I've been in touch with scooby parts hull who I got the turbo from. They said you need a 1.5-1.8mm hole on a tdo4. The seals should be fine as they are basically a small piston ring. I'm picking one up tonight I think. See if it solves the smoking problem

Hey Adam, yea she runs well now although I think the oil seals have gone in the turbo. As above I'm waiting for pay day to sort out a new/recon unit. I may have come across another problem now though. The drive shaft oil seal on the passenger side has failed and is leaking oil pretty bad. So I'm going to get one from camskill soon. Also a question if any one can answer it for me. The banjo bolt for the oil on top of the turbo, am I correct in saying it should only have a small hole in it for the oil? One small single hole about 1.5mm in diameter? If so I think my turbo may be fine as I have

Normal Unleaded, with Octane Booster?
Flaminsam replied to The Toffinator's topic in Ignition & Fueling
As above. I wouldn't worry too much. The knock sensor is there to protect your engine so it will adjust the fuelling accordingly. As funny onion said the fuel changes from country to country. For instance the USA has poor quality fuel, for them 95 Ron is super unleaded. Also octane boosters are pants. You may has well put meth straight in your tank mixed to 10% with your fuel. -
Or t2 flanged like the t28, t25 etc. The t3 flanges are on t30 etc. I wouldn't mind a gt2560 on mine in time. Quick spool and can hold 1.5bar nicely.

I would be looking at a leak of sorts. Is the external wastegate seating properly? Could be a build up of carbon holding the valve open inside. Also could be sonething to do with the solenoid. But saying that if that is allowing boost through it would increase your boost pressure not lower it. :/
-
Is the screamer opening earlier then? Guessing your boost controller is going to the top of your wastgate?
-
Your externally gated arnt you Liam?

I've just taken my friends scooby sti for MOT and it had a Vf34 on it. Goes well and has minimal lag. That's on a 2l engine though. :/

Wasn't this up for sale onthe forum? Hope you get it back bud.

that guy is a legend.
-
Is it white or blue ish? Rule of thumb, white is water, blue is oil and black is overfueling.

the pink almera gti............... am i right in saying that was the gtir engined one?
-
Agreed ^^^^ Ceramic coat as much as physically possible. Mild is easy to work with plus its quite forgiving. Stainless looks amazing but it is a fine art to master how to bend and manipulate stainless.
-
The kit I bought for the almera came off a vectra touring and his engine was standard. To be honest the nitrous kit was really good I had. Put it up for sale on here ages ago.
-
Also your better with a wet single port to face the fogger into the direction of flow. That way the nitrous and fuel tumbles back on itself giving a better mixture. Plus a controller is a good idea. No point putting 50bhp shot in all at once. You will just spin the wheels up. A progressive controller injects the nitrous over a set ammount of time. I.e 10bhp at 2 seconds 20 bhp at 4 etc all the way up to your maximum ammount. I was going to fit nitrous to my almera gti, so I've done quite a lot of research.

Massive Thanks to Liam D and Midland Turbo
Flaminsam replied to ro55ifumi's topic in Lifestyle General
How much did this cost you john? I'm getting a new cartridge for mine for 180. Midland turbo quoted me 185+ victim for just a rebuild. -
Yea kinda bit far for us really and charl was working. Fingers crossed will all be done for japfest 2. Plus its only at donnington. can't wait to actually get it mapped and stuff
-
Well the saga continues. Turbo number 2 has blown its oil seals as above. So I've rang around a few conpanys and I've had quotes around 200 to repair my turbo. Thing is I can get a new cartridge for 180 delivered to my house. That's a new core, bearings, shaft, oil seals and impellar. The unit is fully balanced and ready to go. So its a wait until pay day now till I can get a new cartridge and actually get the car taxed and insured. Its first show should be japfest 2 all being well.

I agree with Stu on this one. A good mineral oil or semi synth but not fully synth.

I'm impressed by some of the products from klears. Got some samples from them when I won show and shine last year at jae. Charl used them and she liked them.
-
You have a thing called boost creep bud. Been discussed a lot on the forum to be honest. Its because the internal wastegate cannot regulate the ammount of air being flowed through it. Porting the wastegate on the turbo is really the only solution besides getting a remap or a piggyback ecu like a e-manage blue.

What does your wideband read when your car fuel cuts? Sounds to me that the fcd aint doing what it is suppost to. and 2.3 bar fuel pressure with the vac line on? Seems too little to me.
-
Yup I agree. Up to you if you want to pay money for the name or not. Either way they both do the job they are suppost to. I've heared nothing but praise for tuning developments.
