Glad you like the update lads, pics coming soon @Id - So much for keeping the cat in the bag Can't wait bro! @Joel - I've been sitting in your seats for so long I'm not used to the Recaros lol plus they are now too wide for me They are spot on mate, nothing can ever be perfect but they are a good height, nice and tight and most importantly I can now put my seatbelt in! In all seriousness thanks very much dude to you and Al and hope you enjoy your 98 interior. Could you please ask him if he'd be up for installing something for me after xmas? Cheers Joz -

★ Progress Update - WEPR Fmic Fitted & Other Goodness ★ The car progressed further on Monday, huge thanks to Jay re-installing the newly railed Evo Recaros and most importantly installing the WEPR Fmic which is a work of pipeart. Mild bumper modifications did have to be made (she is pretty tight) but I am very impressed with the outcome both lookswise and performance wise. All I did was the cleaning and being overly enthusiastic with the brake cleaner, whoops! Funky reverse scoop was also fitted, colour coding is for losers, JDM ftw! Another mystery ?JDM? part was also lurking in Jay's Garage so it would have been rude to turn it down, see if you can spot it. After installation we took her for a few runs to ensure no pipes blew off and that she would not be hitting fuel cut. Of course she did hit fuel cut and also triggered the eml on a few occasions (pipes were 100%). This was remedied by one turn back on the HKS actuator which solved the problem. I am still getting 0.8bar of full boost and the delivery is a lot smoother with noticeable added top end. It was a cool night so perfect for the testing. She is not running overly rich but there is plenty of scope for further tuning as the fuel is there. Any myths of slightly added lag are nonsense and the sound of the turbo whistle is so much louder and noticeable. If anything the car is even more responsive on and off boost! Plans are to either get the emanage ultimate on in the new year (to bypass the fuel cut instead of using a fcd) or sell it and invest in a full EMS that CCM supports for the next turbo setup. For now the CT9 setup is safe, reliable and enjoyable. 4x Uniroyal Rainsport 2's also arrived the following morning, so my plan of action is to have the Rays Gramlights powdercoated next week with sexy new rubber. They can also fit and balance the tyres at the same place so its handy as hell, saves me going to a separate tyre place. As for the colour its a mystery and I will be deciding that morning depending on what they show me. Its a one day turnaround so no pissing about Something naughty is also arriving for the EP but that will have to be fitted after chrimbo. Another note is I have spent the manifold money so its ported mani ftw! Installation photos coming soon courtesy of Jay's Garage. Joz -
I'd only do it if you are going to respray the bonnet to smooth the holes over. Just filling them in and touching them up will look really awful. Joz
-
Yes they arrived this morning Id Joz

Thats balls dude. If it was only the crank that gone at least it could be polished (like mine) but with a warped block its a nogo. Before all else fails have a look at member Thorpy's block he has for sale, it looks mint. Joz
-
I've already mentioned what is needed above Joz

Back to the PS2 then... Im actually playing PSONE rpgs at the moment so Im not in a rush to get it lol! Joz

The standard 5EFE Paseo exhaust/manifold is exactly the same size as the starlet one bar some different mounting positions as it is a different car underneath. The 5EFE engine block is 10mm taller however the difference it makes to manifold fitment is minimal. The uprated OBX mainfold is 2" and it will fit the engine side of your starlet but not the exhaust side as it is 2", however it can easily be made to fit with either tapered welding or getting a full 2" system to mate it to, like my old Fujitsubo system. The downpipe which comes with it does not line up directly in the standard postion but a skilled exhaust fabricator will be able to re-route it for you if you decide to get a new exhaust, the actual manifold flange will also need a little shaving to clear the power steering pump. Any more Q's don't hesitate to ask, its what we are here for These cars are all about modification so its nothing new. Joz
-
You are quite right Even if there was a full system available (4EFTE engine has TRD exhausts available) it be probably more than the Blitz Realize. Most top parts often cost left nuts but so worth it if you love your project. Joz
-
There are the Blitz realize systems and also 2nd hand systems from yahoo auctions japan. An uprated exhaust manifold will also unleash a little more power and change the power band of your car. My old Fujitsubo Legalis R n/a system Left - OBX 5EFE 4-2-1 manifold (eBay) Right - Hotshot 4-1 manifold (Very rare, made in USA and discontinued) Joz

