this is a strange one. its asif the engine either doesnt have enough flow to spool up the turbo or the gasses are bypassing the turbo completely but i dont see how that can be?

just out of interest do you have a fuel pressure regualtor on your car? check that the two bolts for the adapter in the fuel rail havnt come loose. also as taggy says do the compression test hot. and the teaspoon of oil trick to try and raise compression by sealing the piston better in the bore.

OMFG I LOVE THIS THREAD! i work on mondeo diesels at work and ohh my god!! they are slooooooooow! we also have a volvo d5 v50 chipped and tinkered with. now thats a fast car. dynoed at 210bhp and nearly 400lbft torque i believe. but even that runs out of puff at about 4500rpm. lol.

check the timing marks dude. you could have possibly jumped a tooth on the belt. if not then a cylinder leakage test is needed. could be rings or anything.

my friend has one. to be honest you really have to rev that tiny engine to get it to do anything. seems slow to me. the car is heavy and the engine is reletively small. better off getting a is200 and putting a 2jz or even a 1jz motor in it in my opinion.

does it stay on 0 all the way through the rev range? ive heard that the td05 can only create boost when the engine is around 5000 rpm on the 4efte. yes the piping is correct on the wastegate, the pipe needs to go to the compressor side of the turbo. and if your not creating any boost check to see if the external wastegate is being held open. this will cause the gasses in the exhaust manifold to basically bypass the turbine in the turbo. but it will sound like there's no exhaust on the car.
