  1. No worries mate You will find a lot of other members suggesting the same thing, pass your test first and get some ncb and driving experience under your belt and then go from there. Starting off in a turbocharged first car will just end in a downward spiral in terms of everything. Joz
  2. Car insurance has gone off the wire this year, and even at renewal time you are bound to pay MORE than what you were paying before on the same policy regardless of your age, driving experience or gender. Companies are hitting even harder on young drivers. The turbo conversion can be expensive to insure especially in the uk. There is no 'cheap' way to go about it. If you register a lower class engine when you are really running a 4EFTE then you are falsely declaring on your insurance hence it will be void (you are not legally covered and basically not insured at all). So in the case of an acc
  3. That is crazy news Raffi mate and I'm very sorry to hear this. I've been the same as you and spent too much time/money when I could have been enjoying myself. I bet it was your pride and joy but at least now you can concentrate on other things. Plus you still have any of your bikes? Sadly you can't beat the system this time but I know you have tried your best with all the crazy regulations out there. Kudos (respect) for all the hard time/money/work you spent to make your EP into such a stunner, a red EP and owner I certainly won't forget! I hope you had some happy times boosting her whe
  4. They speed the car down very well when using half pedal for normal braking. After bedding in the discs and pads Jay did a pretty hard but short stop and she near locked up. I'm only using them half pedal at the moment until I get them rebled sometime next week and a few clunks looked at. They are showing great promise and should be working to their potential after the rebleed and more pedal pressure. I went for the Ferodo DS2500 brake pads in the end. They will need to be up for it as I will roadmapping with Chris in a few weeks, will update their performance as I go along. The car is a dail
  5. I can only suggest an extra resonator but it would strangle a little performance (maybe sports resonator) or a smaller backbox tailpipe i.e 3" or 3.5" which should sound sportier. 4" to 4.5" is guaranteed to be loud. I've even had a 2" fujitsubo tailpipe before on the n/a, was pretty sporty. Joz
  6. Cheers for all the recommendations. I bought genuine Scooby gaskets on eBay. So for those who wish to get 'genuine ' at a good price I can't recommend this uk based seller enough and they have very good feedback. If one can buy 'genuine' rather than 'as good as' or 'as thick as' gaskets for the same price or just a little more, it seems the right option to take. Joz
  7. Cheers Jonny & Rob, happy to hear you are appreciating the work There's still room for improvement though Have just bought genuine Scooby gaskets on eBay. So for those who wish to get 'genuine ' at a good price I can't recommend this seller enough. TD04 kit is nearly sorted, then book a doctors appointment at Jay's Garage for the surgery to take place. Joz
  8. Cheers Liam They just make sense mate, investing in the main safety of these cars will go a long way. Brake pedal is warming up and feeling good, just to add my bmcs to complete it. Joz
  9. Thanks Keri They are 15" Rays Gramlights 57C 4x100 - Offset 38 - 7J Wide - 2mm spacers were not needed but used regardless. Definitely enough clearance to house the heavy duty discs, however makes no difference to me as I will be investing in your smaller two piece rotors once they are released. FYI my old brake discs for the levin brakes were 260mm and wider. Cheers for all the kind comments guys. More updates to come soon The end is getting closer for this red ep.. or is it??? Joz
  10. I believe an update was WELL overdue lads lol. Many many thanks to Jay for his time yesterday to get these badboys sorted. Nothing ever goes to plan unless you have small slender japanese hands it seems! Brakes are brand new so will take a short while to wake up. The bed in process was completed correctly. TD04 kit is being sorted as we speak, which kit it is should be a no brainer Off to order the subaru gaskets now. Joz p.s Jay that was a sneaky pic! lmao!
  11. Nearly there Sime with the ecu side of things. Hyaku Joz
  12. Have sent Dave a message Sparks I also had a look here ASP but its near the same price as TMD. I decided to break the bank and finish this beast off. It has to happen sooner than later. Stay with CT9? Nah mate Will update accordingly. Joz
  13. Anywhere else uk based ? Cheers for that link Naz, did you replace any other gaskets besides the two td04, such as mani to block etc? Joz
  14. Only place I can find so far is TM Developments and I'm not sure they are genuine? Please recommend any other places you or people have bought them from/experienced good service etc. Also do I need any other gaskets besides the td04 mani to turbo and turbo to downpipe gaskets? All help appreciated. Cheers Joz
  15. Software, info and other downloads can be found on our emanage forum. You will need a usb printer cable to link up the unit and your pc/laptop like this one. If the unit when started lights up amber then it is a very good sign it is still active. A green light means 'plug cleaning mode' which happens when you turn on the ignition on wide open throttle (shuts of injectors when engine is cranked - useful for cleaning wet or fouled plugs and achieving oil pressure without starting the engine after an oil change. 16. Nom nom nom, welcome to the world of aftermarket engine management broski Joz
  17. I'd say both are equal in terms of braking performance and quality and many people use both in all makes of car. With the WMS they will be brand new and you will have all the customer support and future upgrades/consumable replenish you will ever need. With the Wilwoods you will not as they are 2nd hand, the brand is however well established. If you prefer your parts brand spankers then its a no brainer that you should consider WMS as a very decent alternative. Enzo uses WMS and I have my set sitting in the spare bedroom waiting on Jays Garage to fit them (upgrading from twinpots). Perfec
  18. Engine bills are painful ain't they Sparks Glad to see everything is still in the pipeline bro. I'll be back with a well overdue update soon as well. Keep it up! Joz p.s There are some serious hotties up your way (uksc gf thread), something in the damn water???
  19. Thanks for the update Keri Top banana. Same as Ollie, I'd like to know how the 4pots perform from cold/before warming up etc and just some more general info please. Joz
  20. Am waiting on my WMS kit to arrive as we speak Ollie and I'm upgrading from Levin twin pots. Hands down the Levins are more than capable for fast road use IF maintained and working properly however with 4 pots you have the extra scope for obviously more braking power if and when you need it especially if you are an aggressive driver. 4 pots won't be overkill and from what I know of, are the ideal setup for fast lightweight hatches. Most twinpot setups will be 2nd hand and are not guaranteed not to need a rebuild in the near future and start sticking if not maintained or underused. Once you
  21. Nice to see you back Matt Glad to hear you have been getting on ok in life. Joz
  22. Apologies for the late news everyone, it has been a hectic few weeks. I'm proud to announce we officially raised $312 for the Japanese Red Cross Society (they take donations in $ only) which equates to just over £212 all safe and sound Although the donations were few they are very much appreciated especially in these trying times and have certainly gone to a decent cause. We do acknowledge it has been difficult with so many past fundraisers for charity and events but it has made all the difference into what and where we are today. Every little helps and we have done our small part f
  23. The first thing is to search the forum as it has been covered before Some choice articles for you here Joz
  24. Congratulations Mr & Mrs Bower Thank you for sharing and all the very best! Joz
  25. All 5EFE Info is here Check out the thread with 32 posts for my input. In my opinion I would suggest an engine needs to be tuned whatever the reason (bolt on mods etc), even if it is running 'OK', it can be far better and more beneficial for the engine's performance and life once tuned (proper a/f ratios at the correct points of throttle without flatspots/knock etc). It is far more important once you start dabbling with the FTE as there is more margin for error especially with the unpredicatabilility of sudden boost pressures. I found even with piggyback tuning on the n/a engine, all I was
