  1. I'll give it a go with one tomorrow, hopefully it will go a a bit smoother than tonight.
  2. I had spring compressors it on pal, I tried putting it back in and having a go as well bu still no luck. Do you reckon a Snap-On electric torque wench would do?
  3. Went to fit my new top mount tonight had the shock & spring out of the car, went to undo the nut which hold the top mount on, but the fecker is seized solid. Soaked it in WD40, but still no luck. Only process for tonight is some bust knuckles. Total ballache for something that should be a 30min job.
  4. Happy days on getting her home Phil. Good few thing knocked off your to do list as well. Getting there!
  5. I still need to make up a vacuum port, so I didn't bother starting today, plus the F1 was on Check the oil level and its 3/4 of the way up the dip stick. Here are some photos of the vacuum manifold. http://s1054.photobucket.com/user/cgreen1993/media/WP_20130630_001_zps201a3947.jpg.html'> http://s1054.photobucket.com/user/cgreen1993/media/WP_20130630_002_zpsd6b6fd18.jpg.html'>
  6. Cheers Morgey, though you might like them. If boredom takes over tomorrow, I might have a go at fitting them. I drove the car about 20 miles today and there was alot less smoke and the clutch wasn't slipping.
  7. '98 spec looks far better! Looking tidy dude.
  8. This is on their website: Legal Information We do not endorse any attempt to circumvent fuel duty. Petrol and other fuels are dangerous and should be handled only with the appropriate equipment and should not be sent through the post. We do not actually hold any trademarks. This is a parody site, not an actual trading corporation and as such any similarities in names and trademarks are covered by "fair use" provisions of intellectual property laws. Vin Diesel is a very entertaining actor, not a biofuel. There actually is company called Petrel Resources plc which is in no way related to o
  9. I though I would post this up any way, the ITB's finished. They still need a bit of a clean up though. http://s1054.photobucket.com/user/cgreen1993/media/WP_20130627_001_zps2c22f1b5.jpg.html'> http://s1054.photobucket.com/user/cgreen1993/media/WP_20130627_002_zps60856711.jpg.html'> http://s1054.photobucket.com/user/cgreen1993/media/WP_20130627_004_zps9e7e951c.jpg.html'>
  10. Nice progress in this mate, loving the attention to detail and subtle touches!
  11. Welcome to UKSO! It's great to see Starlet owners appearing all over the globe!
  12. I thought I'd post up hear and see what people have lying about. As you may be aware the car has recently gone downhill, but should be resurected in the next couple of weeks. I'm after the following: Headbolts Piston Rings Front & Rear Crank Seals Clutch Plate I have broken into the savings account, so I do have the cash waiting. I know I can source the parts from ID-Workz & Camskill, but you never know what people have lying around. Feel free to drop me a text on 07791117851.
  13. Will do mate, I'm going to create a list tonight, hopefully it won't be a long one! Am I right in thinking head bolts can only be used once?
  14. See I have heard a lot of different opinions on this. Quite a few people have said it run the engine in as it is going to be driven and some say take it easy. My neighbour who has been helping me with the car, builds and tunes race bike for the TT's, his opinion was to run it in gentle for around 300 miles then start to drive it hard.
  15. Sorry hear of you woes, from personal experience, I haven't had any issues with RHDJapan. I found the service to be great, quick responses to emails, and fast dispatch.
  16. Hopefulyl it all pays off in the end! I won't keep you hanging dude, I'll get photos of the fished product up tonight. I though it was the other way round? Take it easy when running the engine in. I haven't no, didn't really want to get it mapped while it's burning oil.
  17. I've really seen the community spirit of the N.I. members come out now. It really shows the good hearted nature of the folks on UKSO which have saved my EP! Cheers in advance for the headgasket dude! Hopefully she will be rolling strong in the very near furture! Cheers Morgey! Yes indeed N/A FTW! I'm going to put off the throttles for a while now and get the problems sorted first. Let the new rings bed in etc. I just got the finished product back yesderday too! I can't get on photobucket in work, so I'll add a few pics tonight as a teaser!
  18. It looks like the Starlet is going to be staying, thanks to the generosity of the NI members. I really appreciate the support and time both Jay and Noel are giving up to help sort the EP!
  19. That's excellent Noel, thanks very much! I can get a lend of the tool to hone the bores, that shouldn't be an issue. I've got the 5e- ECU in now and notice a good bit of difference with general drive ability. Thanks Jay, I really appreciate the generosity of both you and Noel. I'll have a chat with you guys later on and hopefully arrange something. Once again I really appreciate this! It's a horrible feeling Phil, but I really can't thank the NI members more, I really appreciate the offers.
  20. I'm really torn as to what is the best option. I'm going to have a sit down tonight work out my finances etc and see where I stand and what to do. Hopefully I will work something out and she will stay.
  21. I know what you mean mate, mine sat for 18+ months while I spent my life on public transport. I really can't be going back to it. I have the dilema of spending the money I had saved for mapping and getting it fixed and start saving again. Or split the car, cut my loses and move on. It would be a real shame to sell it on after the time and money spent on it, but the bank account is beign sucked dry and I still need to get to work and back. If only money grew on trees, eh?
  22. Well just as I'm getting the car the way I want, minus the paint, everything seems to be going wrong. The rings have completely given up now - I mean they have sh*t them selves big time, huge clouds of blue smoke. To top things off, she has developed not one, not two, but 3 fecking oil leaks, one of which is the rear crank oil seal. So I have a lovely slipping clutch now. So I'm really considering selling up and moving on which is a shame really. £250.00 should sort it, but I really don't have the time and/or patience any more and don't have the money to pay someone to do it. I
  23. A 'full stripe out' is something I always look for when buying a car...
