Edited my post bud, little tip
-
Even if it was slightly greasy, dust coating it would have covered the spots. Its either to heavier coating or moisture or damp/cold has effected it while its cured. Sand it back down, give it another dust coat of colour and re laquer. It would have been the laquer stage that fecked up though.Looks very much like to heavy a coating or moisture.Does it look like tiny snowflakes in the clearcoat? Also boil the kettle, fill a bowl up with boiling water... and sit the can of colour, laquer, primer in it for a good 5mins untill the cans warm. It basically helps build up pressure inside the can which will help spray a fine even mist, rather than splodgey spray.

repairing my live sports splitter( HELP )
Glanza_Ragger replied to turbo_time's topic in Exterior Design
Simple. 1) Fibrefill. (Its a big tub, size of a large bodyfiller tub full of lovely fiberglass strands pre mixed with resin, you add the hardener and it sets like a brick) 2) P38 Body filler (Buy the easy sand type, makes sanding it a ton quicker and easier) 3) Masking tape (to hold everything together whilst youre fiberglassing it) 4) Wet and dry sand paper (say 4sheets of 120 / 4sheets of 240 / couple sheets of 400upwards paper to finally smooth filler prior to paint) 5) hair dryer, to heat the fibrefill up so you dont need to hold it for too long (hot air on fibrefill = fully hardened fiberglass in under 2 mins) 6) a slave to help you hold the pieces together whilst youre bridging them and to help you sand the filler. Once you got them, which can all be bought (other than the slave) cheaply from a bodyshop supply shop (look in yellow pages for local shops) start hacking the splitter. Line the halfs of splitter up, so there perfect, tape them together with the maskin tape. Mix 3/4 fibrefill with 1/4 hardener and with a spatula smear the fiberglass paste ACROSS the join, you will want about 2inches minimum overlapping the join either side.Paste the layers on in thin layers otherwise it'll take forever to set. Completely seal the join with the paste on the inside where you cant see then blast the paste with hot air from the hairdryer and itll set within minutes.. Lay another layer of fiberglass on, keep building it up untill the join is strong and theres no risk of the join splitting. Flip the splitter over, so you have the side you want painted facing you now, give the join a sand over with some 120 paper, just to make sure its smooth. Mix 3/4 p38 body filler with 1/4 hardener. Using a new flat spatula, push the filler into the seam, and wipe down the join. blast with hot air untill it sets.Give it a sand with some 120 then give it another wipe over with some more filler.Keep sanding and re applying filler untill you cant feel any seams, and its dead smooth by touch. Do that to all the other joins, then give it all a sand over with finer paper. Clean it off using a tack rag and then lightly give the splitter a coat of primer.Just a dusting though.Give all the seams a light sand with some 400ish paper and it will reveal any pinholes in the filler or high/low spots because the primer wont have been touched etc. If so, give it another sand/coat of fillter . Jobs a goodun. Get it sprayed and thwack it on zee car. Admire the once jigsaw splitter whole again Craig. -
If youre on a tight budget, its best not to try and modify one.Tuning on a budget normally ends up with unhappy faces, and lots of swearing like, "f#cking fuel cut defender pile of w#nk" 4efte exhaust systems are very restrictive. So you will want to dump the original system and get a FULL performance system. No point just changing the back box because it looks proper bo, when you have the rest of the system the size of a maccyd's straw. Next thing would probably be air filter, which i would personally suggest an uprated panel filter inside the original box running the oem air feed, or an open filter like an apexi/power enterprise relocated.. And an uprated adjustable actuator. That will give you more stable boost with out dropping off or spiking like the oem ones do due to age and wear. Then before anything else, i would seriously think about the handling/braking side of things.Starlets arent amazing in either departments. So before you go hammering it, you should be able to come to a stop and with out rolling the thing. DONT just fit a fcd and thwack the boost up. If you cant afford to tune it, then leave it standard or keep saving untill you can do it properly. Craig.

What it if was a hench looking rottweiler? Would've written the poor car off whilst the dogs still standing there in one piece, un dazed thinking "wtf??"

You only need some rings for youre neck, plates in youre lip etc and some face paint, then you could go witch doctoring Looks painfull bro Craig..

You do know you wont be able to cut them and rejoin them with any kinda strength because you'll need to reinforce the cut from behind..Which would mean laying some fiberglass on them so they wont sit flush against the headlight. So in that case, ill give you £26 for them Seeing as there only copys anywho Craig.

Ouch You shouldnt really use laquer on cf, it generally sinks straight into the material, and it looks wank. Get some of the epoxy resin, have you ever used fibrefill? that fiberglass resin paste that you use to do bodywork, filling large holes and spaces... Well it sets a bit like that, UBER hard. You will need to use a spatula to put it into the cracks and any bits that have flaked off...Trying to push out any air bubbles. You will see the bubbles in it, so it shouldnt be too hard... Paste it on, so its ever so slightly higher than the surrounding area..Then using fine like 1500 upwards wet and dry, sand it so its smooth..If theres any air pockets that you can see, like holes in the resin, give it another paste of resin then sand again..Then just use a cutting compound and alot of hard work to bring it up like glass again. Its easy to get it looking spot on with a lot of patiance bud, also dont resin it outdoors, as youll get bugs and grit lay on it, take it into youre kitchen or somewhere clean and warm to resin it..Watch out for fumes though as its seriously savage smelling stuff As Rick said, you'll only need a small tube to do that repair, dont buy a whole tub of it, that would be enough to re-lay like 50 bonnets Good luck mate, its a shitter because i love that splitter <-- rhymin mofo Craig.

I say leave it open bud.If you get an open mesh its not going to stop any stones from hitting the fins anyway,It'll just make it look untidy. Allthough if you do want some, even though i hate the place, halfords is probably best because they sell the long packs of it.I bought some not too long ago to mesh the rear jam bumper.Think it was about £16 for some basic chicken box stylee mesh lolz Craig.

Its amazing just how many of us all agree on something for once At the end of the day, the people who make the rules dont have to put up with living with the general type of people that are around nowdays..And its a shame that theres getting more and more of the numb headed little numptys. Idrees, you will get it sorted bro and it'll be looking just as spanking as it was before.Just a piss take that youve now got all this grief through no fault of youre own! Nightspirit, that was an amusing read..Good on the bloke.Bet the pikey scum got a big suprise when some huge hench bloke taped him on the shoulder and asked what hes up to in his building I can just picture the look on his face now. "er this isnt my house...oops" BOSH! Craig.

Breathers are allways important.Dont change the oil? Im pretty sure its better run be running clean oil than caked up treacle. I could be wrong though You could assume many things, but youll just have to service it, and give all the lines a clean and if its no better, compression test it.That will tell you which cylinders un healthy.
-
lolz now thats an idea. This guy constantly goes along the road smashing car windows and kicking the crap out of them
-
Its all about priorities mate! But as everybodys said allready, dont sell it bud, i love it too much to see it go to somebody who may not treat it as well as you  Craig.
-
Hes allready stated its an na If it smells of oil, its a bit of a giveawaye that it more than likely is oil lol As stated, if it hasnt been serviced in a fair while, give it an all over, fuel and oil filter, check and replace sparks etc. Run some fuel treatment through it then give it a decent run on a motorway. If its still smoking on idle, then youre next best bet is to compression test it then let us know the results. That should give you an indication on the engines health . And about the oil, i allways run millers..Slightly harder to get hold of, but its top quality stuff.Allthough castrol is fine. Dont let Ecks scare ya
