Ah it's fine! All in the prep work ;)

So after a few weeks of working away I decided to crack on with a bit on the new gt. we also had a new addition to the lock up that will make life much easier in the long run when working on our cars 😉 Currently put together but needs wiring in and bolting to the floor before we can use it 👍🏻 So I decided to do a bit more to the bay. The wiring loom on my car had more wires In it than it really needed so I decided to remove all air con wires and all other wiring that's not needed anymore. This is some of the wire I removed. Then I decided to try and hide th

Small update for you guys, I'm working away for the next four and half weeks so progress will be slow but steady. It's the weekend after the bay has been sprayed and it looks amazing! I've in masked the parts that were covered and started to re fit items to the bay. Here is how it currently stands. I've also bought some parts from lew from his old shell to make this that little bit tidier inside. Bought some well made alcatara door cards and also his cusco catch tank with the lines already made up 👍🏻 These will be getting fitted in due course. On the other hand, charl

They are forged rods and prob forged Pistons. Good find! the sumps are a pain to seal. Also the oil seal on the crank is a little awkward but not impossible to do. Another thing to look at is possibly the dip stick tube. That has a small o ring on the bottom and I've had a few leak before ;)

It shouldn't do depending on the filter itself. If the filter is designed to work on a pressurised system like a starlet one for instance then it's possible that the filter element has collapsed causing the fuel starvation. He may be better off just putting a filter after the 044 to the engine really.
-
No worries The low pressure pump may not have enough flow to feed the 044. A walbro or similar will help as it will be able to feed the swirl pot with enough fuel to allow the 044 to work properly.
-
Does he have an In tank pump? The Bosch 044 needs to have a gravity feed from the swirl pot as it doesn't "suck" as such. Something like a walbro 255 in the tank to feed the swirl pot should do it. Then the 044 should have plenty of fuel supplied.

Try compound charging the two inlet sides then possibly? They won't fight each other then 👍🏻

O ring seal on the back of the water pump. If that hasn't been replaced then chances are it will be that. Also use something like Vaseline or grease to help the o ring slide into the housing otherwise it will grab and not seal correctly.

Now I've seen it Colin I understand how it's set up. Due to the first turbo getting the exhaust gasses first it is causing the second turbo to surge. You may be better off feeding the two turbo's from two runners each. A bit like how a rb26 runs two t28's. So turbo 1 on cylinder 1/2 and turbo 2 off 3/4? That way equal amounts of air will be flowed to both turbines. Failing that I don't see how you will get the turbos to spool up together? Failing that you can do the same on the inlet sides of the turbo, so the outlet of turbo 1 feeds turbo 2 inlet then turbo 2 outlet feeds the intercooler/eng

Are you compound charging? If so big turbo feeding smaller turbo ;) how are the turbo turbines set up? Is it one exhaust housing feeding another or are you running twin down pipes with independent feeds from the manifold?

Is your fuel pump cavitating? Injector duty cycle?

Could be one of many things. Where abouts is your pressure sensor located? It could be a worn or incorrectly sealed oil pump, pressure regulating valve worn/weak spring pressure, worn big end and main bearings on the crank. Personally I'm not keen on oil coolers that do not have thermostats. You are in effect taking oil away from the engine, filling oil coolers, pipe work etc and expecting the standard pump to cope with the extra work. I know oil coolers are needed on these engines as There's no form of oil cooling system in place and the oil overheats when going on track. Just my opinion,

Yea plenty of time on this one. Need to sort a few oil leaks on the engine and the wiring loom needs pulling to pieces to get rid of un-needed wiring Not to mention get the bumper and splitter sorted out with the wings 😊

Mikey yea I want to crack on with this as soon as possible. Get everything swapped over so I can enjoy boost again Nick, this would be starlet number 8. Currently charl has four and I have four 🙈

Cheers for the comments 😊 I'm away on a course at the moment so the going is pretty slow. Il be taking parts off my gt this weekend all being well and possibly rebuilding parts of the bay. It will be a pretty slow build but a quality one. 👍🏻 Thanks again to charl for spraying the bay for me! 😃

Hey guys and girls, guess it's about time I started a new build thread about my new shell. I purchased the shell from a well known member on here who will remain anon for now. 😀 We settled on a price that we were both happy with and a deal was struck. The shell was collected with no interior, tailgate, bonnet, wings engine etc. I was happy with what I got as the plan is the reshell the shedlet Into this mint shell. While I'm swapping parts over certain parts will be getting overhauled and some parts replaced with new items. So I set about stripping the remaining parts from the eng

I just fitted an ep80 steering rack and steering column to my ep82. Can't just fit the rack as the u/j on the manual rack are bigger than the pas rack.

As far as I'm aware, wires to ignition must be black. All of them that go to the alarm. They must be soldered joints and covered with elec tape or heat shrink. The power for the alarm must come from a clean power (from battery) the alarm must have its metal casing around the main box. Besides that I think there are a few more rules but can be found on the thatcham website I believe.

How many lads on ukso are at bordon at the moment then? When do you finish scaz? Pikey how long is your bulldog course on for?
-
Sounds to me like timing is out on the ignition. As morgey said, bridge out the two ports in the diagnostic port to set the static timing. 10 degrees before tdc. I also find a paint pen or tipex helps to see the marks on the bottom pulley and the lower timing cover.
-
Damn! That's a long time. Almost up until the camp closes! Will you lads be going to the new base near Oxford then? Are you on a basic course or something scaz?

JAE 2015, officially the biggest JAE to date.

Did I read right a 4x4 track?! -
Your better off putting a new one in. Really simple to do. You say your fan spins on cold? Chances are that the a/c has been removed and the four pin switch behind the drivers side headlamp hasn't been bridged.
