  1. You may just have residual oil left over in the exhaust - did you clean it out at all?
  2. Nothing out of the ordinary, no cams or headwork, just forged engine with bolt ons - zisco exhaust mani with external wastegate and mapped on emanage blue. Bit far for me thanks, as I said it depends on the roads in your area, just saying country roads is pretty vague. Some of the roads I drive have tight 90's and hairpins, so 2nd gear 30mph corners - even with a ct9 there's lag out of them.
  3. If 4500 - 7000 rpm is your powerband then it's a fairly narrow one (I'm sure it's not actually that though), I agree with your point though but it does depend on the roads you drive as to what turbo suits, if you're a motorway hero then obviously a TD04 is not a problem but for twisty back roads then I would think it would be too laggy - at times I think I think my ct9 is laggy! The TD12 which tongs/enzo used to sell uses a TF035 compressor housing with TD04 internals and a CT12 exhaust housing (a proper hybrid!), imo this seems like a very good size/spec turbo for these wee cars - and f
  4. Yeah you need a pin type arm, a bolt will do the job though but the actuator needs to be able to swivel slightly.
  5. The jap slim valves are 6mm, These would fit but aren't angled:http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4-X-6mm-Tire-Valves-Tyre-Stainless-bolt-in-Slim-Weds-JDM-Jap-Celica-CRX-Tuning-/110868508732?pt=UK_Cars_parts_Vehicles_Wheels_tyres_trims_Valve_Caps_ET&hash=item19d047303c I have those same ones on my Rays but angled, unfortunately I don't know where they came from as the tyre fitter got them after snapping one my rays valves.
  6. There are loads of vacuum lines! Easiest one is probably the small one off the inlet manifold, it's nice and close to the bulkhead.
  7. It is with a speedo converter. Your torque figure is very good and if it goes well on the road that is what really matters! However a proper inlet for the turbo and larger bore decat may up the power a little...
  8. Get oil and water temp gauges first then see if you actually need a cooler/uprated rad.
  9. Front bumper looks good smoothed with the splitter. Love the number plate too, you space out the R and the second 6

  11. Whilst we're on the subject, I also wouldn't advise anyone buying this kit: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/starlet-gt-turbo-glanza-ep82-ep91-4efte-td04L-kit-new-unused-must-see-/310645124441?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item4853e46d59 Some older member should know who's selling that.
  12. No not if you have the turny knobs at present, it's not different between the ages it's different heating control - the above is climate control.
  13. You can use two sandwich plates stacked up. SImples.
  14. Do you have an oil temp gauge? Make sure you actually need a cooler before getting one. I had a dodgy coolant thermostat and thought I needed one, so bought an oil cooler (with mocal thermostatic sandwich plate) and soon after found the coolant thermostat was blocking coolant flow, changed it and then the oil runs too cool. Been running with the cooler bypassed since.
  15. No. Ask the people with an adjustable how often they adjust them...
  16. I drilled and chiselled them out, took bloody ages! Burning them out would probably be easiest.
  17. 9 psi on hi (0.62bar) and 6 psi lo (0.41bar), as standard the glanza's are restricted to lo boost in the first two gears as well with the stock solenoid in place.
  18. I recognise it, I think. If it's the same one it used to have rota GT3's and a time attack sun strip sticker, was the guys username Pav??? EDIT: I think so.... http://www.ukstarletowners.com/user/2231-pav/
  19. If it's a narrowband O2 sensor, which it sounds like, then they're not accurate so you may as well pay no attention to it.
  20. I'll admit I wasn't completely confident going with the hi spec discs but I do have the luxury of being able to get them machined if need be but the they have been fine. Radical run them on their cars so they can't be too bad - they do hold the lap record round the nurburgring!
  21. Yeah you always hear the bad reviews though - not the good ones! The problems I read about was from a good few years back and it always seemed to be the run out on the discs but these seem to be pretty good and run true. (I've not actually clocked them though) I've not done any trackdays no but a few heavy drives involving repeated heavy stops and haven't had any problems yet (on the same run with standard brakes there would be no pedal left!), that's running ferodo DS2500 pads which get better with heat too.
  22. They stop me pretty well yeah! I have the grooved ones: Discs shouldn't be expensive, these are normal vented ones not directional vents or anything but they're more than adequate for a 900kg hatchback!
