ronan1293 Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 Hi guys just wondering how is it people get through a mot once you've changed the turbo due to having a decat? Cheers Quote
mikey4410 Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 go to a "FREINDLY" mot station mate.never had a cat and had decatted starlets for years. Quote
davehart Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 With the new MOT rules on decats a friendly tester is the only option. Quote
akyakapotter Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 Have a cat put inline like I have saves having to find a friendly tester. Quote
Turbo Goose Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 I thought imports have no uk equivalent so cant be tested for emissions? Read it on here somewhere i think Quote
Turbo Goose Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 http://www.ukstarletowners.com/topic/68050-de-cat-and-emissions-testing-mot/Found where i read it Quote
daniel_g Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 There is SO much false info on this its laughable. This is straight from the MOT book and every car has to follow it does not matter if its an import or not.The 4EFTE engine might not be on the system, if its not then the car still has to pass the minimum standards, they are different depending on the year of the car. daniel_g Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 Hi guys just wondering how is it people get through a mot once you've changed the turbo due to having a decat? CheersWhat year is your car ? This is possible, my old GT was TD04 with a decat and it was under the emissions, it was a '94 so the emissions are more lenient for this year. With the new MOT rules on decats a friendly tester is the only option.Im not aware of this do you mean DPFs ? Liam_D Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 I thought imports have no uk equivalent so cant be tested for emissions? Read it on here somewhere i think100% correct if your MOT tester is doing an emissions test they are doing it wrong. Quote
daniel_g Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 100% correct if your MOT tester is doing an emissions test they are doing it wrong. How do you work that out ? Quote
Whitenoize Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 Just buy your tester beer and leave it in the boot for him 😉 that's what I do Quote
5e colin Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 try using the stock cat like i did on my vf kit works a perfect Quote
Nanglebadger Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 No such issues with the Govt operated stations here in NI - with the age of our motors, no CAT is required. And this is straight from the mouth of an MOT tester whilst he was testing my daily as I was doing my homework for putting the EP back on the road. One of the few benefits of the MOT system in NI. Phil. Quote
Liam_D Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 How do you work that out ?Because it's correct Quote
daniel_g Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 Because it's correctWho told you that ?If carrying out a MOT properly the dropdown flowchart has to be used. Its all up there post #7 to read Quote

Ollieh17 Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 Isn't having no cat on a car that came with cat a automatic fail anyway? Quote
daniel_g Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 It has to have a non cat test yes, but not a full on emissions test.Have you actually read the flowchart ?Isn't having no cat on a car that came with cat a automatic fail anyway? On a diesel yeah.https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&ei=w1-sVK-_E4v-UPLMgIgJ&url=https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/346222/emissions_17th_edition.pdf&ved=0CB0QFjAA&usg=AFQjCNFAdLdcjZEMGMf6OjayotcsIYkK5w Quote
daniel_g Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 Ive done all the training to become a MOT tester, the only reason i havent sat the test is because at the garage where i work just now i'll be doing MOTs all day every day which would be mind numbing. Quote

oggy182 Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 It's an automatic fail on petrol now too👍 Quote
daniel_g Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 It's an automatic fail on petrol now tooAs i understand it that is only on petrol cars which require the full emissions test, not a BET." On vehicles that qualify for a full cat emissions test, check the presence of the catalytic converter."This whole thing seems to be the grey-ist of grey areas lol. Quote
Charlie28 Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 I also have a "Friendly" MOT tester who checks everything but emissions! Quote
