  1. Looks like my car does every time the Seagulls bomb it!!! AKA "Shithawks"...
  2. For heavy duty use Dot 4 or Dot 5.1 are a better bet, Dot 5 is compressable ("springey") due to being Silicone....
  3. I know guys, I truly am hurting letting them go!!! Other examples of these: http://www.eurotuner.com/featuredvehicles/...esel/index.html http://www.wheel-whores.com/forum/viewtopi...?f=4&t=8718
  4. I'm flogging a set of 15's that would have been pefect (I've blasted them to bare metal as well).....but are 4x108!!!!!!!!! Get this, staggered 3-peice split Compomotives, 15x10 ET-22 rear / 15x8 ET-12 front....NEGATIVE offset FTW! I want to keep them but I'm too much of a hoarder!!!
  5. You can push the piston in by hand but it doesn't come back out when you press the pedal? = normally a failure in the brake lines/flexi's or the master cyl.
  6. Fair enough, I asked as the bolts are a funny thread (metric fine) so you'd need to match it normally - doesn't apply to your fix though, unless by bigger you mean longer?
  7. How did you fix the sheared bolt? The rust will be thick scale, I scrape it off with a chisel normally (or blast them, protecting the threads and sliders ).
  8. Are all the bolts tight, and not sheared? Ie could the caliper be moving? I had a guy turn up for me to look at upgrading his brakes and one of the front carriers had a stripped bolt! Other than that the classic one is sticky sliders, and rust buildup under the pad retaining clips.

  10. Yup (at least they can check the cables), they'll need to take them off and see how they feel. If the cables are ok it probably is the calipers after all.
  11. The ones that pull the handbrake levers on the calipers..... Do you have any mates that work on cars or a friendly local garage that would have a look for you?
  12. I'm going this summer....on the way home from Italy (oh dear, have to cross the Stelvio pass to get there, what a shame!)...probably in my current cheap slow-ass MR2 though. Anyone going needs to read every page of this site: http://www.nurburgring.org.uk/ ....and I personally wouldn't do it without: 1 - Harnesses. 2 - Full face helmets. 3 - Specific trackday or one-day insurance to specifically cover you (match it to the trackday or touristenfahrten/public-toll-road-day to ensure you're covered). One recent crash cost the guy E60,000 in recovery, repair and track closure fees. Also ignoring
  13. Use the interparcel quote thing, really easy and no need for an account - they even take PayPal!
  14. As well as the caliper (good second-hand is the only real UK option here?) it's a good idea to check that the cables are in good condition and moving freely, this is normally the problem with MR2's when the handbrake is pants (ie, if you're lucky it might be the cable, not the caliper!).
  15. Cheers for the feedback!
  16. Phil's got a car!!!!!!! Looking good, get some more up! (Happy to take a few with the SLR if you're ever in the area...also best to just wipe the plate) Cleaned it up a tad, hope you don't mind?
  17. Oops, not sure how I missed this one!!! Phil and Enzo have both got the 275x22 kit, Enzo's hoarding his one ( ) but Phil's got a review here ( www.ukstarletclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=28208 ), everyone else has the 277x25 one. In terms of who to talk to, I'm dealing with UKSC and Nick at TD is covering TGTT for us but is also the approved WMS general fitting centre for anyone needing it. So far most people have gone for the 25mm thick disc, I personally would use the 22mm one if I could first as it's the lighter one (improves the handling) but swap to 25mm thick if things got way t
  18. www.ukstarletclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=28208 - Phil's update etc!
  19. Weyhayyyyy! Back up and running! (phew)
  20. I've been messing about and built an exhaust for the MR2 from scratch out of: Jet engine stainless pipe (seeeexy and thin) eBay stainless U-bend Citroen BX Mi16 silencer! (light) Saved like 10kg and a heap of cash!

    Grooved Discs?

I am calm, but I sell brakes for a living so what I am saying is based on lots personal and customer experience. The fixation on Yellows (and more specifically thinking Reds are not as good for fast-road) is a Starlet-only thing....the MR2, Ford, TVR, BMW etc lads all use Reds first, then Yellows at the track if the Reds overheat. Not sure what you mean by "not as available as yellows"? I assume that a dealer has got EBC to make batches of pads (as the are not a common UK shape other than the early EP82 front) for the Starlet in Yellows (for trackday/race/very powerful cars) but not Reds....

    Grooved Discs?

I think they mean "based on similar pads" - ie their Yellow pads are better from cold than other race pads. I found numbers: Interesting graph but way too smoothed, I'd like to see the detail at cold etc. Every customer I've asked who's tried Red and Yellow on the same car (same calipers+discs as well) have said that Yellows are great but take more warming up.
