  1. His contact number is above mate. Won't hurt to give him a ring. FUDGE- Please get your act together or I will suspend you from selling here. Joz
  2. Thats quite a hike in boost from 0.8 to 1bar mate. The idea is the ebc is meant to hold the high boost setting you set it at. Its not uncommon for the dual solenoid to go faulty and they are £250 a pop just for itself. No have never heard any noise of any description from the solenoid at all so far. Joz
  3. If you flick through your settings 1-2-3-4 you will see the gain settings assigned for each one (some may be unused) so you can easily check your last gain setting. It seems if your last gain setting is indeed 30 then your gain levels are vastly different to mine on the CT9 where mine are higher (40's). The last thing you want to do is overboost and cause the chance of damaging anything so start lower man at less than 1bar. Don't rush it and get it right, you will get the setting you want Yes turn the gain value down to lower boost and turn it up for higher boost. Joz
  4. Relax mate My gain is set to 45 on my Blitz Dual EBC (uses same dual solenoid as the Blitz I-D) and this pushes my CT9 to 1bar on the dot. 44 sets it just under 1bar and 46 raises it to 1.1bar. On a very cool night it may rise 0.5bar on its own. Set it on a lower gain and carefully raise the gain from there. You only need a bit of flat straight road at wide open throttle to see your full boost each time. You will only overboost if the gain is set way too high. Take care Joz
  5. Im going TD04 very shortly String mate. I'll be running 1.2 bar on stock internals. From a few conversations I've had with Jay and Chris, standard injectors can be used for the TD04 as well variants of 315c, 330cc, 370cc etc etc. It will all depend on the setup (i.e what boost you will be running, in your case 1.2bar and your map/fueling) In theory larger injectors are only needed if you need the additional fuel delivery or your current ones are maxing out at max duty cycle which is pushing them quite hard. If in real doubt talk to your tuner or if tuning yourself, someone who does tuning. I've just got my mitts on a set of denso 370cc as recommended by CCM. Can't wait! Joz
  6. Cheers for the info gents Very helpful. Joz
  7. Am after one (38mm) for my new setup What brands are everyone using and whats the best place to buy? Cheers Joz
  8. Last thing you want to do is play footy near your Glanza mate. Glad its not serious damage, drive on and get the bumper sprayed and the mirror replaced later on if needed. Joz
  9. Hey Mike Seems like your CT9 may have been through an awful lot with all the forced boost from the bleed valve to compensate the leak. Mine is a vintage (over 250k km) rebuilt 1993 GT engine and ran a ct9a before I replaced it with a running ct9b. My engine used to run quite rich until I had it mapped recently. I know the smell of a rich exhaust but since the map it doesnt smell that way. The Ct9 was pushed pretty hard with the recent map and reckon that has started its demise (along with the launch control test!) Catch can wise there are a number of ways to have it set up and mine is rocker breather > catch can < pcv valve - breather outlet on top of can venting to atmosphere. I'm going to Jays to replace the pcv for a new one and may re-route it back as it is intended. Once you crank up the boost your engine will breathe heavier so it is vital all the airways are working optimally. The pcv does its job by opening under vacuum and closing under boost to prevent the reversal of exhausted gasses back into the crankcase but rest assured others have also run a gutted pcv with the catch can set up. I done a ton of research on catch tanks/pcvs lately and its mind boggling. On the pipe running to atmosphere it visibly and constantly releases gasses/vapour so Im having this check out in more depth. My compression test is completely even across all four cylinders. All the bells and whistles are still quite expensive these days (ecus and mapping) so it cannot be helped. I can tell you once you do get your car mapped it will be a different car even on the ct9 so look forward to the day mate (can't be too far away!) Im running an emanage ultimate I picked up 2nd hand for £200 and the field harness wiring (plug & play) £120 and a further £150 for fitting, installation of ebc, road mapping and tuning. Plug and play replacement ecus like Blitz Access and are £450-£500. Just to give you some food for thought. Still early days yet but lets hope a simple turbo replacement/rebuild will do the trick. The ct9 rebuild will be a great learning process for you and will also give us some good insight too. Seems like you really take concern over your engine mate which a good thing. Please report back with some progress soon Don't get me started on the price of fuel!!! Joz