Not many of us have experience with the C140 as all our boxes are 5 speed (both turbo and non turbo) I use a 4EFE 5 Speed gearbox (under 50k) in my 4EFTE conversion with uprated ATB differential and it gives the car slightly quicker acceleration but does give lower top end as Driver stated. Its running fine on a stage 1 modified setup (ported mani, decat, exhaust, actuator, fmic, 0.8bar). I had the diff installed when my car was still 4EFE so I decided to use this gearbox in the meantime. It is starting to get a little temperamental (harder to get into) in 2nd gear and reverse but I put that down to actual wear than from being affected from the power out of the car. Hopefully some extra lubrication/grease will sort it out. If and when it finally goes I have a spare gt gearbox that I will get reconned and a new ATB installed or buy one that is ready to go. If your box is healthy it may be worth a try but I'd still highly recommend you get the FTE gearbox in the first place over the 4 speed as that will be one less worry to think about. Hope this helps. Cheers Ryan I'm gonna leave them bare for now. Would rather the £ went towards powder coating my rims. Joz -
I'd go for the same size plates front and back ali otherwise it'd look odd ;) You have a choice : 12"x6"- Dinky 13"x6.5" - Legal 12 3/4"x6.5" - Legal Jozspec They will all pass MOT as long as the fonts are legal, as long as you get them done officially (motor factors) they will be spot on. Joz
-
Your local motor factors will be able to do number plates for you mate and be legal but you have to provide your car's registration docs. My place quoted that for import plates the rear size is 12 3/4" and the front 13x6.5. Personally I wanted them as dinky as possible as well as legal fonts so.. I opted for 12 3/4" x 6.5" front and back and they have passed MOT which is the most important thing. The plates can easily be smaller but for a happy medium I went with this size and won't look back. I've had 12x6 before but this size fits the Glanza front bumper plate recess spot on and I also have an n/a numberplate recess which looks 100%. Joz

Cheers Lew Pretty sure the Blitz decat has released a bit more but its all about how it drives at the end of the day. She is really reliable at the moment and the Meisters are on soft settings to deal with the awful roads. Joz -

★ Project Akai Kodou's 1st Dyno Visit @SS ★ Long overdue update when I went to have the car checked and dynoed. Bit of EPorn for you. If you haven't noticed, SS tunes starlets The dyno was buggered that day which we duly found out She had about 5 runs until SS confirmed it was the dyno playing up, suspected wheel bobble I think not :B SS just had their dyno 'serviced' and tightened so I was the 1st to use it since, normally its 100%. Car is safely estimated at around or over 140bhp from one run where it did read right, which is about right for the engines new condition and few mods. Atho the vids are not entirely meaningful they are a quick insight into SS's recent setup and how things can easily go wrong on the day. I will be happily returning once I have been mapped by CCM. Cheers to Jay and Steve for the day out. ★ Vids ★ ★ 1st Failed Dyno Run ★ Dyno Parameters Quick Peek ★ Parameters Going Haywire ★ Rays View Other updates now that the EP has passed MOT are a visit to Jay's for the WEPR FMIC fitting next week and the long awaited return of my Evo Recaros with new custom rails, can't wait to actually sit properly again. Teething problems seem to be over so there are no more oil leaks now she is sorted. All I can do now is enjoy and fill her up. I'm leaving the b-pillar bars slag bare metal for the time being. Car is much sharper and boost is reached almost instantly thanks to the Blitz decat, it is almost impossible NOT to dump in town lol! Desparately need new rubber, Rainsport 2's will get here from Camskill end of the month. Currently loving it and the bug has bitten me again. More updates/parts coming soon Joz -
They wont have them any earlier for you mate Uniroyal's production for the entire uk market gets here 26th Nov. Don't jump the queue Joz
-
Im on Eagle F1 GSD-3's 195/50/15 and they are pretty good in the dry but could be better in the wet. Check online for reviews on the Rainsport 2s mate, defo a top tyre. They are not dedicated rain tyres but they have the best grip in the wet and also keep down wheel spin. They are also a harder compound than other summer tyres hence the extra grip and wear down much less. Winter tyres are a completely different matter and the treads etc are far from sporty. I have waited one month for camskill to get them in stock paid for and all, that is how badly I want them. Oh and the price for them delivered to your door is painstakingly sexual. Joz

Quite a few questions asked and Kennedy doesn't actually know what he needs so it'd be best to have this in technical for future reference For the record Im not using longer wheel studs or spacers on my twin pot conversion either. Its all about having an ideal brake disc size which will give you the happy medium. I had mine sorted by mc_chu so I couldnt tell you the spec besides the fact they are 260mm. Cheers Joz
