daniel_g Posted October 27, 2012 Share Posted October 27, 2012 So i got this from GT the other week for a project to fix up over the next few months.I havent really had much time to work on it with work and college, so progress will probably be quite slow.Stripped out the interior.Painted dash support bar.Cleaned up the 5zigen exhaust i bought.Got an OMP rep to go on.Done some other wee things, like remove rear washer jet and water line, removed lots of stuff from behind the dash, removed the carpet and scrubbed away the two decades of shit from inside. I took the engine loom out aswell, gonna sort the wiring out on it becauses its total fucked, its been spliced at the ecu end and in the bay too.Thats about it for now. Dan. daniel_g Posted November 7, 2012 Author Share Posted November 7, 2012 So a wee bit of progress from the last couple of days.Engine outSplit from the boxPikey dodged mount lolSump offClogged upFucked crank oil seal and oil pumpAll disassembledBearings scoredRings letting oil pastEngine thats going in, out of a 98 spec V with 72k, hope it dosent cause too much problems with sensors etc.Clutch thats going in, bit of wear but should be ok for a while atleastThe old block and crank will be getting sent to a machine shop at some point for inspection, then i'll start a forged parts stockpile, eventually.The gearbox is currently down at my work, i'll take the cover off and give it a once over. Hopefully wont have to strip it down and replace syncros ect.Gonna remove shit from the bay and have a wee cleaning session, scrub up the new engine too. daniel_g Posted November 7, 2012 Author Share Posted November 7, 2012 Yeah lots of work to do, over winter aswell...Had a feeling that the engine has been out / replaced before because there are dents all over the bulkhead where it has been swinging about on a crane hitting everything lol. Really needs the bay sprayed but this will do for now.The gay ABS is now removed too !!Thought i'd remove all the sound proofing shit so got the hammer and chisels out.Still need to go over it again with a wire brush drill bit, then i'll probably paint it.Also opened a package that Marc threw in with the car.Cheeky pair of livesports side skirts.The car doubles up as a storage unit to hahaThats it up to date now. I'd mock one up against it but i'm missing the outer trim on the side of the door. You'll see the bit i mean in one of the top pics ^There is a company logo on the number plate who i'm guessing have done the majority of the pikey repairs to the car, so i googled them to find that they are fucking vauxhall specialists.
