Best place to buy Subaru TD04 gaskets from?
Jozinobi replied to Jozinobi's topic in Intake, Turbo & Exhaust
Anywhere else uk based ? Cheers for that link Naz, did you replace any other gaskets besides the two td04, such as mani to block etc? Joz -
Only place I can find so far is TM Developments and I'm not sure they are genuine? Please recommend any other places you or people have bought them from/experienced good service etc. Also do I need any other gaskets besides the td04 mani to turbo and turbo to downpipe gaskets? All help appreciated. Cheers Joz

Software, info and other downloads can be found on our emanage forum. You will need a usb printer cable to link up the unit and your pc/laptop like this one. If the unit when started lights up amber then it is a very good sign it is still active. A green light means 'plug cleaning mode' which happens when you turn on the ignition on wide open throttle (shuts of injectors when engine is cranked - useful for cleaning wet or fouled plugs and achieving oil pressure without starting the engine after an oil change. Nom nom nom, welcome to the world of aftermarket engine management broski Joz

I'd say both are equal in terms of braking performance and quality and many people use both in all makes of car. With the WMS they will be brand new and you will have all the customer support and future upgrades/consumable replenish you will ever need. With the Wilwoods you will not as they are 2nd hand, the brand is however well established. If you prefer your parts brand spankers then its a no brainer that you should consider WMS as a very decent alternative. Enzo uses WMS and I have my set sitting in the spare bedroom waiting on Jays Garage to fit them (upgrading from twinpots). Perfect when you are upgrading your blower and at times when you need that late stopping power confidence on the track Hope this helps. Joz

Engine bills are painful ain't they Sparks Glad to see everything is still in the pipeline bro. I'll be back with a well overdue update soon as well. Keep it up! Joz p.s There are some serious hotties up your way (uksc gf thread), something in the damn water???

Thanks for the update Keri Top banana. Same as Ollie, I'd like to know how the 4pots perform from cold/before warming up etc and just some more general info please. Joz
-
Am waiting on my WMS kit to arrive as we speak Ollie and I'm upgrading from Levin twin pots. Hands down the Levins are more than capable for fast road use IF maintained and working properly however with 4 pots you have the extra scope for obviously more braking power if and when you need it especially if you are an aggressive driver. 4 pots won't be overkill and from what I know of, are the ideal setup for fast lightweight hatches. Most twinpot setups will be 2nd hand and are not guaranteed not to need a rebuild in the near future and start sticking if not maintained or underused. Once you start abusing them they will start to fade (I was using Endless SS pads) and the hunger for more braking power will begin. From cold they were pretty good. By the time you have paid for said 2nd hand setup usually more than a couple of ton, you could easily put that towards a wms or wilwood kit with a bit more on top. Not trying to plug wms but replacement pads and discs are really affordable and they will be releasing bell rotors, perfect for the track! My advice is buy new, stay safe and happy on both road and track with a better one-stop upgrade. If you are keeping your V for a good while, consider them a very worthy investment. @Keri - Is the new prototype/development something I could have tried out? Feel like I'm missing out Joz

★ UKSC Japan Earthquake & Tsunami Appeal 2011 ★
Jozinobi replied to Jozinobi's topic in News & General Announcements
Apologies for the late news everyone, it has been a hectic few weeks. I'm proud to announce we officially raised $312 for the Japanese Red Cross Society (they take donations in $ only) which equates to just over £212 all safe and sound Although the donations were few they are very much appreciated especially in these trying times and have certainly gone to a decent cause. We do acknowledge it has been difficult with so many past fundraisers for charity and events but it has made all the difference into what and where we are today. Every little helps and we have done our small part for the jdm cause. Many thanks to ALL individuals and the Manchester lot especially for the generous donations Up-to-date info on the Tsunami situation can be found here The subject may be off the news radar but Japan will always remain in the hearts and minds of those who still care. I am sure the donation button will remain for the time being, should new donations be made I will forward them, however you may be interested in making the donation yourself here. Please don't hesitate to do so. Any suggestions on how we could have done things better, please contact me. Yours Joz UKSC Online Fundraiser -

A bit of a UKSC rogues gallery from the UKSC wedding :)

Congratulations Mr & Mrs Bower Thank you for sharing and all the very best! Joz -
All 5EFE Info is here Check out the thread with 32 posts for my input. In my opinion I would suggest an engine needs to be tuned whatever the reason (bolt on mods etc), even if it is running 'OK', it can be far better and more beneficial for the engine's performance and life once tuned (proper a/f ratios at the correct points of throttle without flatspots/knock etc). It is far more important once you start dabbling with the FTE as there is more margin for error especially with the unpredicatabilility of sudden boost pressures. I found even with piggyback tuning on the n/a engine, all I was getting was a better air/fuel curve, no power increase. Hope it all helps. Joz

