Beans kp60 3 door running a 5k on bike carbs
Bean replied to Bean's topic in KP40 & KP60 Progress Blogs
im not going for the t254 im going to get a T126 regrind. it should hopefully give the car a bit more power but still run ok lower down due to the bike carbs. The car still started and ticked over perfectly on the T125 which i think was down to the bike carbs so im thinking the T126 should still not be too bad low down. Ive got a few other ideas for it one of them is sending the dizzy to H+H for them to modify the ignition curve to the spec of the engine. As when the car was on the dyno the tuner said the ignition wasnt that advanced up the revs. I think the T254 would really be more aimed at -

Beans kp60 3 door running a 5k on bike carbs

Well i dont know where to start for the body work so thats on hold until i decide what im doing. So i started to strip the 5k down. the engine is very clean inside so it cant have done many miles since it was built. the bores look nice and the hone marks are still there and there was no crap in the sump or on the oil strainer. The head work looks good on the ports, i tried to get a picture showing the ports are really polished and taken right out to the gasket. the exhaust ports dont have much build up in them either head off ive been told that the engine has kent valve spring -
the fwd starlet box will not fit the 4wd transfer box.
-
are the uprated shafts really needed though?? the only person who had bother is spuddy and his car is making alot more power than most of the other higher powered starlets and it might not even have been the power that killed them more the suspension setup causing it to hop. animal gt just had stock shafts and his lasted fine.
-
hahaahha quality! i used to have a rotten 1.3 carb eg and i loved it. no limiter on them they just keep going!
-
what back box is that behind the axle? any better pics of it if its for sale?
-
How do you find that Wse200 Grant? thats a chinese one isnt it? im wanting to save up for tig welder my self but not sure what machine to aim towards.

These things always take longer than you think. I've been ready for packing in and selling up my 85 a few times. But its still there and even got a wash yesterday!
-
this used to run a big power yb didnt it? nice one with reproducing the kp trd kit, more parts been made for these cars is always good! i need to get my kp sorted out.

Do the bodywork last, no good working on the car, leaning over it when its fresh paint. I'm more bothered about how a car goes and performs than how it looks.
-
Atf mate. 350 should be no bother really and still a nice drive on a 5e.
-
Mine made 324bhp 300ft lbs there's a little more left in it yet. I'm sure a decent 2.5 inch system will be fine for most starlets. Mines got an external screamer so that gets rid of a good bit when on full boost.
-
no worries its taken me long enough. that's 2.5 yeah. I don't think you would get away with a 3 inch over the axle system.
-
pics uploading now, ive took a video showing the system and one of the car running but the sizes are 200+ and 300+ meg so it may take a while! ... right the cars still shit up for when i brought it down to the new place. heres some pics. the system isnt perfect i got it made a few years ago now and it was done with a mig as the guy didnt have a tig at the time. its tight right up against the transfer box at the front theres not really a way around this. the bend going up the axle could be improved to tuck it in better. also where it goes into the box part of the hks system was used so its

hang on give me an hour i will go get those pics i promised of mine ages ago lol.
-
i just realised the plate on this car its M13 GTT and ive got L13 GTT on mine.

It's a much nicer driving position in a gt, they drive better, better interior, There lighter, faster, don't look Like a micra and only the late ones have the skinny glanza rods!
-
Don't bother with a glanza, gt's are a different league. Such a better car! If a Honda doesn't have an lsd I don't know how they can call it a type r. I've had a few starlets and quite a few Hondas including a 91 crx vt, 99 dc2, a couple of eg's and an aerodeck vti. My daily is a 190bhp eg I converted to a b18c4 with all the running gear from the aerodeck and I love it, its a better drive than a starlet. But its crying out for boost. The vtec vs boost thing will always go on but they both have their pros and cons. The Hondas are more reliable though, but starlets can be too if there will
-
i thought so. so long as its still got its original box.
-
theres def something going on over there with their cars haha. minivalvers made 252bhp on a stock engine, injectors, fuel pump a good while back. its on the limiter every time its out 165mph+ on the clocks no worries. banging about all over the place lol. numberous 1/4 miles. Its never missed a beat. ive been in the car with him when hes turned the boost up a daft amount for a stock car and it goes like poo off a shitty stick. hes got some bigger injectors now i got for him and its definetly going back on the dyno next year, i really think it can push towards 300bhp and it will get givin death

some of the early turbo boxes were 6 bolt too werent they??
