  1. Sounds like you may have a cold temp thermostat in the engine or your thermostat is stuck open. The radiator fan cuts in at 91 degrees and the standard thermostat opens at 82 I believe.
  2. I'm a civvy so I'm only on a class 3 recovery course. Turns out being a civil servant has its perks 😉 I'm down here until the 9th June but I go home every weekend.
  3. Ah cool. Yea looks like a tidy car from what I have seen. I'm there on a recovery course at the moment. 7 1/2 weeks to go!
  4. Re-shell the gt into another gt shell. Spray engine bay, strip and clean coilovers/new springs. Japfest 2 and jae. Besides that going to Isle of Mann for the southern hundred 😄
  5. Looks pretty tidy from what I've seen of it. Il try and get a few cheeky snaps of it 😄
  6. Spotted a nice looking white glanza behind the gym at bordon. Any one on here?
  7. I can make a how to if you would like? I'm re shelling my gt and need to swap everything over to the new shell. Good idea with the grommet when passing anything through metal. Don't want the positive shorting out. Also you want the fuse as near to the battery as possible. As for a kill switch they are easy. On mine I could remove the key for the kill switch and the alarm would still work as I wired an in line fuse for the alarm. If you attempted to start it without the key in it would Pop the alarm fuse. As for where to attach the positive in the engine bay I went direct to the starter motor.
  8. Rich we have loads of starlet parts. Between the two of us we currently have 7 starlets 🙈 charl you need to do an update as loads more has gone on since the last update 😋
  9. The 109whp pull was on a standard ct9 with a wepr power up kit. Charls made 163whp on a wepr evolution manifold with a td04 externally gated. Even with only 163whp it goes like a bullet. Smooth controllable power all the way through the Rev range. Did your mapper set up the fuel pressure reg at all? Did he mention what duty cycle your injectors are at wide open throttle at the top of the Rev range?
  10. Just so people are aware this is axle bhp. So at the hubs, not flywheel or on a rolling road. The power and torque figures should cross at 5250rpm but I guess the aspect ratio is out to get the graph on the scale. Is your walbro a high pressure one iddy? There are two types. It may flow 225lph but only at 35psi for instance. Anything more than that and the pump will cavitate and burn out. Plus if your running 1 bar of boost your pump will need to be able to run 50psi of pressure without cavitating. 35psi+15psi boost will give you 50 psi of fuel pressure required. Looking at the graph your
  11. The idea with that one is that the engine coolant heats the oil and also cools it if needs be. It keeps the oil temp at around 80-90 degrees even after I've been driving with "spirit"
  12. A bit like this......... http://s167.photobucket.com/user/flaminsam/media/Mobile%20Uploads/image.jpg.html
  13. I've fitted a oil cooler from another toyota. A carina I think it was from. It uses coolant from the engine to regulate the oil temp. Bit like a sandwich plate between the oil filter and the filter housing. I also have an oil temp gague in the oil filter housing to keep an eye on the temps.
  14. We don't have buffalo at leccy. Got husky for now but they are leaving. :/ husky are my favourite trucks to drive and work on :/
  15. Colin I had some seals from a vehicle at work that fit. They are from a fox shock absorber. Don't worry charl it won't be going far 😊
  16. The end is nigh. I havnt updated this thread in a very long time. I'm not one to boast about my updates etc but this one needs saying. The shedlet is going to be no more in a few weeks time. Bigger better and shinier things are on the horizon. I'm not leaving the starlet scene by a long shot. I've taken over charlottes ep80 that she has kindly donated to me. I've already started on that as some people know. For now though I'm stripping the shedlet to how I originally bought it. All will become clear in due course. For those who know what I'm doing let's keep it a secret for now 😉
  17. Well due to most people that I've asked coming to a blank I've found this......... http://www.importperformanceparts.net/imports/toga_oilpumpstoyota.html Lists one for a 5efe but not a 4efte? Are these pumps the same?
  18. It's in the testers manual. Simple flow chart. Is the car an import, first registered before 96? Carry out non cat test. After 96? You glanza boys may have problems if you get an anal tester.
  19. Hey everyone, I've noticed a massively common trend going on throuought the starlet community. The fatal bottom end rattle. I've seen numerous posts about big end shells failing, picking up and general buggery. My question is surely there should be a way to combat this? I know of a few people "upping the oil pressure" by placing a thicker or another washer in the oil pressure regulating valve. Does this actually work or is it just moving the problem elsewhere? Has any one ever thought of modifying the pulley on the pump? Even one less tooth will provide more flow at tick over and at high rpm
  20. Can always do a bit of a drive out then maybe end up at somewhere like Mr moos for an ice cream? Failing that a bit of a drive out and a bite to eat somewhere?
  21. Saw a silver glanza last night going down the a63 into hull at about 10.20pm? Had a ukso sticker in drivers side rear window? Looked tidy and pretty quiet 😀
  22. The emAnage blue doesn't support a 0-5v lambda sensor reading if I remember right. The standard ecu doesn't either. Standard lambda sensors operate at 0-1v so don't plug the wideband into the standard wiring either. You can get a convertor from eBay that changes the signal (0-5v) to 0-1v if I remember right.
  23. Firstly welcome to the starlet scene. As morgey has already said the wiki section is a good place to start. I also find reading through progress threads are a good idea too. Take in people's ideas and see if they have had any problems.
  24. Well as said above the sump has now been cleaned out and fresh as a daisy. Ordered some standard big end shells from king bearings and they should be here tomorrow all being well. As for the pictures here they are. 😞 The crank looks a lot worse than it is. A bit of wet and dry emery should clear the crank up nicely. You can't feel any debris by finger (10 thousands of an inch!) so hopefully there should be no drama. 👍 watch this space.
  25. Just something I stumbled across Adam. I want some softer springs for my gt as the ones that have come with the coilovers are ideally suited for a car with a full interior etc. charl has the same coilovers on her gt with a full interior and it handles superb. Mine on the other hand is lighter (no interior in the back etc) so it tends to skip around a bit on the rear end. Out of interest does anyone know the standard corner weights of a mk3 gt?
