For sale - HKS Actuator and TRD oil cap
WallaceGlanza replied to WallaceGlanza's topic in Starlet Parts For Sale
Actuator sold..... somebody buy the bloody oil cap! -
You'll destroy the threads on the shock doing that! You would be better to remove the coilover and put it in a vice (with soft jaws) then smack the bracket until loose.
-
The vaccuum hose connected ok and not leaking? And you just have the single hose looped from actuator to turbo?
-
If the actuator spring is weak it will make the boost lower not higher as the wastegate won't be held shut.
-
The hose should be connected to the turbo and you lengthen it to turn the boost down, it will have a bit of sideways movement but should be tight to pull out.

No it's not that video and it's not even a GT but it looks like one... a shit one mind. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Qo5llXHofM Skip to 2.20 and you'll see it from there, I was watching the whole film - which is pretty gash but this bit made me pause and rewind just to see if it was a GT or not.

It has to be hooked up wrong if oil is really coming out of there, it's just a vacuum line going to the actuator which has no oil in it!
-
A supercharger is belt driven, so it's about the only place you could put it, unless you want it sticking out the bonnet!
-
Ideally you want a new washer on both sides of the banjo fitting the other one probably just got dropped! They're just 16mm (I think) copper washers, easy to get.
-
That cube works fine for me.
-
For UK roads the meister's are great. I've ran cusco's, BC's and now meister's, the cusco were great and pool table smooth surfaces but too stiff for normal roads, the BC's were better but not as good as the meister's are, and they go easily low enough!

Is a race spec rocker needed to run a catch can
WallaceGlanza replied to Lawless's topic in Lifestyle General
The ideal solution would be leaving the setup as stock but with a catch can on each breather. The PCV side pulls out the blowby gases when the engine is under vacuum and closes off as soon as it starts to boost (it is not a simple on way/check valve), then the other breather takes over, having this breather hooked up to the inlet pre turbo will help pull through the maximum gases, when back on vacuum the engine can also breath freely through the air filter. There's been diagrams posted before showing how to achieve this with a single catch can and that's how I've hooked mine up. The ca -
Ct12 wanting some info and help :)
WallaceGlanza replied to Cheznutter's topic in Intake, Turbo & Exhaust
Not all flanges are created equal, some are funny shapes and have bigger holes than others. So they're not all interchangeable directly with a CT9. -

The engine won't be breathing at all with that set up when on boost as the pcv will be closed so nowhere for the excess gases to go. -

WallaceGlanza replied to wikiz's topic in Lifestyle General
On a cheap manifold like that.... no. -
What size did you go for.... cause I just checked and it is 11mm! I would've gone for a sly edit if you hadn't replied to this so quickly!
-
I disagree It's 9mm Edit: Except it's not it is 11mm!
-
85-110 degC generally

Sounds like the oil leak is from the feed to the turbo and its been starved of oil, I had this when the feed got blocked and had similar symptoms until the turbo properly shat itself in a mass of smoke! Turbo will likely need a rebuild...

You can buy oil cooler or transmission coolers in lots of sizes so just get a small one ie 10row and definitely get a thermostat, inline stats seem to be better though, with a thermostatic sandwich plate my oil still takes ages to heat up and needs provoking to run at a proper temperature. I've not even got the cooler connected now.

Fitting FMIC with 96 spec Bumper
WallaceGlanza replied to StuDoc 72's topic in Intake, Turbo & Exhaust
It all depends on the cooler you're using - I haven't had a to trim either the 96 or 98 bumpers on mine. -
Looks good, tidy as always... but it's crying it out for some wheel spacers in that last photo. ;)
