  3. Just got this delivered today !! It was on here for sale for a while with a forged engine that had an unknown problem. _shaun_ bought it, a few of us went round to strip the car of its aftermarket parts and because Shaun is a top man he gave me the shell As it stands its needing quite a bit of work to get it road worthy again. Ive always been wanting to do a EP82 N/a build and since i have some JDM 100ps stuff here i'll fire it all onto this car I have the 100ps ECU, engine loom, pink injectors and exhaust manifold. I also have my daily 4EFE Corolla i that might donate its engine, box and some other stuff to the GT. And this is how the 85 sits at the moment, ignore the IC pipe lol. And this is the current daily beast lol. Engine and box are in great condition so yeah probably gonna rip them out and fire them in the GT shell Will get going with this soon, probably...

  6. X2 it would be a shame. But the cost of a rebuild on the 100ps lump would be about 10 times the cost of a normal FE so i see your point. What about a 5E ? Theres one in the F/S section. That would be awesome will the 100ps stuff strapped to it

  10. Awesome engines !! Ive been told they handle boost very well but we shall see in the next while 0.6bar with a VF12 on my Gen1 FE in my 85.
  11. Its a Gen1 FE so its 100ps. Has a crank marked FTE, thick conrods similar to GT rods or the same i believe, stronger FTE valve springs, pistons im not sure of. Also has pink injectors, 100ps ECU, inlet & TB thats the same as a FTE one. Different exhaust manifold, mine has a cat built into the mani.

  14. No worries bud It can be done easily, i swapped them into GT doors. All the bolt holes are there. You need the glass to match though because of where is secures to the regulator. Anyway, GLSW of shell dude

  17. All things considered, bang for buck, tune-ability, availability of parts etc. i honestly cant think of a better car than a starlet. Although im seriously needing RWD in my life, but that can wait till i get a bit of fun out of starlets first !!

  19. Starlets in the blood lol, picking up another project this weekend. Be my 4th one now fs. Need to actually drive them though, all mine just spend a lot of time 'in progress' and never actually see tarmac :/

  21. If its just the rings then that means you can save your pistons. But yeah its still a big job unfortunately. Noticed you live in Prestwick, good place to take it would be G.I in Killie.
  22. I wouldn't count on it being very long. I'd get it sorted asap. If youre lucky it'll be ring failure, but most likely the actual ringlands on the pistons will be cracked / breaking away.

Nobody needs to get touchy, this is just random internet chat Theres nothing wrong with using a FE to get you by, but the OP made his mind up he doesnt want to do it that way which is understandable. Just like there is nothing wrong with using a Toyoshite kit (with additional bracing etc) if thats the way you want to do things. Lets be honest they are both cheap ways to go about things, yeah ? So thats why i mentioned it because of the similarities. Personal experience with them, none, but my friend has one in his V and its been nothing short of god awful tbh. Slating a FE swap is a bit out of order imo, especially when you said yourself you didnt know the different Gens of them. The early ones are more than capable of boost. And Rob H has sucessfully boosted them for 10 years or so. And technically i dont actually run a FE conversion.... My EP85 came with a FE which i turbo'd
