  1. Thanks Ya'll. Needed to step up the game, too many clones Prolly give it 5 years and everyone will have done this too lol! Getting excited after today! More on this below... The engine is going in, in stock form first, be it with a different sump pan. Going to aim to run it around 300bhp. Safe & Sound Setup to test the car, make sure its all good. Then if all goes well and the car feels/drives nice, I'll build an engine. Then it really is a case of how much power do you want. The aim is around 600bhp+ on full boost. The challenge will be to make as much of that as useable as possible. If its only useable at 450bhp. So be it, at least it will be reliable! I'll most likely be using a modified version of the Precision 5858 all being well. Yeh man. Sidewinder Manifold is the only way of doing it. There is simply no room in the EP91 bay to fit a decent sized turbo behind the engine. Should work well though, Im sure Jamie @ Race-Tech will do a stunning job as always with the manifold. Looking forward to seeing it! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Well, today was the first day of engine mounting fabrication! Sterling job by all, especially Ben for his hard work! All the old engine mounts and the battery tray were completely removed this morning, to make space for the new mounts! The engine, is actually very tall in its dimensions. So it was important the engine didn't hit the bonnet, but also didn't give me about 1 inch of ground clearance! We looked back through woodsport's 2zzge conversion pictures. Placed the engine where they had it. Was actually quite shocked. That EP82 must of had no ground clearance at all! So after modifying an MR2 Master Cylinder to fit, removing the spring loaded ancillary belt tensioner, there was plenty of space in terms of depth. We then fitted my bonnet and eyed up the clearance up top to give me as close to standard ground clearance we could. All while trying to keep driveshaft angles as straight as possible! Ontop of that, due to the gearbox conversion plate and using a much fatter gearbox. The passenger side chassis leg was hugely notched to suit. This was quite alarming, seeing such a huge chunk of the chassis leg completely gone. Good news is, even with my 15x6.5 ET37 Ultralite G-Spec Alloys. I can get full steering lock Bonnet/Engine Clearance At the end of the day. Both the drivers & passengers side mountings were mocked up and the engine was swinging on them. Perfect! So tomorrow there going to crack on with rear lower engine mount, to allow the engine to sit in place unsupported! But its in!!!! Also, tested a full size starlet radiator back into the front of the car. Looks like an alloy version will be ordered then! Plenty of space for nice big boost pipes on both sides! More to come Folks!
  2. Some very good guesses here people. Some right. Some Wrong. Few replies Ill reply too tho! Not impossible at all. See below LOL, Erm NO LOL, Erm NO NO NO I don't hate Honda. Its just like admitting defeat. May as well just buy a civic. Ha Gay Altho respect where its due. Best 4 pot engine out there... Far Far Far too heavy bud! Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo I guess its about time I let you all know what the plan is so here goes. I have been planning this since the start of summer when the most unlucky year for me was just starting to unfold. First off though ill explain my reasoning for doing what im about to do. 4E-FTE's are great. There lightweight, small, easy to work on. etc However they do have some problems when it comes to extracting large power outputs... The biggest one being the gearbox's available that fit onto them. For me, 430bhp was way way way too much for the gearbox and the forces involved was just ridiculous. My latest gearbox failure. Failed in such a way the 2 gearbox shafts, were forced apart by the helicut gears and had worn away the ends of the gearbox casing. Now straight cut gears would of course fix this issue. However, the gearset is £3500, that's before you assemble it all, with a proper shifter. But even then, its still going to wear out. If that wasn't enough, you then have a box that is so loud you couldn't hear the engine over it and doesn't really make it a road car anymore. The second point is the want/need to be unique. When the car was first built, it was pretty unique. Many of the cars unique points have been copied now. So its time to up the game/bar yet again and try and create something that no one else has done... So that, in total. Writes off the standard engine.... So.... What engine do we put under there.... Honda engines would be the logical choice. Cheap, make amazing power in stock trim and readily available. However. Its sort of like admitting defeat. I also just couldn't handle the Honda boys going "had to use a proper engine to get performance". bla bla bla. So that ruled that one out. Its been done 10000 times too. The 3S-GTE was my next thought. Again readily available, VERY strong, proven to make tons of torque, good range of goodies. However, the weight and size of the engine is astronomical compared to a 4E-FTE. There nearly twice the weight with a gearbox combined! Which would play havoc with the cars balance! 4AGE was another thought, but that's also an old engine now and clocking on a bit! Not to mention there NOT easy to get hold of and parts are rare! So, after a lot of thinking, it leaves me with only one logical option! A 2ZZ-GE Conversion. Now, lets look at the good news first... The engine is a lot newer in terms of design. The engineers at Yamaha & Toyota that developed the engine know what there doing. The engine makes just short of 190bhp in N/A trim with a stock rev limit of 8200rpm. More Power & Torque, with a much more progressive setup that's much more useable. A full boost powerband that is going to be much longer then before. It already has all the Crank Sensor/Trigger Wheel & Ignition Coils a 4E-FTE would require to reach large power outputs. Despite its overall larger size and displacement, the actual engine is lighter then a 4E-FTE. Thanks to Alloy Block w/Cast Liners. There on a timing chain rather then a belt. There designed to rev, which means there strong in all the right places. They have been fitted to a lot of cars and well tested. Corolla & Celica T-Sport, MR2, Lotus Elises. etc This is all good news. I know this has been done before in NA trim in a EP82 GT Turbo, but this is a worlds first in boosted format in an EP91 Glanza V I do believe. So at this point, the hunt was on for a damaged donor car, to rip its heart out! I found this 55 Plate Corolla T-Sport on ebay with only 72k on the clock. Won it and for a total of £800. Had it delivered