    I've been looking to do that rear wiper mod, I've seen yaris owners do the exact opposite and wad wondering if the gear from the yaris could just be swapped with the starlet wiper gear.

    The "4e-f" (carburetted 4e) distributor has weights on the shaft like a traditional carb motor, with a vacuum advance and a built in igniter setup with the coil... Its basically an efi distributor but with mechanical advance instead of ecu controlled timing. The 2 pin distributor plug is the same, and the only one necessary. Bike carbs are more expensive and tedious than efi. I ran mikuni bs36 (yamaha fj1100) bike carbs on my 4e-f motor for a while, mated perfectly to a cut tubular intake manifold.     My compression is 262 251 258 261. I have blow by, I was wondering if not having the oem pcv setup would cause irregular crankcase breathing (trying to breath in and out through both crankcase vents simultaneously?

    *seconds Adam's post* new oem valve springs, valve clearances well within spec. Unless it's a 5e bottom end that hasn't been balanced and strengthend don't go over 8

    Usdm* distributorless ignition 5efe headgasket is 0.5-0.6mm metal. Specifically usdm, my JDM distributorless 5efe had 5efhe pistons and a normal sized non metallic head gasket. It isn't worth the effort with a 4efe. @Jeremiah

    Compomotive cx 13x7 et6 are sexy 😀. Nice stance, looks the same height and stance as my ep82. Had to run stiffer springs to stop rear arch rubbing on hard cornering (couldn't find rear are setup)

    Not with itbs and a good tune, the cylinders aren't fighting each other for air like a single throttle plenum manifold.

    Pointless trying to use the oem ecu. Vacuum reference for fuel will give you poor drivability and mileage. At 0 to 5% throttle(tps) your map sensor will think you went from 30inhg to 0inhg(full throttle) use a full engine management and tune in alpha -n or a hybrid alpha n. https://youtu.be/5jvmLzHtWDY

    Take your time shifting and you'll be fine. Selector forks and shafts, can be iffy. Gear width won't brother you till you are putting down lots of torque throughout decent tyres. N/A boxes have final drive ratios ranging from 4.312, 3.546 and there maybe a 3.700( labeling key changed between 95-96 starlets and tercels, so difficult to say for certain.

    Displacement, compression, air, fuel. No fun without good gear ratios though. My setup is a 5efe block (skinny rods), with 4efe pistons, a usdm 5efe 0.6mm metal head gasket. Shaved 4e-f/4efte head (stronger valve springs), 5efhe cams timed to the 4e mark( aftermarket cams are too expensive where i'm located). 5efhe header and full piping, minus the cat(replaced with an oval 2inch resonator. Yamaha R6 itbs from the early efi model. Megasquirt 1 ems. C150 -672 (3.546diff) gearbox removed and replaced with a C150 -642 (4.312diff).     Black wire for the horn? 2 airbag wires and 1 horn wire usually go through the airbag clock spring,so you would need to replace the horn wire if you remove the entire clock spring assembly. Assuming you needed a horn?

    5e block? Are the cams timed to the 5e mark? Retarding the cams slightly by timing them to the 4e mark shifted my powerband very nicely, (fhe cams in an n/a build)

    I wish I had center caps for my StarMags. 😩 does your ep8* carry hub-bracket-caliper? Or just hub-caliper? Mine are vented aswell but theres no bracket so I cant experiment with different caliper/disc options.

    Nice progress! The JBW Starmags are awesome wheels (i have them on my soliel s) but they limit you if you plan to upgrade your brakes later on ;)
