  1. Love the colour of the bay and it's a mint shell, will be awesome
  2. I took my mechanical has gauge apart before... Not fun at all. Very fiddly. Wouldn't recommend it.
  3. I used the original starlet cables. Just notched the shifter housing to allow it to select reverse.
  4. I used Oem Toyota seals ( I'd bought a full engine gasket set from iddy for an engine I want to build up) Heard a few bad reports of the zisco ones etc.
  5. You'll be fine if I can do it anyone can lol let us know how you get on
  6. Just had a quick skim through that guide looks spot on.
  7. Post a thread up when you've done them dude I might invest in the adapter so I can use the compressor in future (not that I want to do them again lol)
  8. Yeah basically used soft string but you really have to pack it in so it can't be too stiff (lol). A few times when the engine was turned back over it turned out the valve had nipped the string so the string wouldn't pull out- just had to turn it over and push the valve down and wiggle the string. Just used a bar on the bottom pulley to turn it over. Yeah that magnetic thing sounds ideal, the breaker bar under the fuel rail was fine but with it being a round bar and an oily environment it slipped a few times. Something to catch the collets would be ideal. In hindsight I should've put a bit o
  9. I've done mine with rope in the bore. It's tricky and you need patience. Took a good few attempts to pack the bore so that the valves stayed shut when the piston was brought up. Removing the collets was interesting too. I used the compressor part from a valve spring compressor and levered a bar under the fuel rail. You need to be very careful not to lose the collets as they tend to ping off with force. It's not that bad really like I say just don't be just don't be in a position where you're rushing and take your time. Needle nose pliers needed to put the collets back on the valve. May h
  10. There's a few lads in York I believe. I'm from hull and work near Beverly. Put some pics up of your car!
  11. When are you painting it then? And i know you won't tell me but... what colour?
  12. Are you a sprayer? if so then go for something cool like a metallic bronze or something!
  13. Sam has put a non PAS rack from an ep80 in his and i had my EP80 as my daily for a year without PAS. i think it's the worst thing you can do to them absolute dog shit without it. Sam thinks it's the best thing ever though....
  14. Would've had the 6 speed if you wern't at the other end of the country :/
  15. I will after work- no signal for fb here
  16. I would also be tracing the injector loom back to the ECU. It's easy to tug on a wire a little bit too hard when removing/fitting engines i suppose. check the fuses and plugs. I hate frustrating problems like this
  17. I'm looking for a set of EP82 amber indicators. Currently have clear ones for the MK2 but i'm a sucker for amber corners on a GT so a set of amber MK1/MK2 indicators would be perfect. Or i'd consider some MK3 ones for the right price even though they have the border. Let me know what you have!
  18. Compressor isn't the problem we have crap electrics down our lock up. The unit next door use bench saws etc and if they're using power tools our unit suffers. The compressor either doesn't kick in at all and needs resetting or it kicks in but it's very sluggish. Only happens when next door are using electric or if someone is welding. I just didn't notice that it had been a while since i heard it kick in hence the drop in pressure and by the time I realised I'd already pretty much put a full coat on one side lol Thanks for the kind comments guys I'll update again when I get chance as its co
  19. Ah right that's ok then as long as you know the reason why they are there. As above i'd clean them up, new rings and put them back in. The purists will no doubt come storming along saying how you shouldn't use them anymore etc etc but from a realistic point of view i would...
  20. Sorry- I totally didn't read the first few lines i just looked at the pictures haha If they're forged then i'd clean them up and put new rings on them. Ideally you would want to replace but if you don't want to spend that much money (which i wouldn't) i'd try a new set of rings and a clean up. Why has it been det'ing? is it mapped?
  21. Just get a full set out of an engine with a blown bottom end or something. While they're out you may as well put a better set back in :/
