  1. such a same tom, the shells and head gasket + clutch was brand new, had a engine build recent me thinks. gutted.
  2. just got in from the night shift now fella, did u get the TB and mani complete off mibb. if so it should be set up. will pm u my number. give us a bell. also wat year is your starlet.
  3. well chuffed for u mate. awsome news. say high to jenson and lewis for me.
  4. u can get proper seal kitting tools or use black tap on the crank. having the same problem fella. just think thr cheap seals. u should have seen a toyota head gasket fit on the block deck, it was shocking, but same as the cheap after market. makes me think its all in the pakaging
  5. yep i do not even think about how much, no point. i like doing wat i do it makes me feel good. live fast die wen even it happens. i think the saying is. people bie 17k cars and still spend silly money. just think your little car that cost u 10k (turbo) can take on most cars that cost 40k chris
  6. put som sealant on outside edge + grease on inside seal helps seal mate.
  7. check out MSD ignition iddy, thy do a piggy back coil on plug system easy to install. and u will lov the throttle respons
  8. glad u lke ryan, how mad is it wen u can completly change a engines power curv. if u want to drive it light for fuel consumption u will have to be very smooth with the throttle, this will help u with set off wen u want to race. am going to be looking at som different air box set up idease i have to help both low down (for track use) and high end (for strip). need to see som dyno read out first. also u can get a corrola gen1 small throttle body, that restrics the car down to 90hp, u can use it to help daily driving fuel if u find u heavy on the foot, it also brings the power down to the botto
  9. lov it fella, and yep do not think u will find any one that does not like hondas. i have a rover 200 coupe that is coming in, that has the d16 engine, a street demon turbo kit to fit, this will be a 10sec car. with stock internals. just finished a 2ltr corsa convertion, so i cant wait to get stuck in.
  10. this is why 3 and 4 rods com out the block simple fact is thy the furthest away from the pump. 3 & 4 shells also wer quickest due to the tolerences in all shells wearing to a certain piont (which im getting to know at wat presure loss to check at). also i have found the shells suffer bad radius ride from wer the crank pins are machined and the sharp edges are left and not debured out. which is 1 of the first things i do as it affects oil presure almost straight away wen running engines in. which for people running hardend shells this marks the shell which in turn marks the crank leading t
  11. im sorry to say this but me and jellybaby was brain storming over a few different set ups for his motor at jap fest and a bunch of wat i can only discribe as prats came over slateing the starlets saying thy wer not reliable and we should just go with hondas. like every 1 else, i have my suspitions on ho thy wer and got the impression thy just bolt stuff on and expect everything to just run forever with no checks or prep work. (like hondas are good at). im afraid to say thy are playing at tunning and raceing cars. and may be thy should i fact just stick to hondas as thy do take lots of stick (g
  12. sorry if i go on abit mate, just so enthused about new lads getting on the track. just because i know wat a rush it is and the more u do it the better u get. and i know how much people spend on these cars so i can completey understand your conserns amjad. thr are several checks i always do before and after the track, and 1 is to check your big end shells and oil presure. also checking head bolt torque settings, coolant fan. tyre presure and all levels, and changing your brake fluid is a must, as i can not tell you how many people suffer with brake fade due to boiling fluid (old fluid, water co
  13. welcome to u, and these cars do get alot of respect as thy kick ass.
  14. lol, i know ollie same here pees people off so much wen u do it to, black is the worst colour for showing up marks. most of my cars have been black. looks very nice lov the back wheels steped out. sexy
  15. lov it Gee, just got me a black V myself pretty much standard and i think the up datas will look very much like this. very nice work fella. wer abouts u live. and keep it coming.
  16. yep this is a comon problem fella check valve clearance (wen hot), also i have found the gear on the exhaust cam coms in to sepert parts the front part moves about a inch and a half in both directions, thr should be a mark on it wer it is set to from the factory, a white almost tip ex mark. if you can not find the mark turn the outer gear all the way anti clock till u cant turn it no more but the teeth line up. hope this helps if u can not get the info on valve clearence i have it at my garage on the pc.
  17. yep digi gauges are better to keep an eye on but as said if thr is a problem u will feel it thn u know to look at gauges. just enjoy the experience. its like a drug, addictive.
  18. correct mate its basic physics lower center of gravity the other simple 1 is even weight distrabution. the front anti lift kit so simple but is 1 of the best handling maods as u can get masive bush diflection from the standard front swing arms. up to 20 degrees.
  19. lov it now thats a gauge. the progresize rpm/shift lights, like wat f1 use are easier to use and are just a strip of L,E,Ds which makes it alot more compact.
  20. wen u drive your motor u will now wer your gauges are at wat rpm, i can quite easly race and watch my gauges as i have thm in my eye line and know wer thy at and wen somthing is wrong just like i can see my rpm red line and thats not exactly in your eye line, the human brain is a amazing bit of kit and can mulit task. u just need to know wat u looking at and make it common place. i know wat your saying alot of gauges are for tunning and a lot are for keeping your car servicable. luke spotted his oil presure drop by a couple of psi straight away and saved his engine he just needs to reshell and
  21. not true mat, oil presure will drop slowly as the parts start to let go (rod bolts) it about minamasing damage, say for instance your engine block. but i do know wat your getting at its not just the lubricated parts that wer or let go a rod can be weakend in service and let go on track. oil presure can tell u lots about wats going on in side the engine. its a must in all engines ifu ask me. chris
  22. i also like going round differnet size round abouts near my house building my speed up slowly and seeing at wat steering angle and speed my car starts to step out or tram line. gives u a good feel for the car and conering speeds and conering G helping u to brake in the right places and not wen cornering. use the full track also u will be suprised how many people drive on track like its a 2 lane road. i know this is not about your cars engine but helps give u a feel for wat the car is capable of not leading to any nasty suprises or component failur due to harsh crazy driving. chris.
  23. like the lads have said, plus coolant level light helps as i have seen coolant loss leading to engine fail. but temp did not raise as thr was no coolant to measure. VW are the worst for this a simple sender unit switch in the cap like the 1 on the brake resi cap, but u do have to run a differnt expantion bottle plumed into the top and bottom hoses. and the exspantion tank needs to be baffeled. but this is not a must just handy. as this is wat killed my vr6 engine. 1 of the main things to remember is steady throttle build up under load get it reving thn bang tw the gears. the ring land on the
  24. lov that site tTtTGT or wat ever thy call thm selfs, was reading somthing the other day about thm going on about the tank vent on the carbon filter and not removing it or else your car may BLOW UP. utter bollocks. so thy telling us that mr toyota desind a pipe that if perished and holed wat case your car to blow up holywood stile. think mr health and safty would have somthing to say about that. head out of arse coms to mind. lol
  25. last year was amazing, and i think im up for donating to the events fund as i know you guys work bloody hard on this stuff, which shows on the day. keep it up lads. thanks. ho and how do i donate to. chris
