  1. I still say front ball joints, mine were "fine" in 08 according to an mot, changed out these £30 a pair parts and an hours work and transformed my car. If your car feels wollowy then these are the most likely culprit. Bushes maybe not so much but it ain't going to hurt.

  12. Ahh nice! he writes for ppc magazine which is obviously Uk only But Check out his website, articles are on the menu bar on the top. http://www.emeraldm3d.com/
  13. Its an old thread now but emerald is run by dave walker, from the town i live in, he has a coloumn in practical performance car which is worth a read. Some of the cars that come through his place are unreal, from dakar race buggies to v8 rx7's and numberous race teams from across europe so he must be doing something right! Its not cheap though, about £600 notes plus will need wiring in then mapping about another £400 from him ,but they are top notch gear.
  14. The code is yes, satin black metallic 205 But they do differ slightly, the metallic is different between the 2 usually
  15. Id imagine the reason youve got the oil leaks is down to the rings going, you'll now have excess crank case presure so all the seals will be put under extra strain. Sort the rings and you'll prob sort half the leaks! Just because you're at a low don't give up, let it sit for a while then crack back on when you feel like it. Mine sat for 14 months got a 2nd car saved loads of dolla then ended up buying my 20v and some other goodies in that time. Some times good things come from letting things sit
  16. That last one is a spoiler. Lol
  17. Im pretty sure carbon goodies uses the same carbon cultures to supply them. Or atleast he gets parts from them as i remember seeing some packaging in one of his posts
  18. If ya want to get all technical theres a equation you can do. Roughly 0.000008702 x drag coeffient x frontal area x desired speed (cubed) Seems an ep91s drag is 0.33 frontal area is hard to judge but they do it for a 288 gto ferrari at 20.5 so you can assume ours is bigger and disired speed of say 170mph So with a frontal area of say 25sqr ft?? Might be a bit big? Lol 0.000008702 x .33 x 25 x 170 (cubed) = 352 You would need 352whp do to 170mph But for every .5 extra square footage frontal area you need 12whp to do the same speed or the opposite if it were smaller Change the desired speed to 130 mph and you need 157whp This is also out as they did theres for a rwd car and ours are fwd the front area is just a guess as well but you get the idea Info from here http://www.bobnorwood.com/300%20mph%C2%A0%20The%20Aerodynamics%20of%20Drag%20and%20Power.htm
  19. ^^^ yeah thats the biggest factors. I think i read somewhere it takes about 270hp (not sure on what torque) to hit 170mph but thats the limit of our boxes with the stock 7800 limiter and you have to hope both power and torque are still climbing at that point. Edit: thats in general for any car not specific to starlets by the way
  20. I've seen 127mph on satnav speedo was past the end of my clock. Prob around the 135-140 on the speedo area. Car was still going but ran out of track. Thats with 175hp but reckon it would struggle to get much more than 135 satnav speed, which would put it at 145-150 speedo Oh and bear in mind mines n/a so dont have the torque of the turbo boys ;)
  21. I've used it, struggled on the silver that my speedlines came in but aftermarket paint comes straight off.
  22. Could be, might be worth checking the fuses with a multimeter first though. Is easier haha
  23. Revs are picked up from the distributor and sent to the ecu, might also be sent to the dash at the same time on a second wire. Heaters, the fan not blowing or are they not warm? Plug on top of gearbox is reversing light sensor
