Yes its a Garrett cooler and we worked the tanks custom here to suit in the space available and get the piping as short as possible:)

Saw this on facebook, chuffing EPIC Keith!

Love it mate!

Race Fuel i presume? What power u aiming for?

Yes, just 114. no plans for nos though for now. we aint really aiming for any bhp figure, the aim is to get into the 9sec bracket with the 1.3

I think it will be close to 500 though, I will obviously post up graph and sheet when its done :)

Yes, our dream is to race this at Santa Pod some day. We will make it for sure at some point, just not sure when :)

It's been a while since the last update now, its about time we give you an update on the progress :)

The car was ready in July in terms of bodywork and interior, however it required a full engine harness, get the DTA S60 Pro plugged in, all gauges etc etc. After a few months of hard work, we found some time to finish it off, and the car was fired up in the first week of November :) What a day that was!! We were very relieved everything went well. We made a few mods in the head and even if the engineers were confident to proceed its still not easy to think everything will be 100% before you see it working. In the end, the wait has paid off :D

We had an issue with the cooling system,it was trapping a lot of air inside but we got that sorted.

Here's a small video we put up of the start up :)

Within one week we hit the drag strip, and the car was tuned to 17psi. We did some test with launch control and also made sure dog box and sequential shifter had no issues. All went well :) The following week there was the last 1/4 event for this season and we decided to get the car registered, just in the bracket race. We had no idea of the times it would do, so we thought we would decide which bracket we will race depending on the time it will register in the practice sessions.

[media]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wxZVSw19y5E&NR=1&feature=endscreen

The first trap time was 11.8 secs, and we were happy but there was a lot of room for improvement so the car we set up with very modest timing figures for 25psi. We managed a 10.9sec run so it we raced between 10.6 and 11 sec bracket.

In the first race, we managed 10.8, we were very happy with that but we got a fright when the car puffed a heavy smoke on 5th gear and we thought it was a connecting rod..when it was just the washer on the oil filter that blew up :( Turned out to be a defective one! It made one hell of a mess, there was oil everywhere. The car was towed to our garage, we replaced the filter, poured oil in and fired it up. It was all fine, but we still decided to take the crank off for further inspection. There was a few light scratches, so we took it to the engineers and had it polished up. I wish to thank Ton'y Engineering as they did a a great job and if it hadnt been for them we would not have raced the next day!

On Sunday, we raced again, and we managed a 10.54sec run!! We were so overjoyed we did not realise the car was disqualified lol (as it managed lower than 10.6s which was the bottom time of the bracket we raced it) but it didnt matter at that point as our main target for the time being is getting the car to trap the best time possible.

Here's a vid of the run it made:

This makes it the fastest Starlet in Malta now, as the previous record holder had recorded a 10.58sec run.

As for the next season which starts again in March, the car shall be mapped again at the same boost level but timing will be improved, and we have quite a few issues we need to resolved. Currently we're only managing a 1.7sec 0-60ft, while we need to get this down to 1.5s. Car is getting wheel spin off the start even with the massive slicks and launch reduced to 4500rpm. The front suspensions are being changed completely, and we shall make some testing with the wheelie bar aswell.

I shall keep you guys updated with all progress till then.

Thank you for reading and any comments are welcome :)

I will certainly continue to do so Matt, thanks for your help too.

The map needs to be well refined and up the boost a little more, but main issue is launching. We're working on that most :)

Definatley a 9secind car if you can get the 60ft times sorted !

We're in discussion with a US company to make coilovers for our specification. Hopefully get them ready by end of January. Every 0.1s less on 0-60ft is a gain of 0.2s on trap time, all going well :)

The 10.5ET was on 25psi mate, I think 2 bar will be massive but then one has to see how long it will last. One step at a time :)

Hi lads,

Been a while since the last update.

We had the first 1/4 mile event for the season that just started. Unfortunately things didn't go very well, in general.

As usual on a Friday evening, we had some practice runs and besides other things, the car was been tested at lower boost levels (20psi and 22psi) with the main intention to try out the new suspension setup.

Here's the suspensions that were installed.

And a glimpse at the bottom front:

Unfortunately the fitting that connects on the stock hub turned out to be a bit too long and the coilover was closing completely, resting on the bump stop. This meant that the shock was not working properly. Obviously we couldnt do any modification there and then so we decided to try it out as it was.

On Saturday, we managed to clock one run with the setup the way we wanted it, and we get 10.8sec, which is not as good as the previously clocked 10.5sec and we wished a little better obviously but we know that things were not up to scratch.

Also, the 1/4 mile finished abruptly. On Friday, there was some cross wind and in an unfortunate accident an Escort Mk1 equipped with a Cosworth turned over. Thank god the guy walked out without any major injuries. The wind got stronger on Saturday, and some time in the afternoon it was decided this was dangerous and there should be no more racing on the day, and we shall continue tomorrow.

This morning it turned out to be really bad weather, in contrast to the sunny day we had yesterday. It rained for a few hours in the morning, and it didnt look like it was getting better. We waited for the ruling from the committee who decided that the races shall be continued in the coming weekend.

In the meantime, we shall sort out the suspensions and get the car mapped properly, hopefully the coming weekend there will be no major wind and it turns out to be good weather too.

Here's a vid of the run in which we managed 10.9s, its not the best but not so bad with bad suspension (in fact 0-60ft was not brilliant at 1.84) and the track not in the best condition.
