  1. Actually i had this once on my TD04 advance, the wastegate in the turbo had stuck open. the actuator was working fine but the penny had somehow just wedged open. It would drive ok but wouldn't boost at all. it would just sit at 0 on the boost gauge. I jujst wiggled the actuator on the exhaust end a bit and it freed it off. To be sure you could unbolt the exhaust off the turbo and have a look i suppose.
  2. went to put the transmission fluid in... transmission wasnt there... haha (friends reference)
  3. Lol that could have been an intercooler pipe departing :/ top mount or front mount? follow the pipes all the way from the air filter to the inlet and try and find something thats missing basically
  4. Got the bonnet fitted last night which wasn't too bad but the aerocatch bolts needed trimming down so they didn't foul the headlights. was a drama to get it back on all fours though as it's pretty low anyways and the toms kit makes it even lower :/ haha Test drive tonight i hope and MOT thursday at 5pm. The alternator on my advance has died on the way into work this morning so i'll have that to sort out tonight... sigh...
  5. The full build? i have no idea i didn't keep tabs on the total cost. A lot of the parts wern't encessary i suppose like clear timing cover etc
  6. I do prefer the 6 speed tbh. The gears are shorter so seem to accelerate quicker and the extra gear drops the revs slightly which is good for motorway cruising. They're a direct fit and all that requires modifying is the shifter.
  7. Yeah the clutch I bought fit the flywheel and engaged/disengaged fine but it was a few mm proud and was just catching the bell housing. I have photos I'll stick them up later. So rather than just swap the clutch (luckily I have spared of pretty much everything haha) I decided I might as well pull the 6 speed out of my knackered Glanza and put that on at the same time. I always wanted a 6 speed for it anyways. It's all back together now, modded shifter fitted etc. all interior back together and literally just need to fit the pins for the aerocatches on my bonnet and it's good to go down th
  8. UPDATE! She lives!!! So after sorting out interior a bit and fitting the wideband and boost gauge I decided to put some fluids in her and see if I could get a tune. Initially it was tight to turn over but it's had a new timing kit etc and been sat for a while so put the oil in and turned by hand with plugs out first and it felt fine after a few turns. So hooked the battery up and lt just turned over and over... I'd missed a few things like if not nipped the bottom pipe on the fuel filter up (must've got distracted haha). Sorted the few issues out but still wasn't firing Had fuel and cou
  9. It probably is when the loom is in the original position as its touching the rocker cover but I've ran the loom under the inlet. Still sees a lot of heat I imagine but I've had it that way on my advance for years and never had a problem (touch wood).
  10. Sorted guys! Thanks so much for the help much appreciated, it was indeed the earth near the icv/injectors. I'd ran the loom underneath the inlet to tidy it up a bit and forgotten the earth 😳 haha. Just put it on and got the engine light on the dash woo never thought I'd be so happy to see that light on the dash hahaha Thanks again!
  11. Thanks a lot just got to the unit. I've downloaded the ECU pin out and the full wiring diagram so if I can't sort it I'll be setting fire to things shortly!
  12. Thanks guys I'll check stuff today. Hope it doesn't turn into a nightmare... Lol
  13. Basically went to try and fire up the GT I've been building and after testing a few things come to conclusion the ECU has no power. (Doesn't light up on the dash, no spark etc). Any suggestions on what to check? Thanks!
  14. I tapped my bottom pulley off with a nylon hammer (gently) opposite sides and it came off without too much drama. Proper puller may do the job better mind!
  15. As a civvy this still panics me when i drive into camp and the MPGS are walking round with loaded rifles... even though i issue them the rifles it still panics me hahaha
  16. Not raining here still nice and sunny but the wind is getting up :/ I work for the MOD at the defence school of transport. I mainly deal with the radio kit on the vehicles but i also have responsibilities with the armoury too. kind of cool but i don't ever get to fire the weapons which sort of sucks haha
  17. I'm in a blast proof building with virtually no windows. Just been out on the airfield though trying to find some armoured landrovers though and the weather is awesome!
  18. That's what i did in my GT dude, put two springs in there, one was the spring it came with (0.5 i think, and one was a 0.8 one i bought afterwards, holds just short of a bar like that. I use a cheap mbc (i can't see the link in your pm becuase im on works computer) to up it on the glanza and that worked spot on, no complaints and held right up to the red line. An ebc will give a better level of control etc but purely to hold the correct boost an mbc will do the job until you can afford an ebc
  19. Thanks for the kind words dude much appreciated! the tints are still there dude but the marvel sticker didn't take well to the thinners it sort of removed itself really haha Did you ever send the log book off by the way? never had it through :/
  20. I have one but not sure if i want to sell it...
  21. there are two lines that are easily mixed up on the throttle body that cause the engine to burn coolant but i think you would notice. when i mixed them up on mine it literally poured smoke out the exhaust and filled the unit. and it was white smoke that smelled really sweet, not dark smoke with an oily smell :/
  22. Yeah there are silicone replacement kits available from ebay which i've used with no issues. Roose also do a full kit but they're some price. You could even just try to source a replacement OEM one from someone on here, as long as it's not cracked
