Rob H@RCH Engineering Posted May 7, 2015 Author Posted May 7, 2015 Shite wheels... the rest is awesome! I was thinking about changing them for some nasty white ones I have! So I might do yet!!! NOT!!! Quote
Rob H@RCH Engineering Posted May 7, 2015 Author Posted May 7, 2015 Cheers for the comments lad except that Wallace bloke! Well since I fitted the OS Giken clutch the pedal has been right at the bottom which I thought was normal for that clutch but after 35,000 miles and hours of dyno time it had got to the point I could not get gears at all, So I pulled the box today and this is what I found! this clutch was apparently a factory recon that I very much doubt now! This is the friction plate notice the gap between the ruler and the drive spline hub, the hub should be higher than the face of the disc! its like a bowel!! Same for the pressure plate disc! That should be flat! So into the lathe it went! I used the tool grinder in the lathe to grind the surface flat. This is a spare plate I had for the clutch on the pressure plate side of the disc you could see it had only been working on the first 10mm of the outside edge of the disc, this is how I know the clutch must have been like this before I fitted it to my car!! but at least this one was flat still! you can see the ruler sits on the drive hub NOT the outside edge of the disc. So I put it all back together and its like a new car!! I dont need half as much travel to clear the gears and the bite point is where it should be now! Im going to order some new parts for the clutch now I know what was wrong with it but at least now I know it will get me to japfest!!!! Quote

Rob H@RCH Engineering Posted May 11, 2015 Author Posted May 11, 2015 Just ordered one of these! Should make things fun once its all set up! Quote
Rob H@RCH Engineering Posted May 13, 2015 Author Posted May 13, 2015 Well the switch turned up! Just need to fit it now and get it all set up but that will be some time after Japfest now! Its going to be epic lol Quote
Rob H@RCH Engineering Posted May 13, 2015 Author Posted May 13, 2015 Cheers mate! The switch is for the traction control mate so it will run different modes ie wet, dri and so on, it may have othere functions too but thats what its main job is. Quote
TimD Posted May 13, 2015 Posted May 13, 2015 Wont you need to retrofit ABS for traction control? Quote
Rob H@RCH Engineering Posted May 13, 2015 Author Posted May 13, 2015 No mate its all done through the speed sensor on the drive shaft and the aem ecu same as the boost by gear and launch control, we have had it working already but going to set it up so its stepped for different conditions. Quote
TimD Posted May 13, 2015 Posted May 13, 2015 Interesting.. How does it work then, just lower boost or adjust timing, or..? Quote
Rob H@RCH Engineering Posted May 13, 2015 Author Posted May 13, 2015 It adjusts the timing and boost or just the timing or just the boost lol we will see what suits the car best and use that! Quote
Rob H@RCH Engineering Posted May 27, 2015 Author Posted May 27, 2015 A few recent picks! from our hols after Japfest! Quote