  10. With the front mounted filter you will always be inviting boost creep especially in the cooler weather mate even with the ported wastegate. An EBC will allow you to control/hold your desired boost better with a choice of boost settings for the situation at the turn of a dial. i.e The weather is cool and you are boost creeping/spiking, turn the boost down a notch and it will level up. Likewise if its a warm day and your car is .1 bar off your desired full boost pressure, crank it up a notch. Full boost will definitely differ in different conditions, have experienced this many times myself. I'd highly recommend the Blitz Dual EBC units, VERY easy to use and holds the boost reliably. 2nd hand around ★200 star tokens. Joz
  11. April 24th 10pm - Discovery & Discovery HD MegaQuake - Hour That Shook Japan POIGNANT SURVIVOR TESTIMONIES AND SCIENTIFIC DATA CHRONICLE JAPANESE EARTHQUAKE AND TSUNAMI IN NEW DISCOVERY SPECIAL – MEGAQUAKE: HOUR THAT SHOOK JAPAN, Featuring Exclusive Video and Interviews, Premieres on Discovery April 24 at 10PM e/p – (Silver Spring, Md.) – Discovery Channel’s new one-hour special MEGAQUAKE: HOUR THAT SHOOK JAPAN will tell, through the eyes of those who lived it, the story of the moment the 9.0 magnitude earthquake struck northeast Japan on March 11, 2011 and the tsunami that followed, resulting in more than 12,000 deaths. Poignant testimonies and remarkable footage captured that day will reveal what happened in those crucial moments following the quake as a tsunami barreled toward land at 500 miles per hour. The special will also examine scientifically what happened that day and attempt to piece together when Mother Nature may strike again. MEGAQUAKE: HOUR THAT SHOOK JAPAN, featuring exclusive interviews and never before seen footage, premieres on Discovery Channel on Sunday, April 24 at 10PM e/p and will subsequently roll out on Discovery networks around the world. Discovery Channel and its production partner, Darlow Smithson Productions, includes in its movie an exclusive sound recording captured at the Wake Island hydro-acoustic station 2,000 miles away in the Pacific Ocean. The station belongs to the global monitoring network of the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO). The recording, made by ultra sensitive hydrophones at a depth of 1,300 meters, was subsequently sped up by 32 times so it could be audible to human ears – enabling people to hear the actual sound of a 600km long section of the fault line in the earth’s crust rupturing and grinding against rock with the power of 600 million Hiroshima bombs. Viewers will also hear the very personal stories of those who experienced events of March 11th. Firefighter Takayama Yukio was inside the nuclear plant when the earthquake struck. He will recall the sense of fear and desperation among those inside. The special also includes footage of Yukio and his fellow firefighters inside the reactor. In the aftermath of the earthquake and tsunami, Japan’s Sendai Airport was a nightmare – cars were strewn about the runway, debris littered the terminal and there was no power. Hear about the chain of events in an exclusive interview with the air traffic controller, Kibuna Yoshihiko, who was on duty that day. The special also features interviews with Americans who were in Japan on March 11th, including Paula Lutze who was teaching school in Sendai. Exclusive footage shows Lutsy in school that day. She was instrumental in rescuing children caught up in the chaos of the tsunami. Additionally, the new Discovery special will examine the Pacific Ring of Fire – a name given to the region devastated by natural disasters in recent years – to assess whether the earth’s tectonic plates are in a phase of increased activity, which could result in further seismic events. Through exclusive interviews with top seismologists and oceanographers, the documentary will piece together where Mother Nature might strike next. MEGAQUAKE: HOUR THAT SHOOK JAPAN is produced for Discovery Channel by Darlow Smithson Productions, where Tom Brisley and Guy Davies are executive producers and Simon Young is producer. For Discovery Channel, Stephen Reverand is executive producer. Joz
  12. Im in this position too Mike at the minute. You think to yourself is it the turbo or something else. The blitz decat should have nothing to do with it unless a gasket has failed. Does the smoke out of your exhaust smell like anything besides fuel? In other words does it smell any different to usual? I dont get bad smoke (not black/white or grey but its starting to smell a little toasty. Car boosts fine of course and Im only recently running 1 bar. Im off to have the pcv changed on monday and if that doesnt solve it, take apart the turbo. Im also running a catch can so even this can have implications eventually on your engines breathing. Excess oil in your intercooler piping is also a sign something is up with the blower. Thing is nothing is leaking oil, my engine is freshly rebuilt but it has always seemed to use a little more oil than usual. Will report back what happens in my thread. Joz
