BBC is not for profit though so I'm guessing it doesn't apply to them?

Interesting read there mate Someone around that area must know the ponce or his car, he deserves to be knocked down a few pegs! Really hope you get some resolution to it mate, you've deserve it after all that digging!
-
They are often mentioned as being poorly suited for UK roads, it's not uncommon for them for them to come up for sale in poor condition i.e. leaking and badly corroded

Dont let Matt1878 near you once he's had a drink....

Sometimes it seems as though people bite off more than they can chew tbh. They get obsessed with huge numbers and end up being separated from the car for ridiculous amounts of time while they wait it to be built. Then they get fed up with the car and all the massive bills before they've even driven it. May as well just build it in steps and take time to enjoy it as you do

'Throwaway' looked as though they were trying to drop someone in it with their first post, but it seems as though noone noticed. Tbh though since you never know who someone is when they're hiding behind an account, I'd be sceptical about anything they wrote.

How much for a house/property deposite???
Fozzie replied to 1991 starlet owner's topic in Lifestyle General
I'm on shared ownership and I have to say it's a pretty good scheme. You only have to mortgage a certain % of the property, then you pay rent on the other half, which is owned by the developer or a housing association. Over time you can buy out more of the property until you own the whole thing if you want to. We bought 50% of our place and my savings pretty much did it, were around £10k (that also covered legal fees, flooring throughout, doing the garden etc etc). Only have a little extra that I put on my credit card but almost sorted that now. -
Noone else notice that 'Throwaway's first post had some letters greyed out? :/

Beaten your credit card debt or personal loan..
Fozzie replied to 1991 starlet owner's topic in Lifestyle General
I got my credit card when I was 18; I didn't meet any of the criteria regarding income, length of employment, had no credit history etc. They promptly gave me a card with a £2k limit, which needless to say I maxed out Did clear it in a couple months though tbf so all was well. Of course this was all pre 'global meltdown'. I'm much more careful now I've moved out and own my own place, it's way too easy to dig yourself into a hole and can be an absolute pain in the flaps getting back out! -
TD do Sard 550cc for £365, unless that's mroe than you were looking to spend?

It'll be up again next week with a Leon Cupra turbo ;) -
I love the colour of that and it looks mint buddy. Wheels suit it a treat too, just bought a set of them for my Seo

That's the idea mate, as long as you're on a fixed wage it all works out fine and dandy it's only if your income goes up and down that you can end up with issues
-
You pay tax at the appropriate rate on the excess. So if you earned say £12,000, you'd pay tax on £2,560. The basic rate is 20% so you'd pay £512, spread over 12 months i.e. you'd loose around £42 each month out of your pay. You can have a problem with tax because they estimate what they think you're going to earn for the year and then deduct tax accordingly. So if your pay goes up and down, if your first couple months are say £1000 gross, they'll tax you assuming that you'll earn £12000 in a year, then you might have a couple of really low pay months and end up earning less than the taxab

Those look smart mate, do you know what the quality is like? You reckon the import tax would be a stinger on them?
-
I agree with you mate, my attitude is always over-engineer (where I can afford to), but it's just forged 5e rods are so expensive and tbh I have every faith in the FHE ones being reliable at the power levels I want, so it seems a waste to chuck 'em Was just planning on forged pistons, as ringlands are such a well documented weak point and just wanted to future proof while I was having the engine all apart lol
-
Yea there's a pair of metal brackets that screw in and hold the cd player and blanking plate/cubby hole in place, he must have taken them out with his old headunit
-
Ahh ideal cheers for that dude, 294whp would do very nicely, my final target in my head is ballpark 250-270 Still confused as to the differences mentioned by EPnick22 though regarding durability of the gudgeon pins/small ends, I guess I have a couple of 5es though so if it all blows up I'll just have to try again ha
-
Cheers for that mate, I'll have a scan, here's hoping
-
That's why I was keen to use a FHE/Wiseco combo, that's a right pain in the tits if I have to get forged rods now too lol :/
-
...I just want forged pistons that'll fit FHE rods, ahh I'm so confused lol. I'm sure it's been done before though so what pistons did they use?? :/
-
He said in another thread that the Wiseco didn't fit the stock rods though, which seems to be the opposite of what everyone else says? Bit concerning as I was planning on using Wiseco pistons with my FHE rods...
-
Reading through this, I was thinking that with only 370hp on tap your car must be working really hard to lug that heavy bootlid around lol Look forward to seeing it fitted mate, especially with aerocatches

Well a small update, made it through its first MOT under my ownership (after a few 'tweaks'); first car I've had in over 3 years that lasted long enough to reach an MOT! Also scooped myself up some new wheels, which I think suit the car to a tee. They're Black Racing Comps in 14" x 6J. Currently have 185/60/14 tyres and a quick pop on the scales showed that they're around 0.6kg lighter per wheel than the standard Toyota alloys. Did a little mock up to see how they'll look (terrible photo and they're not lined up great, but you get the idea); Ideally they'll have a refurb in the future
