  1. Hi guys i finally figured out how to make the Glanza V tacho work in an EP91 N/A. Not sure if Glanza S tacho's have the same problem. The problem was that the tacho has a 43k ohm resistor in it so that the high voltage from the ignitor doesnt damage the tacho. When installed in an n/a with the signal coming from the IG- in the diagnostic port, the voltage is too low and the tacho sees no signal. To fix this problem you have to replace the 43k resistor with a lower resistance one. Both myself and another guy over here used a 1k resistor and our dashes now work perfectly. His problem was that
  2. I managed to do with the exhaust on as the guy who did my exhaust made it a 1 piece from the headers to the tip so i couldnt get it off. Best bet is to take off the exhaust rubbers to get the exhaust to drop a bit and give you more clearance. If its a stock one and your strong enough you can flex the swaybar a bit to manoeuvre it around.
  3. Sounds a bit like mine I want to get a smaller tip on mine that actually lines up with the glanza cutout.
  4. I think i got my front ones replaced with monroe ones and the guy said that they are practically identical to kyb ones. He also said that toyota is now just sending out rebranded kyb shocks if you order the original ones.
  5. My ep91 had the smaller brake setup on it (238mm?). I compared the calipers to some off a gt and they looked exactly the same. All i had to use was the disks and carriers off the gt
  6. Wow clear indicators make the car look different
  7. Test the bulb with a battery to see if its still working if its not the bulb then the sender may be stuck or faulty.
  8. Stopped riding about 3 years ago when i got into modding the starlet Use to do cross country in my college team but i made the mistake of getting a full suspension downhill mountain bike which weighed 1/2 a ton so didnt like going up hills. It was a tank on the downhills and jumps though. Should really start riding again and get some exercise.
  9. 5EFE's are around 93 hp (69 kW) at 5400 rpm with 91 ft·lbf (123 N·m) of torque at 3200 rpm 5EFHE's are around 110 hp (82 kW) at 6400 rpm with 100 ft·lbf (140 N·m) of torque at 4000 rpm I chose the 5efhe to do as no-one seems to have ever successfully put one into a starlet without a turbo attached to it. I just have to work out a weekend when my mechanic and electrician will be free to get it put in
  10. I could probably find one over here but shipping would kill the deal In actual fact i may have one sitting round somewhere..
  11. 78hp at the wheels. For some reason they dont seem to do bhp over here. Using this calculator to estimate the bhp I got 98bhp
  12. Yeah the exhaust may be a bit big for a 4e but i got the larger size for when i do the 5e. Heres the results from today Gained 6hp since the dyno day in march last year Bring on the 5E!
  13. It's a coilpack 4efe so it's got the spaghetti intake mani I'm not sure whether the readings will be ATF or ATW. What's the approx number to convert between the 2?
  14. Do this but remove the windscreen wipers so she cant just hit them off
  15. Hi guys, im getting my n/a on the dyno again to get a baseline before i do the 5efhe swap. Im running a pod filter, 5e-fhe exhaust manifold and a 2-1/4" straight through exhaust. Anyone want to have a guess what it will do? Im hoping for around 80hp atw. Ill chuck the results up tomorrow and also get some vids.
  16. Finally got them fitted Found out my shocks were buggered so got them replaced at the same time.
  17. Not a very easy conversion. Found this on ToyotaGTTurbo
  18. Depends on what year your 5e is. I think the late spec 5e's had the thicker 5efhe rods.
  19. Not sure if they'd work on a starlet as I think the lower mount on the strut is on the wrong axis. Think it would need to be like this
  20. I have decided to try someCamber plates and have bought some Cusco ones off a mate. He says that they'll work with the standard struts and can give up to -3.25º camber. Ill post up the results once ive fitted them
  21. I'm from Drury so not too far from there. If you want a hand doing the rear axle swap send me a pm closer to the time and I might be able to help. I'm considering doing the same and getting a glanza or cynos rear axle. Where'd you get yours from?
  22. Welcome to the club man. Where did you hear that you need a cert for a pod filter? Ive been running one for the last 2 years and havent had any problems with the police or wof places. You only need a cert if you do an engine swap, add coilovers, add a turbo or increase power by more than 20% over what it left the factory with. (ive probably missed some things but those are the main ones) Does the GT rear axle have abs? If not the abs computer will think that the rear wheels have locked up and will activate (or possibly stop working) even on light braking. PS. What part of Auckland are you i
