career progression for a 28 year old!
funny onion replied to richglanzav's topic in Lifestyle General
I have a foundation degree in Science that i got when i was 19 then i went on to study quantum physics and left uni with a BSc(Hons) 2:1 I have worked for the MOD since but not on a lot of money I enjoy the job i'm doing now, I control the movement and issue of Bowman (radio) equipment on the vehicles at the defence school of transport. I also work alongside the Arms Cpl who looks after the armoury. So basically i get to issue and account for the SA80's, LSW's, Pistols and bayonets and magazines which is pretty cool. But i don't get paid a fortune and i'm not using my degree. Feel li -

Lol thanks guys. Can officially say i've done everything myself, from the spraying to the stripping/rebuilding. The only thing i can't do is the drive shafts but maybe i haven't got angry enough with them yet lol. If you look on the shelf behind it in the pics Colin I have a massive collection of headlights/fog lights/tail lights/indicators. I have a totally clear set that came with it, and a clear/orange set. going to wire in amber corners so i'll see which set looks best! -

About time i did another update and threw some pics up on here! sprayed the rocker cover and fuel rail with some candy pink i had left over Engine went in! Went in ok, had a bit of trouble getting the shafts in the box properly, Sam showed me how to do them though so i know now . Went about plugging the loom back in and fitting the few bits like power steering pump etc. No mega dramas just remembering what went where and finding the right bolts haha Had to swap the thermostat housings, after about an hour of trying to figure out where a load of the plugs went... haha. -
is the arm for the float in the tank seized/stuck?
-
I think that's the worst. When it's something really simple but it takes forever to realise.
-
Agreed^^^ Drop it back in the hub and put the nut back on a few turns. Then spanner it off.
-
Oh at least when it hit me in the face it was just dirty and not full of oil! Haha could do with the floor in my lock up re levelling though! Haha
-
Did another good one yesterday. Was taking the sump off yet another knackered engine in the Glanza. All the bolts were out so off I go to pry it off. They're usually right to come off and the sandwich plate sort of holds them up. Not this time. One wiggle and it smacked me square in the face. And it was oily. Not attractive and it actually hurt quite a bit hahaha

I do stupid stuff all the time and then I get so annoyed with myself. Spent ages trying to figure out what a load of plugs were for after fitting a Glanza engine to my red GT and after an hour I realised the thermostat housings were totally different... Hammering the shit out of a track rod end to pop it up out of the hub to then realise of not taken off the 17mm nut... I could go on forever about stuff I've done while I've been trying to paint things... Like touching wet paint like a total idiot. Butterflies landing on wet paint, not cleaning a gun properly and primer spaffing all over in

You could've took pic after I'd primed them properly... Lol

forgot to mention, it's the sunday i'll be down. feel free to come over and say hi if anyone sees me!

Yeah do enjoy a gunmetal colour on a starlet. Audi have some good gunmetal colours.

Looking for a pair of MK3 GT indicators. Colour doesn't matter in the slightest but i need them to be in good condition- no scratches and no snpped brackets/locators. Thanks!

Knocking/catching noise on hard left turns (not tyres)
funny onion replied to Amjad's topic in Chassis & Suspension
I don't know if the wishbones are a different shape or not, no idea on that one :/ But i'd be tempted to say that the FARB is catching. Worth checking... i hate annoying knocks -

wishbone bushes? I assume you have uprated ones but worth checking with a pry bar maybe? -
I don't know exactly but it's more complicated than assuming displacement by going from boost pressure. Temperature plays a big part too. The ideal gas law is; PV=nRT where P= Pressure, V= volume, n=amount of substance (ie moles of air/fuel mix), R=ideal gas constant, T=temperatire I assume that the tuning industry will use something completely different, but at uni this is how I would've worked it out, by rearranging for Volume... V=nRT/P Realistically you probably wouldn't use that for an engine as it's not ideal circumstances, but it just shows that temperature plays a p

I think if you take your time and do everything properly it will be a quality build. A chance to get rid of some bodges and sort some issues out maybe...
