Nanglebadger
you are too kind man. there have been alot of helping hands in this car, I have been very lucky with my friends, and my brother. Jay, Nath, SiCaln, Rick, Harrison, WeeJohn, Alan D, my mechanic, my autospark, Geo, Joz, Idrees, Sparky, RIKO, the list goes on and on of those who have helped me along the way to get her where she is. It has by no means been an indivdual effort on my part.I think its just fair to say, UKSC has helped get the car where it is today.and Riko is being both a saint with the cambelt cover, and a PEST with his yahoo'ing!!!! the saucy minx!Phil. anup67
phil is their a reason you've kept the standard airbox?I no in an n/a its to keep some low down torque, but everyone with 4efte's just rip it out and get an open air filter lol
Nanglebadger
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmkay!Phil.
Nanglebadger
yes. there is.because the stock air box rocks. i have discussed this at length with Jay. The research indicates that the stock air box with an uprated panel filter is by far the best option in terms of induction. For a start, the factory will have done their own research, so it is unlikely that is of a shit design.Keeping an uprated panel in the stock air box also removes the problem of heat soak to an exposed cone. There is also no chance of boost creep or fuel cut from an uprated panel that u often get with a cone sticking out the front of the bumper.basically, the factory will have done their own research, and we decided to optimise this work rather than ripping it out for the sake of a shiny cone that would only lead to more problems.Im not very technically minded, so i'm hoping that jay will weigh in here pretty soon to back up what i have typed, esp if i have got something wrong above. i asked him about a relocation kit recently and he almost threw a spanner at me, so stock air box with improved panel is the way to go.there is a web article that reviewed all the major cone filters etc, i'll hunt it out later, or a search on here will find it, and u'd be surprised how poorly the likes of the HKS mushroom filter performed.hope that explains a little dude.Phil. Amjad
I know the test you're talking about Phil, the Apex'i filter came out on top with excellent filtrationWouldn't a relocated one be better though, if you do get boost creep you can port the wastegate and/or get a boost controller? I'm just talking in terms of achieving maximum power by the way I can see how a panel would be better for low end torque and response, I'd just think it's a bit restrictive top-end, as it is on my N/A
Jozinobi
I'll be sticking with the oem airbox and trd panel also broski. The only reason I'd remove it is if the airbox or the EFI pipe got in the way or it really became too restrictive for a future higher power setup.Joz
Amjad
Ooh so it's perfect for the tune of the car as it is now. Makes sense lol
