URGENT! CLUTCH PROBLEMS PLEASE HELP :(
Flaminsam replied to Amjad's topic in Drivetrain & Transmission
sounds to me like a bad case of clutch drag. the clutch is not fully releasing when the clutch pedal is depressed. im guessing the friction plate was installed the correct way,(should have gearbox side or x'mission side stamped or penned on it) did you lubricate the spigot bearing in the middle of the crank / flywheel? if this is not cleaned and re greased it can cause the symptoms of clutch drag. also did you make sure the spigot bearing in the middle of the flywheel fit on the shaft of the gearbox? it should not be a tight fit and the shaft should spin freely within the spigot bearing. -
the top is to pre charge the spring pressure. so if your spring pressure is 0.8bar if you allow 0.2bar to enter the top it will give you 1 bar of boost pressure if you get me. you will need to pipe in a bleed valve or possibly a electronic boost controller.

I have the alloy pipes from the throttle body to the intercooler. Came off a jperformance intercooler. Didn't fit my 82.

I have both parts if needed.

help please.... Seatbelt hook thread size
Flaminsam replied to MARC MOSS's topic in Chassis & Suspension
I think they are 10x1.25. -
my friend got pulled by the fuzz a while back. had a vauxhall nova, was lowered and stuff. they pulled him in a riot van. the first thing that was said to my friend was you have a light out. my friend replied so have you. the riot van had a headlamp out, so with that the copper appologised for stopping him and had to return to the station to have the riot van sorted. i got pulled in the almera a while back. after checking everything on the car and my licence etc they found i had a fog light out. me being the keen mechanic i had loads of spare bulbs in the car so i fitted one there and then.

when replacing rings anyway they all need ''gapping'' to ensure a good seal and give you good compression. if your changing rings and find a piston cracked then obviously a new piston is needed. so basicaslly the same ammount of work is needed to put a forged piston in as there is a standard one. the common thing people do is change the rods too. hence '' forging the engine''. i could go on all day about forging engines etc, but my advice to you is if you want a quick cheap repair put a standard piston back in. if you want to go forged for more peace of mind then it will be costly. you runni

Sounds like excessive blow by to me which indicates rings or cracked piston. Compression test and a cylinder leakage test are your best bet. Also you can run forged pistons on standard rods. Nothing wrong with that. The pistons crack because they are receiving all the heat and basically a explosion every 2 turns of the crank.

brute force and a big breaker bar
-
Better off heating up the entire piston. The gudgeon pins or little ends are sweated in. In other words when the pins are inserted or assembled the pistons are hot.

Thanks for the comments guys and girls. Don't worry socks it got turned straight off as soon as I heared it fire up. I've come across lack of oil pressure many times before Yea taggy the shell was all I had, I've pretty much built it from the shell up. Not bad considering I only got the shell Jan/Feb time. We will see charl. The gearbox could be shafted yet

Small update, Went down to my lock up last night to bleed up fuel system. After finding about four leaks I left the engine turning over for too long and it actually fired up! Needless to say with it not having an oil feed for the turbo on yet it pissed oil out all over! I'll update when I get in with pics, finally got my boost gague and coolant temp gague mounted. Left to do list, Front brake discs, power steering belt, oil feed for turbo, swap tyres onto rims and finish off a few small items inside.

I've been after quad light brackets for ages. Everyone who breaks them sells them with the lights themselves.

as asad said, everyone wants to be in a tuning garage or ''racers edge'' but if you only do basic stuff like changing filters etc then you have no reputation. i have worked on many peoples cars around where i live. everything from lowering cars to headgaskets etc on skylines. i even work on my friends v8 200sx. but if i was to go to a tuning company they wouldnt know me for shit. you need qualifications and need to offer something that no one else can. experience is key.

na get a frankenstein engine in there, b20 bottom end off a honda crv with a b16 head. awesome torque and power!
-
lol thats epic.

i think the problem you have is its an auto. lots of people see them as being ''gas guzzlers''. plus some people dont have alot of money now, nearly 150 per litre of petrol etc. keep plugging it though.
-
why does it have side repeaters in the wings??

your running the solenoid to the top of the wastegate yes? if the solenoid wasnt opening then you would only boost to the spring pressure in the wastegate (somewhere around 0.5bar), sounds to me like the solenoid is stuck open allowing the top of the wastegate to precharge the springs giving you higher boost levels.

last parts for sale (offers on everything)

Don't suppose you still have the headlamp brackets do you? -
hey guys and girls i ordered this from ebay and it arrived today. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/180833019438?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649#ht_1926wt_1396 this is the correct after market wheel bearing for ep82 and ep91. not bad for 35 quid delivered. the part numbers it has on the box are BRT = BRT1089 QH = QWB767 TEC = KIT767. the bearing part number from NSK is 35BWD07A the size of the bearing are 68mm external diameter, 35mm internal diameter and 33mm depth. hope this helps any someone out.

sounds like it nick. most glanzas and gt's do it after a while. i wouldnt worry too much though, but if your after doing crank seals any way then it may be worth changing it. i had a complete engine with box and loom out in around an hour so a box will maybe take a hour and half as there are more bolts etc to undo. ive got charls (funny onion) clutch to change soon.

whoooop petrol light roulette! and no one seems to be panic buying here. well some people are but we have a petrol refinary across the water in lincolnshire so we are cool.
