If you turbo it yes if its n/a not really. My car has 135whp and weighs 940kgs with fuel and full interior so some ep turbo brakes and decent pad/disc/fluid combo is fine unless you are tracking it. Upgrades with slight mods are - st185 celica single pots and some corolla d4d or astra 1.7 tdci discs fit - ae111 levin/trueno bzr twinpots and above discs Or the slightly more expensive option if you can find a set you can get direct bolt on kits like - ksport - wms - wilwood Some of the traders on here sell these brake kits.
  2. So have you done it or you are about to do it?
  3. Im always thinking about a change, but I've got so little left to do to get mine where i want it i cant bare get rid without doing them lol But that leaves the question of what do i want instead?
  4. Depending on car you may have a pollen filter than can be cleaned or replaced. That can be got at from under the glovebox. If you have you you'll see 3 little black mushroom shaped bits facing towards the back of the car. Pull them out then a panel pulls down and the 2 filters slide out. But if you dont have that im not sure of your options, the fan is to the left of that tucked up behind your glove box thats probably where id start.
  5. Smart looking car that, clean too, needs more lows doe
  6. Just the hanger on the box. The 82 uses 2 separate rubbers whereas the 91 generally uses a single one through a box and mounts on either end of it
  7. The external 044 sounds like a frigging dentists drill so guessing the intank ones are similar. How loud is a Bosch 044 fuel pump?: http://youtu.be/GNRvS8M_qa4
  8. Aren't they the livesport kit? Someone local to me used to have a full genuine kit on her V
  9. Nice to see it moving along, look forward to seeing it fired up again!
  10. Well i say no idea, its prob a junction box, it might have an auto off system in it?
  11. Pass no idea. And no idea what the other wires are for, prob a feed and return for the footwell lights if you have them.
  12. Id wire the red to the cigarette lighter wiring from the fuse box under the knee panel and the black to earth and see what happens. Not sure what the 3rd wires for. Maybe the under dash lights?
  13. I've seen a lot of people going for T series from K due to strength. Then if i remember they go W series after that for big power.
  14. Get a water gun nothing crazy just a basic one. Everytime its on give it a blast, it'll soon learn.

Nothing really cheap im affraid. Stuff to do whilst its out would be lightweight flywheel. Most other mods can be done fairly easily in car. I managed to swap my cams out for example. Some imec trumpets in the plenum maybe. Manifold etc can all be fitted afterwards
  16. Emb would be better and proably cheaper
  17. If youre really fussed waterless coolant. Much higher boiling point to water based. Reduces the possibility of hotspots within the combustion chamber and can be run at no pressure meaning better flow and less stress on components etc. However for a road car thats not really needed.
  18. Im confused. The add in the link is just for a standard uk starlet dizzy with internal coil. Still has a rotating arm and points just the coil cant be upgraded. The only oem upgrade is the jdm 4efe COP setup. Which would prob mean having to run the 4efe ecu which would be a no go on a 4efte without major work?
  19. 3sge?
  20. Agree with Marc, only running 180 and the extra confidence it gives you with cornering is by far the most noticable of any handling mod. Dread to think what some of these other high powered machines must be like
  21. Sometimes the lock rings dont hold them in that tight. Not much to worry about it shouldnt be able to fall out once the shafts all in place. As for seeing if its got an lsd. 10-12mm pin going across the hole is an open diff. Solid Plate or a disc with a hole in it or completely see through is lsd. Or theres the oem lsd with the cone on the outside of the box. That doesnt work on every LSD some require an input torque to lock.

Generally speaking yes. But if you want to try and make the stock driveshafts fit you will have to cut both.

You'll struggle to get it to fit with the 6 speed. My 5 speed is hard up agaisnts the inner wing and my crank pulley is half width to get it to fit without cutting the drivers side chassis rail.
  25. As above. Not the most potent of engines but ££ per hp they are the cheapest out of the lot. You could even buy the entire car for under £1k easily
