are you sure its not leaking from the thermostat housing?...was this removed and any point and maybe not resealed or/and tightened properly?
-
i've never heard anyone doing it..only the rare passing discussion...most just improve the baffling in the oem sump or buy an aftermarket baffled sump for track/circuit/sports purposes i'd imagine the costs may outweigh the benefits/logistics for our cars, or else someone would have done it by now but let's hear what the others say,,,you may get lucky

if you do change from the td04 after run in, ,,of the 3 last turbos you mentioned, i'd go for vf34

fresh built engine noise diag help - with video PARTLY SOLVED
gorganl2000 replied to goldenvtr's topic in Engines
by any chance did you put a "service" bolt in the intake cam gear before you removed it? normally with these type of builds where a thinner gasket is used and/or head/block skimming is done, its usually best to turn the engine by hand after reassembly just to make sure nothing is touching http://www.toyotagtturbo.com/forums/showthread.php?101103-what-s-minimum-space-between-piston-and-head http://www.toyotagtturbo.com/forums/showthread.php?97661-Non-interference-engine-proof&highlight=valve+clearance very interesting reading -
i'm cool sir i just found the tread you are referring to ...thanks
-
hey goldenvtr, how goes it boss so it turns without any piston/valve contact then? i think wossner are 6cc dish i wonder if using the stock 1.2mm headgasket will allow it to remain non-inference?---it should in theory?!
-
i've tried a search, but didn't find much. anyways, does using the thinner 0.5mm 5efe or 0.6mm trd headgaskets with forged wossner pistons allow for adequate pistons/valve clearance? and will this make the engine an inference engine or does it still remain a non-inference engine in case the timing belt snaps? and how about if stock 4efte pistons are used in the same scenario?

there are turbo gtx/gt options to fit the stock Subaru flanges -more costly http://www.atpturbo.com/root/releases/release063005.htm -cheaper http://shop.mambatek.com/main.sc do a search for subaru turbos..many varieties in gtx28 series (60, 63, 67, 71, etc) even on ebay you find mamba http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2050601.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.TRS0&_nkw=mamba+subaru+gtx2863r+turbo&_sacat=0

Wants cut out if you rev more than 20-25% throttle?
gorganl2000 replied to DRiiFTiE's topic in Ignition & Fueling
i'd suggest you do the diagnostic and let us know if you find any codes...will only take a minute then we can go further from there, as you have already done some stuff -

did u do the diagnostic? -
imo, i find the rarb and rear strut brace very good mods for these cars. the car just becomes much more predictable (even if creating a little bit of oversteer on lift off, which can be controlled by not lifting off approaching mid corner)...i'm a fan of the ultra racing rarb and trd/3 point rear brace like the others said..for handling its coilovers, tires, bushings, rear strut brace, rarb, adjustable pan rod, front lower bar a front lower bar is nice, but depending on the brand, how low your car is and where you live may touch speed bumps, undulating road, exhaust system, etc...if yo

not a clue where you would find such Stu, but could you probably modify the ones on there already or buy some cheap ones any modify to suit?

i was doing some research and its just seemed a bit weird that in some older posts that some just appeared to hone the block and insert the forged pistons---well for standard size 74mm....as opposed to going the machine shop route and getting a proper rebore to specs
-
cool colin ok, let's say a popular brand like wossner, what is the actual size of a 74mm or 74.5mm wossner piston? seems a lot of members use this piston in their builds and what kind of bore clearance is recommended on the spec sheet that colin mentioned?
-
thanks just always good to make sure...though i know each block must be machined to suit
-
i know forged pistons for our engines are advertised in 74.0mm/74.5mm/75.0mm sizes my question - is the advertised size the actual size of the pistons? or is it actually a little smaller and more like the stock size 73.90mm - 73.93mm?
-
looks good morgey...i think you should make it a reality even though you are pressed for time...i know R&D and testing would be needed to finalise the product which may cost you some time and money....but i think this would be a very hot item among the starlet/glanza and possibly tercel/paseo community.

Innovate Afr / greddy e01 / emb query
gorganl2000 replied to turbominicooper's topic in Ignition & Fueling
try moving the ground to somewhere else...just to see, as its not too much trouble and make it a proper ground spot -
is it possible to like weld on a plate, nut or bracket to hold the abs sensor in place on each side?---so you could use the existing axle

Innovate Afr / greddy e01 / emb query
gorganl2000 replied to turbominicooper's topic in Ignition & Fueling
hey..i'm not sure if this is any help, but i have an innovate mtx-l hooked up to greddy emu directly (via the cable) and have no problems with the readings my laptop/emu and guage display read the same does emb have a direct plug in port for the afr guage cable?...then you can just set it up on the emb directly if it does also, check to make sure your cable (0-5 volt) is grounded properly, as sometimes this can cause a variance in the readings.
