  1. The cable probably snapped, remove speedo cable from gearbox and cluster. Hold either end and see if the opposite end spins when you turn it.
  2. If you tune it yourself, then why not go ITB and try tuning with alpha-n? It's a bit more challenging to tune, but its the only way to tune ITBs properly. You seem to want something new. My starlet is daily driven 5e(high compression) on yamaha r6 itbs, i have torque everywhere so dd'ing it is easy. Itbs also allow you to run stupid agressive cams without idle cam lope(each cylinder isnt fighting the others for idle air) the only issues ive had are that im running an old ms1 ecu, and that the r6 injectors are maxed out.
  3. Makesure your balljoints aren't on backwards (theres a left and a right part number) could cause your tracking/axle issue maybe.
  4. Is that a pipercross px500 or px600 air filter? Curious about space.
  5. https://imageshack.com/i/ip310HCuj reinforced tubing shoved into an electrical eye fitting(copper). More important is where you bolt it. Mine is bolted to the centre intake manifold bolt and besides the valvetrain noise, pinking sticks out like a sore thumb and is easy to hear.
  6. Fte manifold, fhe (non acis)manifold and first gen 4efe all the same., besides the fte ones sensor placement. The fhe ecu and external coil distributor would be a cheaper option than standalone ems. Anyone trying to get more power out of a 4efe would quickly become deterred by the cost of ems etc for the minimal gane. I ran a 4e-f on bike carbs (mikuni bs36mm) with fhe cams and it was a beast compared to stock, but for n/a tuning the 4e is almost maxed out, thats why I opted to build a high compression 5e(stupidly high) to see how far i could push things, only now do i need engine management,
  7. https://instagram.com/p/3HQnJPt9Bw/ #tease #budgetbuilt. Waiting on a wideband so i can tune properly. Not a 4e though. No one mentioned the option of running a 4efe with a 1st gen intake, 5efhe exhaust header AND the fte/fhe distributor, fhe ecu and fhe map sensor, different spark map on the fhe ecu. My friend had to drive his fte without the turbo, i lent him an fhe ecu for testing, huge difference in response. From a sluggish low compression 4e to a more lively drivable car.
  8. *droooool* my ep82 wants to be like your ep91 when it grows up.
  9. *drooooool* so much win on those cams.
  10. Im using the same head gasket but im running 4efe pistons aswell xD (thumbsup). Stay committed dude, its depressing how few people finish/push their n/a setup to completion.
  11. Awesome , raising compression ratio aswell?
  12. Approximately 9.1:1, forgot where I got that info tbh. Project looking awsome man.
  13. Awesome cars! Changed your mind on the grey AZEV(?) wheels?
  14. *thumbsup* i meant in the centet hole by the way, same as putting oil in thebfilter and quickly installing it. *evil laugh* another 5e lives! >
  15. Pour a little oil into where the oil filter goes, reinstall the filter then swing engine with fuel and ignition disabled. Thats the method I used to prime the pump.
  16. Valve seals were going, after coasting down a hill, I would aee smoke swirling around the rear of my car when I accelerated, when i washed thr car therr would be oil on the rear glass and trunklid
  17. Under the carpet on the right of the driver's seat in my car is spare plug from the door switch which also triggers the dome/roof light, my car didnt come with an ignition barrel light but the one from my sera plughed into it last i tried, if i remember correctly... But my switch wasnt working and my steering column surround is rotten/broken. The barrel light came on in my sera when I opened the door.
  18. I used to have the same issue when my engine burned alot of oil, do you notice any blue smoke as you accelerate in your rear view mirror?
  19. Just messin with ya @5e colin . Im running mikuni bs36 variable venturi carburettors. Next step is an angled setup for my yamaha R6 variable venturi itbs (2003) so i can have enough room for a custom plenum. Yamaha builds toyota engines so its all in the family.
  20. Variable venturi quad throttles beats acis all day. @5E colin
  21. http://instagram.com/p/q0Ks-oN9J7/ 5e-fe, 4e-f pistons, 0.6mm dis head gasket, skimmed head, 5efhe cams. Plenty of clearence. Intake: 0.118in / 3mm Exhaust: 0.196in / 5mm Interesting to note. The 5e-fhe pistons have a larger valve relief than all the others.
  22. The silicone adapters only work well when used with motorbike itbs/carbs because they mount to the bike engines similarly. The 20v setyp you planned to run had a flat flange so you had no choice. I initially thought you had scrapped it due to room. The 20v itbs are huge compared to my mikunis, firewall/clutch cylindrr clearence may have been tight
  23. Finally got my high compression quad throttle 5e built and you are already leaps and bounds ahead lol, looking good man
  24. Is the cylinder bore of the engine stock? Oem 74.m rings in a bored block might cause this
