  1. i just brought my recaros from a glanza, much easier mwhahaha :harhar:
  2. that looks sweet, not a massive fan of carbon wrapping but it works really well just have to get some carbon window switches next
  3. erm i think u will need to take the cambelt crank pulley off aswel, which obviously means the cambelt needs to be slackened, so auxbelt off (which it obviously is lol)engine to tdc. then removing all the covers loosen the cambelt tensioner and then that one should slide (tap and leaver) off then the key should be removable from that point. then work backwards from there on reassembly i am only going from memory and what my 4age is like so if the 4efe is different i do appolagise.
  4. bit of an update bit of bad bit of good!, I've had a clicking/tapping noise coming from my engine ever since i serviced it a month or two back and just put it down to the 0-40 fully synth oil i was using as it only happened when warmed up and on idle. any rev's it dissapeared. But.... put simply a bolt from the engine mount fell off within in my timing belt casing and very very luckily found its way to the outside of the belt and got wedged in the plastic casing behind the crank pulley. the clicking noise was the head of the bolt tapping against the aux belt pulley! it was only by shear chance i saw it, i noticed the pulley had a slight wobble so turned it off, got down on my knees looking through the grill of the car with a spanner to check the pulley was tight which is when i saw it heres some pictures of the damage. like i say, think i got very lucky considering I've recently done a lot of miles in it and most of them hard, it could have easily been bye bye 4age but a trip to toyota with a mate to hopefully get a slight discount on a full cambelt kit and new waterpump and she'll be as good as new other than that I've now got optional V recaro front and rear seats but as my phones crap and the interiors quite dark i cant get any pictures i have a genuine SR decal kit im getting copied by a friend so i can always have new/different colour kits made up, if need be HKS SLD is fitted and as i figured, it buries both clocks in 5th and very nearly in 4th aswel (tested on a private road ofcourse) still no hks manifold as its a nightmare to heatwrap, no RARB as i havnt done the manifold yet. erm other than that im all out of updates :/ so heres a random picture of my car
  5. I've been on here years and im only just half way think most of us will be fossils by the time i reach 1000
  6. i think you need to get a life haha
  7. I garentee you will want to change the seats and door cards when u get one ;) haha Good thing is if u want more power theres always the option of the turbo engine! As for cars for sale Try the classifieds on here or toyotagtturbo.com Then pistonheads is worth a look every so often, theyre quite a rare car the sr's less than 800 produced if I remember correctly, so deffinately worth taking your time on finding a good one ;)
  8. ooo nice. might get some for my rad piping will neaten the look up loads even if its a bit ott lol
  9. welcome along, good choice on the car i must say ;) looks like youve looked into these a lil bit yes the tte backbox is very hard to comeby but remus make a similar one. the suspension is lowered 25mm on tte springs on slightly uprated shocks (i think) i dont think they have shorter ratio's by the way there is a few other models with rev counters but none with the looks of the SR's tbh theres nothing outstandingly obvious i can think of that you need to look out for. the engine if serviced regularly should last way past 100k the gearbox's are probably the biggest issue, 2nd gear synco can ware out and become notchy when trying to shift into it hard or fast. problem being on a test drive its hard to give the car enough stick to find if its got this issue, but it in no way effects the day to day drive of the car and will most likely outlast the lenght of ownership toyota got these cars pretty well rust protected aswel so if theres any signs of rust its prob best steer clear. other than the obvious bits to look at when buying a car, i cant really think of much, but im sure some others will give you a few pointers! enjoy your stay
  10. Or the knee suport, and the design is different, the grey fabric is stitched 50/50 in oposite directions on V recaros ;)
  11. that sucks dude, but woodruff keys are removable i think, cant u just replace that? then get a nice new shiney set of ally pulleys? ;) oh the key should stick up about 4mm or so i think. about the height of the notch on the pulley.
  12. I've seen people walking cats befor lol! Im currently bringing myself to dismantle my car in attempt to see the damage a loose bolt in the cambelt casing can cause....
  13. Ok so ever since finishing my most recent engine swap on my car over a year ago now its been an absolute gem, nothing gone wrong at all. That is until last friday when it desided it would be a good idea to pop a rad hose at midnight! Yeah nice1. So today I set about fixing to to stop it happening again and in doing so notice the crank pulley has a slight wobble, so go check its tight. As I reach in with the spanner I notice a bolt wedged through the cambelt cover between the pulley the oil pump housing! Oh shit im thinking. So proceed to Take the cambelt cover of to find the belts fubar'd , and that a bolts fallen out of the engine mount! Ok so its my own fault for not locktighting them etc but It just feels like its the start of a bad begining.... Again!! Anyway heres a link to a pic on my facebook />https://m.facebook.com/?_rdr#!/photo.php?fbid=10151710165255154&id=611295153&set=a.10150164057515154.433755.611295153&__user=611295153 Im guessing im lucky I caught it when I did, an that it didnt go when I was 160miles from home, which would also have meant a new engine as this ones an interferance one. Just a ball ache to do a cambelt in car now lol
  14. sounds like what 4age 20v's do when theyve got a dodgy lambda, might be worth a shot!
  15. usually any old shampoo, makes no difference imo, polish wise i like autoglym but not the srp but the ultradeep shine stuff (for darker cars or something like that) i have to agree it is quite dry and goes powdery but nothing a microfibre cant handle. then some extra gloss protection. no idea how it works but it really brings the metallic out in the 205 black. then go over all the plastics with bumper shine (even in a spray form) on a cloth to stop it getting on the paint work (again im not fussed by brand of this becoz its only for shows i bother) then some AG hd wax, if im going to a show etc. I've got some meguirers polish atm and its terrible, cant get i off, either on too long and it goes solid or not gone off and it just smears and looks crap.
  16. Turbo it! My friends had one (now actually a subaru justy 4wd) set of pistons injectors ecu. T28 from a 200sx and the usual bolt ons and your talking 250hp + his does 12.4 1/4 miles
  17. 1l metro clubman, as a feild car 1l micra automatic (exdemo) lol was my mums! Great car tho soo much fun Then My 1st car after a year in the micra was my sr
  18. Maybe the relay in the boot under the plastic trim which hides the wiper motor. Its a small blue box, not sure how they work, but I know if its not in there it wont work at all. Most toyotas of a similar age use the same one so might be able to test someone elses 1st?
  19. I've been told numberous times SR's and later spec n/a's come with 256's but mine didnt and a couple of others I've seen havnt either. i made the same mistake but luckily i work in a machine shop so just turned mine to size
