Nothing wrong with Vtec dude just a different world to us...

I only say that cause Im picking up a dc5 as a daily driver next week mind lol

I prefect dc5's over civics, less common :D

Compared to turbo, yes but in N/A terms they arent lacking at all.

Comparison ....

c20xe - 144ft/lb

gt86 boxer engine - 150ft/lb

Clio 197 - 159 ft/lb

Focus ST170 - 144 ft/lb

ep3 type r - 159 ft/lb

..... torqueless for a 2.0 hot hatch ....... i think not. Also if you look at the civics torque curve it makes torque alot smoother and earlier in the usable rev range.

EP3s are really under rated as performance hatches due to them being so plentiful, cheap and owned by chavs. With the right driver they will beat 99.9% of current "hot hatches"

But the focus still has more power to weight if we say it had 240-260 bhp ish with so called mods? So what are you lot getting at?

Shall i get a saxo then and it will beat the focus?

tbf a turbod saxo, even tho its french wud dump on the focus. the civic driver has obv dun a wee bit more and his mate duznt no of it. STs and RSs look hot and sound the danglers but they are slow because of the sheer amount of weight they carry. and to clarify the civic bounced it off to limiter (like my pal duz all the time) because it sounds the tits in a vtec :-)

Thats my forum avatar from ages ago. All my cars ive had in the past are on fb, and i have rr printouts of my rallye.

I didnt say focus sts were quick there slow as fuck standard imo? And like i say the person behind the wheel can drive, he beats m3's on track, evo 6 with 15 ks worth of mods, porshes, skyline r32 gtrs, clio cup race cars. The car is on buddy club coilies, and has a diff and semi slicks for track , the cars driven hard. You dont know the driver.

anyone can over take anyone on track dude,obv the other people wernt tryin hard. if they didnt wana let him by theyd hav dun sum defensive drivin, before my SR is turbod, i cud make it dificult for this rocketship st to pass me."its not how u stand by your car, its how u race your car, u better learn that" ;-)

if the civic was a turbo, it would absolutely inihilate the ST

focus' are gay :) be it an st or an rs, they simply are not as quick as people think and it makes me chuckle :D

I no mate, even if i had 20k in the bank id still tune a small hatch just to see the look on peoples faces when theyv just taken out finance over 5 years and cant beat an R reg 1.3/1.5 lol

The st had no diff and on normal suspension.

So basically everyone here is saying a EP3 with probably about 160-180 lb ft torque will happily beat a focus st with 400 lb ft and 300+ bhp?

I have this debate with my best friends who are Vauxhall mad everyday, they always tell me how shit jap cars are and that Hondas have no torque etc however its proven that even though they have less torque they are very underestimated, especially K series engines they are very tuneable. I currently have a B16 turbo'd civic running just 7 psi which makes 280bhp, it probably has about 250lb of torque and i honestly wouldnt waste my petrol racing an ST whether it has 400lb of torque or not lol best advice i can give you and your sister is to trade the focus in for something jap mate ;-)

I never said how shit jap cars are? I go to reading jap meets every month and all the jap shows and getting a glanza lol! I just never realised a aftermarket exhaust on a civic adds shit loads of torque and bhp

I can vouch for an ep3. My mate has a 30th edition with nothing on it but a filter. the one that scoops from the back of the bonnet. it stayed next to a stock rs up to 120. And i was in the car. my other mates just bought a 270 brake st and i can't say im overly impressed by it the civic feels a lot quicker. they are yet to race lol

It also depends on how much drivetrain loss there is, if the civics putting down 180-90hp and the focus 240hp for example, then the difference is made smaller, then youve got the fact the st might have TC which with all that torque would no doubt be kicking in then limiting the power therefore tipping the balance in favour of the civic even more.

This is just speculation of couse

OP you have got to be THE most argumentative person ever, you asked a question, then when people make a suggestive answer to your question, you clearly have your own view on the matter and ignore everyone else. So why ask the question in the first place??

FACTS for you.

- The ST weighs 1392kg

- The EP3 weighs 1267kg

- The EP3 with a manifold, full exhaust system, RBC inlet, GruppeM and KPro should COMFORTABLY pull 250bhp

- As has been said, the EP3 could be stripped out, so minus 40kg lets say.

- If your sisters ST is actually 330bhp then it equates to a pw ratio of 237bhp per ton.

- A stripped (1227kg) EP3 with 250bhp equates to a pw ratio of 203bhp per ton.

If you had 2 or 3 people in the ST with a full tank and the EP3 driver only and quarter of a tank, I bet there is fuck all in the pw ratio!

EP3s are good cars, I was going to say underestimated but they're not, everyone knows they're quick. And not only that they have epic handling, and with the right suspenion mods will keep with the big boys in the bends!

And as has already been said, if the EP3 was supercharged it would absolutely destory an ST.

and another thing, is the ep3 loves to rev, far higher then an st or rs..

and that video i know exactly where u were, and the ep3 will win everytime...

why, because its lighter, better handing more agile, and ther is a series of roundabouts which i reckon the ep3 would be faster through..

then only one real longish straight..

and as said further up in thread, the power to weight and Wheel horsepower, are going to be a lot closer then you think...

and an st or rs needs torque to get its fat ass moving...

only one way mate, settle this wkend again, i happily watch..
