Yeah i wouldnt suggest turning it down if its all mapped an shit, just have a look see what its reading (if you can start the car to check it ofcourse ) My guesses are, cylinders flooding or EMB causing non start fault.

First i'd check what the FPR is set to, but if it looks right ie between say 2.5 - 3.2 for example then leave it. I'd unplug it and see if it starts ok on the standard ECU, but thats just me

Do you have an adjustable FPR ? Just a guess here, but could be set too high, running rich, fuel flooding the cylinders, would cause the difficult starting issue and your flames on gear change. Also has the setup changed since it was mapped on EMB ? If it was my car i'd disconnect the EMB and see if it starts ok then.

Are you keeping that engine or gonna drop a 4E in eventually ?

The plugs are totally different on the back, when i put GT clocks in my 85 i had to put a GT dash loom in aswell. It would have to be a 4E engine i reckon.

A HKS filter will probably just be a normal filter painted pink.

I can see why people dont want to take their very high power starlets out on track or kick fuck out the engine. I know that a good few people on here are 10 - 20 - 30 grand deep and the risk isnt worth taking. But personally i haven't spent anywhere near that and although an 85 is almost irreplaceable it will still see loads of track / drag / fast road action

If the buyer is as decent a person as you seem to be he / she should give you a few hundred quid more. I know its ebay and we all love a bargain but that is down right theft taking them for 255.

There was no spoilers really, you can clearly see the rocker cover and theres not that many engines which require a modified mount on that side. Ie gearbox being in the wrong way. Really interesting build Rob Although you shoulda just told us ages ago
