1996 Toyota Tercel Sport - Lots of Pics!
Fozzie replied to Tercel-R's topic in Other Motors Progress Blogs
All sounding awesome there buddy, you need to put up some pics of it lowered -
Has anyone ever figured out how to get a 5EFTE through an emissions test? As in one that has been registered with the DVLA as an engine swap (obviously if it wasn't declared, they'd do a basic test without knowing)
-
They don't fetch a whole lot, if you get £30-40 you've probably done alright

Building 5efte using 4efte and 5eblock?
Fozzie replied to Adeeb1395's topic in Alternative Engine Discussions
As Adam mentioned, it's the 5EFHE rods that are strong, they're absolute beasts. The 5EFE rods are waaaaaanky, hence me getting FHEs for mine -

You'll also need stronger rods as the 5e ones are like paperclips. You'd more than likely want 4e pistons too so that the compression ratio is lower. -
hi again.... back after a few year's without a starlet.

Man that's a hell of a round trip! Glad it paid off for you though mate. As above, piiiiiiiiiics ;) -
That's about all I got tbh ha! I know the principles behind it but I'm not an expert, so I can't really add much more. As I said, the actual difference between them isn't great so I it's probably 6 of one and half a dozen of the other. Hopefully someone else can add something more technical if you want a belt and braces breakdown lol

I'd be very surprised if it caused problems, an increase that small only increases the boiling point by like 10c IIRC. Tbh I'd just chuck it on there if you have it already buddy lol
-
Ah ok no worries. Well in theory, a higher pressure cap means the fluid in the cooling system has a higher boiling point (because the liquid is held under a higher pressure before it is allowed to vent to the overflow bottle). Supposedly this helps the whole system to just cool more efficiently and prevents 'localised boiling' of the fluid, but like I mentioned IMO it's a bit of waste of time on a regular road car and I don't think you'd really get any measurable benefit. Generally the aftermarket caps just look prettier lol ;)
-
I thought Civic rads had a different thread to standard ones so I don't think you can use the standard cap? Manufactuers claim a higher pressure cap makes the system more efficient but tbh I personally think it's tosh and a standard 1.3 bar would do the job just fine

ct9 1 bar on emanage ultimate ecu?
Fozzie replied to glanza sheehy's topic in Intake, Turbo & Exhaust
If anything EMU is overkill on a CT9 at 1 bar, people run TD04 at higher pressure on just EMB and say it runs well, so your setup should go well dude -
Tbf, forged components are obviously a great deal stronger than stock, but they're not indestructible. Under the wrong conditions any component will eventually die. Taggy melted the first set of forged pisons that went in his EP70 (not sure if they got to the bottom of the cause). I guess the point is that a couple of bad pictures shouldn't scare you as it could happen to any part and it's pretty rare to see from any of the 'established' manufacturers.

You could try EPnick22 mate, he's looking for forged bits? -
Here's some rods mate: http://www.ukstarletowners.com/topic/67742-brand-new-in-box-scat-rods-and-arp-cap-bolts-300/#entry863666

Ha the photos are just kind, it could do with a bit of spit and polish really, but it's on the to-do list! Yours sounds like it has some potential, you should get a thread up with some plans! Haha spares are useful; got my spare 5e out and ready to rebuild now Cheers buddy, good luck with yours too!

Looking for my old MK1 GT in green if anyone can help
Fozzie replied to Nicholai's topic in Lifestyle General
One step ahead of ya big guy -
I would've thought you'd still have to roll them with flares fitted - the arch may be wider but it's the original lip at the top which catches and that will still be in the same place, just with the flared section attached to it...? :/
-
You'd have to be a looney to redo them in all black! Current finish looks real smart, nice to see something different! I would definitely think about changing to black or polished lug nuts though

Caribbean 5E... OKI ONE LAST REBUILD i hope
Fozzie replied to rasslenny's topic in EP80/EP82 Progress Blogs
I've got some 370cc 3S-GE injectors for my 5EFTE. I'm not sure what the limit is on them but they're supposedly easy to find quite cheap and are a direct fit, might be worth a look -
May as well just weld some box section between the turrets, that'd do the job
-
No worries mucker

Don't you have it set to 'just items I follow' there mate? :/
