4efe SWAP to 4efte in Corolla E11 1998
Sam44 replied to Frankieflowers's topic in 4E-FTE Engine Discussions
I've been looking at corrola makes and models/years today. It will be the dissless\waste spark system on your corrola is alot better system compared to the distributor 4efte type, which in all honesty I'd keep and use a piggy back control unit to allow you to alter fueling/fuel cut and ignition timing. The detmaster 3 seems to be a great bit of kit for £150. You will make good power. You should not have a problem finding someone to map it. Its very user friendly. I can do you a wiring diagram if you do fancy converting the engine wiring to accept a GT turbo ECU. There a -
Great to see you back on the sr. Very nice work. The polishing also makes the gearbox super quite I notice with mine. I've also fitted a deflector plate/heat gaurd in-between the rear of the radiator and gearbox front face. I was noticing the gearbox and also intercooler piping getting really quite hot after a run (radiator heat). I'm using bonnet lifters fitted to the hinges at present to let this heat out, but I'll get bonnet vents fitted next year some time. Such a nice sr this 1.

4efe SWAP to 4efte in Corolla E11 1998

Question is the corrola a dizzy ignition system or dizless system. What engine came in the corrola. If it's the 4efe it's a much easier swap. I was jumping the gun alittle thinking it was a 4efe. For the front mount intercooler you will have to Remove the bumper and measure up for the best core size. The universal intercooler pipe fitting kits sold on eBay are great for making a custom job. It's probably the best idea to get a full custom exhaust from the turbo back. The front engine mount will not be an issue then. -
Toyota starlet MK2 GT Turbo, Forged 5e build

I Definitely need a better intercooler setup I'm using water misted over the front ATM to get the core temp and charge temp I'm targeting. I'll have to get the number of the company that made this for you. -
You know your stuff great fan very efficient.

This is what I'm loving with the little thing it's fun to drive again. Power to weight is hard to beat. Looking good.

4efe SWAP to 4efte in Corolla E11 1998

The main issue will be the front to rear cross member that sits under the engine and gearbox. This has the front engine mount attached to it on that model. The GT turbo and glanza v do not have a front engine mounts. The gearbox side mount is also different but the turbo gearbox has the bolt holes there. The ep82 and ep91 turbo 4efte cat section of the exhaust will drop very close (contact this cross member) unless you have a custom exhaust made. I have a wiring diagram here that provides the additional wiring and ECU pin outs to make a harness that will plug and play to the ep82 4 -
New wheels and tyres.

There is the c54 box also if I remember right that houses the turbo lsd unit. 1 of the lads on here has recently striped a c54 to install into his sr, he should be able to confirm the differential bolt pattern. Other than that theres the 6speed c160 Levin, c60 g6 and g6r corrola I know you can still get these from Toyota and also reconditioned units. The GT turbo and glanza v aftermarket lsd units also fit these boxes. On my build thread there is a picture of a c60 differential out of the box

Morning guys. Needs must with starting a family burty, another nice little van. Between you 2 I think I've seen most of the cars Id like to own, I keep looking at the Celica and I will get 1 in the next couple of years I recon. I'll most likely put a clutched SPRINTEX charger on it. Pikey, take your time with the gt. They are getting rare now.
-
Fantastic, real history. I never expected to get so into these, but this little car has got under my skin, as well as honestly being 1 of the easiest/cost effective builds for good power. Toyota oooohhhh yes

I've just been looking at prices of the t6 haha. They are the new range rover. I see a mk2 vw Scirocco in there also. I'm guessing the GT the gt2 was the abf engine 2ltr 16v hard car to beat so low center of gravity. If I remember right there were the gtx which was the first to come with the full body kit. The GT 1.8 single cam kjet injection and the S 1.6 8v carb model. Designed originally by Audi for Porsche. The fabia is another hard car to beat the little thing pulls like a train.
-
I have a soft spot for these and the older fabia. Some nice motors in your pictures.
-
Yeh the gearbox bolts straight on. The differential to crown gear bolt pattern are different so it's hard to find a lsd unit for the 4efe box. They are out there. After around 160hp you are going to need limited slip differential

Question: what will a standard tdo4 4efe make hp wise at .5 bar of boost. The starlet is booked in for a power run on the Dyno. We have a predicted hp going off the fueling.
-
Fantastic little things. I see there is 2x turboed in the picture is the other starlet on here.
-
Yeh it will all swap over. Tidy starlet. Tell us more about her.
-
Love black cars. Most of my cars have been black.

Check out my build I've put up the difference in lift between the 4efe and 4efte inlet cam. I've also got afew turbo cams here I could sell. Would be good to see one on your build.

Claymore's sleeper 4efe+t-t+t build (R.I.P. the Nanza)
Sam44 replied to Claymore's topic in EP91 Progress Blogs
There's a lot of crank main seal issues on here from excessive crank case pressure. A decent breather system has so many positives. -
I'm working on a c64 gearbox. From a lotus 2zz engine. There are a few issues. Because of the wider stander gears this close ratio 6 speed box (sports) can bolt upto the 4e/5e (with a bell housing swap, bearings in the bell housing need changing over, but will not fit into The starlet engine bay with out cutting a 1inch depth slot into the near side chassie leg, the same length as the gearboxend cap around 4inch. The C63 in the 190hp Celica and corrola are the same but have a shorter 6th gear toping out around 140mph. I've seen these boxes handle 300hp. I've had to have

Really nice work as always, well seal is a great sealant to use inside of the engine. -
My first day off in awhile coming up today I'm designing the engines breather system. Updates to come.
-
I've just seen this now. Thank you, I'll be on shortly to sort that out. It is by far the better manifold for boosted engines 250hp and under.

I read somewhere. I think it was lukep early v build maybe ask him. From what I've read he did 1 of the first auto conversions. The throttle body will be missing a 5v supply from the ECU with the box/loom removed. Check that there is a 5v supply at the 4 pin plug.