to Race-Tech directly. It looked a lot worse then it actually was. The rad wasn't broken, it still drove perfect but most importantly the engine was perfect. I stripped the non required parts out, I've sold a lot of the parts already. Which means I've very nearly got myself a free engine! After doing lots and lots of reading. These engines do have a few weak points. The most important one being Oil Starvation due to a poor sump design. So I purchased a Moroso 4 Trap Door Baffled Sump Pan. With fittings for Oil Temp Senders & Turbo Oil Return, which would have been required anyway. Perfect! Its actually a pretty stunning bit of kit too! This wont be fitted until the engine is actually mounted of course... So that's the engine side of things sorted for now. The engine is going to be boosted in stock unopened form first. Ill forge a second lump and swap them over at a later date sometime. The priority at the moment is to enjoy it again! Which brings me onto the gearbox... Now, the gearbox on these cars is a 6 speed unit and is a fair bit stronger then the C52 starlet gearbox. However, it still isn't too happy running anything over 400bhp. So after talking with a few experts, the decision was made to use a E153 LSD gearbox. Commonly found on the 3S-GTE Rev 3 MR2 Turbo. So off came the Corolla T-Sport Gearbox. Luckily for me, the MR2 E153 gearbox is no bigger in terms of casing size. Ratios look good too! The MR2 5-Speed gearbox is immensely strong. They have been tried and tested to nearly 1000bhp/700lbft in RWD format in the old MR2's. Making them practically indestructible in a FWD environment. Obviously the gearbox from an older Toyota wont just bolt on. So... A custom Sandwich Plate Adaptor is used to mount the 3S-GTE derived Gearbox to the 2ZZ-GE Engine. Once the engine block and gearbox are both modified. The adaptor is fitted to the engine block. A Custom Lightweight Conversion Flywheel is also required. Which makes use of MR2 Turbo Clutch setups. The stock one is rated for decent power, but I figured I may as well do it properly. So got my hands on a Competition Clutch Stage 4 6-Puk Sprung Paddle Clutch Assembly. Capable of coping with a simply ridiculous amount of power too! The Engine & Gearbox are then officially introduced for the first time. Wheeled over to S314KBA. Where there introduced to there new home! The engine bay, chassis legs, engine mounts are now starting to be played with & fabricated to suit. To get this awesome setup mounted up this week! I'll update you all in due course, the best I can!
  3. Wouldn't say they were proven... Ive striped 3rd gear at 340bhp.... Id say 300bhp is there comfortable limit...
  4. Not trying to be a dick here mate. But if you have something for sale for over 1 year... There not going to sell for the price you have listed them for.. These tend to go for £20-40 tops!! Hope this helps

We have taken so many suggestions on board from members and if any member finds a bug or has an issue we have sorted it or help out as quickly as we can! Club Membership Club Membership is set at the minimal charge of £1.95. This is such a minimal amount that is purely another way for members to show support to there club. We have had over 790+ people join up to support UKSO over the last two years. Official Traders We have invited many new traders that specialise in certain areas of the Starlet scene to offer our members many additional services. On top of offering services, they offer discounts for club members, support and advice on the forum to members and much more. They play a huge part in the Starlet Community and we will continue to bring in new traders who offer unique services that aren't already catered for! We have brought on many new traders this year and we thank you for making them all feel welcome! Major Shows & Events This is something we have absolutely perfected now we feel, we've had such a strong presence at all the major Japanese Car Shows. Getting huge recognition by show organisers and magazines such as "Banzai" and "Japanese Performance Magazine" offering members full features! 30 Years of Starlets With help from the Toyota GT Turbo Community. We got in touch with Toyota UK, who at JAE this year presented the club and its members with a Birthday Cake & Limited Edition Decals! Big thank you to Toyota UK for this it does mean a lot. We have shared out what we could at JAE and sent over a fair share to Ireland! The Scene Amazingly the scene is still going strong! People have built some amazing cars and some amazing builds are still taking place! Power Records have been broken. New products have been developed. New techniques and guides have been discussed! This is what its all about people! These cars are meant to be rare, the turbo models were never sold in the UK and we often remind the Civic or MX5 boys just how popular this scene is! Club Merchandise We have worked with 'Tuner Lifestyle' for 2 years now and have brought you many pieces of merchandise this year. Josh himself has also come up with many limited edition designs and offered them all to UKSO at very good rates. 7. Pics ?
  8. new cars are gay... Beeps, Error Codes, Electrical Everything... Gay
  9. My engine was run in on it... Be careful tho, its lub qualities are good. but it cant take the heat, or life.. So be sure not to boost it, not get it too hot and not to run it longer then 500 miles
  10. Have you got an aftermarket Manifold?
  11. Looks cool!
  12. Nice to meet you Pete. Glad you got home safe!
  13. Well that was a pain. The whole threads gone missing shame! Mate of mine spied u at Blyton today tho!
  14. No... I believe it intercepts a map sensor signal... SO you would need to rejoin those wires...
  15. Boost Leak or vac leak... If you on a stock actuator though. They slowly deteriorate over time... and start to get too weak to hold the flap shut...
  16. As Gainzy Said... Take the FCD off... FUel Cut is to protect your engine. You should only be bypassing that protection if your mapping the car!
  17. The threaded rod on the actuator, is connected to the internal wastegate trapdoor. Which dumps boost when a set limit is reached. To maintain a boost level... As a base. Take the locking nut off and tension the rod so it just keeps pressure on the wastegate to keep it shut. You can then tighten it more and more to raise the boost. Or use a boost controller.. Shorter the rod/more tension - More Boost Longer the rod/less tension - Less Boost
  18. Yeh its Steve GT. Lives about a mile from me... Just cba with it or the scene anymore tbh... Shame as it was a minter when he first got it!
  19. I may have an adjustable actuator off one in my garage! Ill check to see inabit!
