Yeah I have a fuel pressure regulator and a wideband fitted to keep an eye on the afr's. Power wise the more breathing mods the better the power figure but you can use them on a virtually standard car tbh Would recommend -

Thanks for the comments guys, a few people who have seen it in person have said that i should've done the car all that colour, if i ever get another glanza project i will! I still have a load of the paint left Seeing as i never got around to putting some photos of the valve stem seals here you go; And a few wee updates... Splashed out (again) on an OEM rear brace and plastics and managed to get it fitted yesterday; Bought a few CT9's off members on here inclusing a speedvision hybrid so i've got my fingers crossed that one of them will be ok and not smoke/shit itself! I had planned on waiting until i had fitted a non smokey turbo before fitting the ECU but yesterday I had an impulse and fitted it! the turbo is already smoking so it can only get worse haha nothing to lose turbo wise. So in it went! 2 min job! Turned the boost up to 0.9 bar. Goes like an absolute rocket. AFR's look good on the gauge but maybe a tad too rich so might back it off slightly on the reg... But all in all it's an absolute rocket! I can see the appeal of the TD04 set up- my Advance has been my daily for 4 years and it's been TD04 for nearly 3 years... But it is so much fun to drive a CT9 rocket, the instant spool is incredible! a good CT9 set up is very underrated i think! As soon as the speedvision turns up i will fit that and the HKS silent power so hopefully one night this week! I will uppdate when I do! And a wee pic of them togther on my drive! -
So those of you I know in person will know that I have a fair few starlets, not just the Glanza and the GT Advance that people have seen on here... As the Glanza was approaching a roadworthy position, I was looking for a project for the future. I was sort of keeping an eye open on here/facebook/ebay etc but wasn't actively looking. I had rough ideas for a glanza or GT project. If i ended up with another glanza, i wanted to spray the full car the same colour as my recent project glanza (bright pearl pink basically like the cruise pink). If i got a GT I always had fancied making one up to look like the TOMS GT (3E5 red with full TOMS kit). So one day I saw a thread on here asking for some advice on how much a GT was worth as a full car. It had a blown bottom end and no MOT etc but it was a complete car with all body panels and interior (which makes life much easier although i do have epic amounts of GT spares now lol). After a few PM's me and the lad came to an agreement and I arranged for Sam and the lad who shares our lock up to go collect it on his flat bed (I couldn't make the trip as I had to see to my horse) Here are some photos from the original thread on here; And parked in it's new home- my lock up! The spec it came with was; - standard 4efte with blown bottom end - mint OEM EP82 wind deflectors - mint OEM arm rest - 15" team dynamics with 195/50/15's R888's good tread all round - genuine TOM's horn button - Genuine OMP deep dish wheel and boss kit - autobahnn front mount intercooler - Full exhaust system unknown make - Carrozzeria Speakers on the parcel shelf (I believe they light up but not tested yet) - JDM 60mm boost and water temp gauges and 2 pod A pillar - Lowered on spings (not had a look yet as to what springs/shocks they actually are) - Tinted rear windows and boot - Loads of spares Since it arrived i've had nothing but bother with my Glanza (see that project thread for some lols) so i've not had much chance to get stuck into this GT. But I have started to source some parts and spray up some parts for it. Sourced some TOM's side skirts and some rear spats from JDM EP (cheers guys) and had already ordered a TOM's spoiler from iddy. Also purchased a modifed grill from JDM EP- a mk2 grill that had been cut out and meshed but i think it looks awesome. Due to a bit of a mix up i ended up with an EP82 ducktail by mistake from id-workz but i ended up keeping it for this GT as i do love a GT with a ducktail Here are a few pics of the little bits i've done so far; I had braced myself for the sideskirts as they looked like they had taken a bit of a baterring at some point. there were quite deep scratches on the underside. Also, when they had been sprayed previously, there must have been a reaction, and they were COVERED in small bubbles all over (as were the spats). I've sprayed things that were like this before and they took a few coats of primer and flatting in between to get rid of the bubbling. I took the paint right off to see if there were any signs of previous repair. I was actually surprised to find that there were only a few very minimal areas of filler, no big areas of fiberglass, result! Anyways, after a few prime/flat/prime/flat it came out really good! (looks better in person) Didn't get any photos during the prep etc of the spoiler but you can see if in this photo; And a wee photo of the grill once i had put it back together with the mesh etc And that Rear bumper and spats And that's about it up to now, i need to sand down the other skirt and prep that, and i want to get the bootlid off and get that painted, do the boot shut and then the back end can all go on. I know it's not ideal to spray a car that way but i don't have the room to take every part off and spray them all then bolt it all on once the shell i sprayed. So ill do the back end, fit and mask it off, then work my way up the trim etc. I don't have any specific plans on what turbo kit and set up i want to run on it, but i am thoroughly enjoying the CT9 on the glanza so maybe a nice CT9 set up with a hybrid from Liam D. But that's all a while away yet! Eventually i will probably sell the glanza project cheapish and just keep the GT's... who knows... but for now i'll enjoy them all!

