I also found that installing all Windows updates help as well. You could benefit from an extra 2gb of ram. It can be picked up for very very little these days. 2gb is a bit low for running Windows 8.1. Another thing I found was making sure your power settings are on high power instead of balanced or power saver. Anything below restricts the cpu usuage. If your not searching through files for emails and stuff you can turn off Windows search index which takes up a lot of memory.