That is some epic news for UKSC Congrats and alll the best for everyone in their new positions which will only serve to further improve the extreem ep brand. Our members are also what drives this site forward so thanks everyone for your continued support and use of the site. Joz

Chris Carson emu remap @ 1.1bar due to front mounted air filter kit. Boy did she need it and now all is well. Saved the engine as all was running lean. Cookie Dough Chip Haagen Dazs and acoustic guitar session now underway ftw! Joz ;) -
My Troublesome Turbocharged Terror
Jozinobi replied to WallaceGlanza's topic in EP91 Glanza Progress Blogs
Very nice addition Wallace mate. Joz -
Nice work as usual Jaystar ;) I will NEVER complain that I have an oil leak after seeing that, nothing i've had comes close. Im sure the crane brings back so many memories Phil broski. This time you can start fresher rather than what was available at the time. Joz

I've just done the mod mate (thanks to Jays Garage) and it will make you reach positive boost a fair bit quicker. The sound/ intake/turbo spool/noise is much louder which is usually muffled by the efi pipe. You will get addicted to it and it does promote chatter which I have found. Whereas with oem filter setup boost tails off at 6k, with the filter mounted in front of the rad it keeps going. You will lose a small degree of torque lower down but it more than makes up for it in mid-top end acceleration. I will need a remap tweak for my emanage because it now dets a little around 1.1 bar (CT9b just wants to boost and boost, + I have my blitz ebc set right down under a bar. It is ramming a lot more air in there as it is in such a direct air feed location, also the oem setup air intake location is so crap. I have also found less mpg but this is with full boost and no remap, and a fresh engine still breaking in = uses more oil (under 4k) + walbro pump which I believe is more fuel hungry. You will be driving a lot more on boost too as it is so easy to spool. The oem setup is restrictive with all its bends and nooks but does give slightly more lower torque and its quieter. For anything where you want more power up top and to rev more freely, front mount filter is the way. Im using Dean@RWDevelopments kit and it is great value for money and so far, performance. It was a tight fit for me and I had to modify the pipe a little but its in there and working well (airtight too) The only guaranteed way you will know if it works for your setup, is to try it. Its inexpensive to do so, and if its the last thing you are going to do to your hybrid/ct9 I highly recommend you try it especially as you have a bit more torque/power output to play with. Results will also be independent on a good map or fuel setup, remember that. 650cc injectors are surely way too big if you are still running a hybrid, or is it a TD04 now? Nothing to lose and if you dont like it, return to efi pipe and original airbox. There will always be benefits and drawbacks whatever you do to the car so its a gamble worth taking. In my opinion the car now revs how it should do, and that is without restriction under boost = its shifts Off boost is actually not too bad, not that you will be driving much under it. The only reason Im not boosting right now is my no.plate fell off and have to wait til Monday for the stickypads lol! Hope this helps. Joz

Only brand I know of/have seen for na/6 bolt fitment is the atb I have. What have I said that isnt true ? do you mean coming across a 6 bolt diff? Shame you didnt find out the brand when you had it. Joz
-
If its the na gearbox there will be 6 bolts holding the diff in. GT and Glanza boxes most commonly have 8 bolts holding the diff in. 6 bolt diff gearboxes did exist in early GTs. That is the difference and they are certainly not interchangeable unless the bolt structures match. Only na aftermarket diff I know of is my Quaife (imported old stock from Japan) and the UK branch doesn't list/sell/know about them. I run the 4efe gearbox with Quaife in my FTE conversion and you hardly notice it is there (silent) and not as drastic as snapping in and out (unless you purposefully abuse the steering) The spin both wheels method is not always accurate as aftermarket diffs all react differently. Most foolproof way is to drop the box and check it out or get hold of the previous owner. Depends how much you wanna find out. You are either very very lucky or your current diff is on the way out. It would be very rare to have something like that in a na box (but not impossible) The Kaaz is not meant to bang as much as you describe, more like a clunk at most when turning as with the Cusco. Joz

Go for the non-branded 10w 40 that your local Toyota uses. Can't go wrong, and I use either it or Fuchs Titan which they usually have too. Feel free to experiment if you feel the need. Millers is also well used by all EP owners. I found Castrol Magnatec to be too thin. Joz

Glad to hear of the pending refresh dude. Its the right solution and couldn't be in better hands. Joz

''cautionary tale'' (if thats what u want to name it)
Jozinobi replied to (NAS) starlet ep82's topic in Negative Feedback
Saw these mysef last week and all packaging they were sent is is undamaged which simply means they were damaged (even further than originally described) before being sent out. The busted/leaking pair have been adjusted by a blind monkey and are beyond repair. Coilovers are fairly heavy duty and you'd have to drop them off the eiffel tower and a bloody hub to dent the bracket like that. Make it your duty as a human being to refund the lad and then walk away with at least a sliver of dignity. Your days in the starlet community are done, as has happened to many before who turned their backs on honest others. Name and shame without a doubt. Buy new, buy safe peeps. Joz
