty pissed off with waiting for it now! So might ask for my money back and buy one somewhere else. Poly bushes/big brakes/coilovers will probably have to wait until next year though.

Got any up to date pics? Always liked these in white, best colour for Starlets I think.

As Idrees said, there's plenty of guides on google, also remember to shake the can ALOT and I've been told heating the spray can up helps too but obviously not too hot. I've seen both good and bad attempts at rattle-can jobs, don't assume it will always turn out crap just because it's cheap and easy compared to powdercoating.
-
Annoying and pointless I think...
-
Small wheels are ftw! But then there's the problem of big brakes fitting under them lol... I'd say 15 inch is probably the best size for Starlets although I wouldn't mind some 14's either. I'd consider going up to 16 inch on the front if it meant using some amazing brakes but that's the only time I'd have anything bigger than 15. (And unless it's a dedicated track car I doubt that would ever be done).

Lowered on standard wheels would look so much better than that, big wheels on standard suspension just makes the car look like a rollerskate. Yes they will fill the arches but it will look shit. You'll also upset the handling and acceleration.