  13. Received my Defis safely and on time Made sure to include everything and was all well packed and as described. Can't recommend Liam enough. Quality guy to deal with and 100% trustworthy. Very happy customer Thanks for such a great deal. Joz
  14. How are you finding it John compared to your old ct9b and does it come with all new seals etc ready to boost? (after priming of course) How come you didnt go for a hybrid which is similarly priced ? Joz
  15. Sheer Madness I love it! The drawings and comments are pure WTF? The modern VanGogh of eBay adverts. Joz
  16. Check out this topic for the vids Blowby My catch can smokes half as much as that and it doesn't bubble oil. I'll also be replacing my pcv valve. Joz
  17. Im going through the same process mate, it seems to be early signs of CT9 oil seals on their way out. If you are concerned about your engine internals do a leakdown or compression test. Good consistent readings will tell you everything is fine with your piston rings. Valve stem oil seals can also be the cause of the smoke. CT9s all have a shelf life and they will eventually start to show early signs of seal failure especially with the increased boost levels that we all put them through. The blue smoke is from oil seeping out of the turbo's seals and getting burnt in the exhaust system. Im not sure if my exhaust is blue smoke or not but it doesnt smell the same, and this is after a map @1bar. I'm putting it down to the turbo as I have had a compression test done (results all consistent) I will be upgrading turbo once it goes, and am totally prepared for it. It still boosts fine and pulls like a champ at the minute. Only thing you can do is change the turbo for a cleaner used unit (£80-£100 not guaranteeed not to smoke/start to smoke) or rebuild your current unit if it is serviceable (rebuild kit around £90) or upgrade to a hybrid turbo if you want to stay CT9. If you want to further investigate if it is definitely your turbo you can remove and visually inspect it for oil leaks at either side and also your intercooler pipe at the compressor side. It doesnt smoke on boost because the turbo pressure forces the leak to be sealed. If the seals are going/gone then oil will leak and get burnt out from the exhaust housing when on idle/blipping the throttle. For peace of mind on your engine make sure to check your engine oil and coolant levels regularly. Emulsification under your oil cap would mean water is getting past your headgasket causing failure. I know the feeling, it can be quite difficult to 100% maintain these cars but once they are up to scratch they are very satisfying. Joz
  18. Its certainly more raw and lively Dan As with anything you seem to develop a heavier right foot lol. Wilwoods is just finding someone who sells them, fancy a set of bells as well. Will take some pics soon of whats done so far. Can't wait until everthing is fitted. Thanks for your support. Joz
  19. Rick thanks for your kind words mate Also welcome to see you back in the EP scene and on UKSC. Joz
  20. Hey Dan Just some small add ons really. Go my ultimate fitted and mapped by Chris last week for CT9b@1bar and it has given the car far better/more urgent acceleration and punch. At Chris's recommendation I also got hold of a decent used Blitz Dual EBC Type R for less spooling time which he also fitted, it certainly shows. CT9 is at its limits so Im saving up for the next forced induction addiction. Debating between racetech TD04L kit and TD12. One of the twin pot calipers is sticking so I see it as a good excuse to invest in some new brakes this month. Candidates are WMS, Wilwoods and KSports. Have a 5 point cusco roll cage waiting to go in when I can arsed to change insurance as current company will NOT insure one. Lastly got some red GT spec Razo pedals fitted and have some Defi Din gauges on the way from the lovely Sanchez. Just organising with WeeJohn for the install and to fix a few other little nitpicks. Also acquired some rareish funky 'Add Zest' speakers off Jay. Hope that fills you in, in a nutshell mate Useless w/o pics I know... will take some soon. Joz
  21. Its all part and parcel of owning an EP it seems mate Bloody damn well hard to keep them in showroom condition especially after a good boost session or it fucking rains lol. Chin up and just enjoy! A bit of slag never hurt anyone (says the cleanfreak ) Joz
  22. 2nd hand indeed mate Check a digital copy of Starlet Hyper Revs #44 and see for yourself the new price. Joz