Tubine on td04 the same as a td04l
funny onion replied to koolza132's topic in Intake, Turbo & Exhaust
I'm not sure exactly but I do know that when I went to swap housings on a top entry and side entry td04 the impellers were totally different and as a result I couldn't swap housings -
You need different headlight brackets but yes everything fits. The electrical plugs may be different but everything can be wired to suit. I have a mk1 bumper with dogs and splitter I used to have on my gt

Are you picking parts up from someone? It's my birthday tomorrow so I'll be out for the day or I would've met you and had this from you

Why do things just look so good in primer? Really hope it's done for JAE, would love to see it! (and pester you for some spraying advice haha) -
It could do with checking so that you know it's fueling ok. do you have a wideband? 2.6 seems a bit lowtbh, how did you set it? with the vac line off or on?

It lives again! New engine is now fitted and running well. While the engine was out took the oppertunity to do the driveshaft seals on the gearbox as they were a bit weepy and i had already bought them from toyota a while back. Stuck the standard CT9 that came with the MK2 i bought on while I get the tongs sent off to liam when i get organised. Turns out the seals have gone on that one too. This car literally hates me haha. It's fine on boost/cruising/over run, but when you open the throttle after over run it guffs a load of smoke out. And in traffic it smokes a fair bit too haha bad times once more. Grabbed another CT9 from Kieran so i'm going to try that and if still no joy rebukd one of the standard ones. The chatter sounds so epic on a standard CT9! Also just bagged a nice bit of JDMness from the lads at JDM EP- a HKS Hi power silent exhaust. It has sexy JDM angle on the backbox (something i've always wanted) and it should make it even more quiet (i don't dig the ott loud exhausts, not my cup of tea) So will swap the turbo AGAIN at the weekend and fit the HKS exhaust at the same time probably. Once i find a turbo that's not goosed i'll be fitting the SRF plug and play too and turning the boost up a bit, it's only boosting 0.4 at the minute and it's not that exciting at that amount of boost haha. -

Mine is set at medium. I don't think i'd want mine on hard because the c pillar, 3 point rear strut and cage make it very stiff on the rear already :/ -
Cheers anyway, i'm tempted to get the standard one on there and take the chance. my unit is becoming a storeage area for knackered 4efte's and turbo's haha

It's gto some scoring on the shaft and had some fair carbon deposits. Took it apart to put new seals in and found it to be in a bit of a mess, but hopefully he can sort something with it. standard ct9 in the meantime
-
Spoke to him yesterday, going to get my tongs to him and see if he can do anythign with it, if not he can build me one which is cool so either way could be sorted hopefully!

Yeah it's a nice colour to spray, much more forgiving than metallic paint. my EP80 is 3E5 red too I need to start a thread for my other starlets actually, i'll get a load of pics tonight or tomorrow and get some threads going. Moved onto the GT for something fresh because this glanza was driving me insane lol Maybe this weekend it will be back out on the road, we will see... lol -
I did think about that option- I'll drop him a message now, cheers!

2K primer, single part paint, 2k lacquer Just started spraying my MK2 GT bits in 2k 3E5 red (the same red glanzas come in) and i find it much easier to work with. Makes me wish i'd have done the glanza in a solid colour tbh not metallic -

I would've never dared respray my Advance but seeing as this was already sanded down i had no choice. Could have matt blacked it but i personally hate matt blacked cars- just looks cheap and nasty to me but i can understand why people do it. -

Yeah tell me about it, worst luck ever. Luckily the MK2 GT i bought a few months ago came with (what appears to be) a good standard CT9 so i'll probably just fit that until i can find another hybrid or see if it's worth rebuilding mine. Stupid cars. -

Lol didn't bother checking clearances, I knew i was taking a risk but i thought it was worth a try. But no, knocked again when i fired it up... So as it stands i bought another engine off socks and thats in now Went to put new seals in the turbo while it was off and upon taking it apart found it was coked up to hell and the shaft was scored... So the bad luck continues, and hence the wanted thread for another turbo
