    Was just about to suggest the starter motor. Seems quite apparent on a few cars from what I've seen lol. Corolla D4D is an example. Even my 16 plate vivaro has the same issue lol.

    All you need to do is enlarge the hole so you can get a decent torx bit in

    Drill it out, then tap a screw extractor or at worst a torx bit inside the hole, it should wind out.

    Exhaust gasket leaking? That can make some odd noises if it's passing.
