  1. Are the stereo brackets in the picture for sale? Can't see them in the list.
  2. I ran mine down to the ciggy lighter, can't remember why but there was a good reason.
  3. My box does this as well, I've been ignoring it as I can't usually hear it over the stereo anyway. Is it gonna kill the box if I carry on ignoring it?
  4. They can be a bitch, I got them by levering them out slightly with a flathead whilst trying to unscrew them. They're only clips, as well, not proper screws, so if they really don't want to come you can snap them with enough leverage.
  5. That's gonna be awesome. What internals are you gonna swap over? Haven't read too much into tubby conversions, guessing a lot of the FE internals aren't rated for that kind of power.
  6. +1 for Iddy, the speed he gets stuff to you is amazing and you know you're not getting knock off shit.
  7. If you're only using the current engine until you can afford the insurance on a swap, I'd just run the scrapheap 4e until you can do what you want. No point throwing money at an engine that you're going to ditch anyway. And if you need a base 4e for whatever you're planning (can't wait to find out, by the way), at least you'll have 2 to work with so you can swap parts over etc if needed. Sucks that you're having so many problems at the moment, really feel for you. It'll be worth it when she's running sweet again though
  8. Shit man, that's horrible. So sorry to hear it.
  9. Someone else was having the exact same problem not so long ago http://www.ukstarletowners.com/topic/85250-car-wont-accelerate/#entry1038146 Might be worth a look through there see if it's anything already mentioned.
  10. This. I had to tax my starlet 2 days after buying it in July, used the V5C/2 to do it.
  11. If I remember rightly, you have a week from buying the car to tax it and you can still do it at the post office. Still a rip as the gov gets tax for the same car twice in the month it's sold, though.
  12. Cheers guys. That link looks spot on as well, ECU and everything. Somehow I don't think he'll mind a 200cc size increase lol
  13. Does anyone on here know much about Hondas? My brother's got a 91 CRX that he's partway through restoring, and he turned 30 this year so I want to get him a VTEC engine as a present. Obvious answer is a B16A2, but those things are seriously expensive on the bay of e. Found one on gumtree for 350 but it's literally as far away as it's possible to be without going for a swim into the North Sea. Any other engine that might do? Or anywhere else that I could try looking for one?
  14. RCA output from head unit would go to the RCA in on the right. Speaker outputs on the right then go to the two speakers. The bridging thing is for if you've got one speaker in the back (or front), so you get both channels through the one speaker. Suppose you could hook up some kind of 7.1 surround if you wanted. Why not use it for the fronts as well? Bit of extra work, to be sure, but the sound quality would be so much better.
  15. Just remember to enjoy having your car before it changes. My friend had an RX7 and he went back to rebuild it because he'd driven it to the shops that morning and found it had changed into a horse-drawn carriage.
  16. Love the argument from authority there "My friend is an expert in exactly what we're talking about and he agrees with me" What a douchenozzle.
  17. Tbh, sounds a bit cackhanded to me. Awesome idea and I'd buy a drink for whoever thought of it, for sure. But surely if the whole idea is to eliminate turbo lag, they could use that same electric power to supplement the engines output for the first 2000rpm or so until either a) the throttle is eased off or b ) the turbos can kick in, then KERS the power back into a capacitor then use that to run the hybrid train next gear change until the turbos can take over again. Same basic concept except without having the engine be under constant boost. So much fuel saved over a month, even.
  18. Bio washing powder, spread it out over the oil and leave it. It'll absorb a boatload of it and get rinsed off next time it rains
  19. http://www.ukstarletowners.com/topic/65688-clock-conversion-starlet-na-to-starlet-sr-cluster/#entry1032227 Dead simple job.
  20. Textual update because I've got 15 minutes to kill before my lecture starts: I got a cheap bolt on tacho from eBay and stuck it in the A-pillar, looks awesome, especially at night when it glows the brightest blue ever seen on earth. Someday I'm going to get pulled for it being too bright, but not yet. The clutch finally went, pure wear on the plate. I've got a couple pictures of the plate that I took out that I'll stick up later, there's literally nothing there but bare metal. Nice Exedy one in there now, it's like night and day. Especially on the, er, private runway, added another 10mph to
  21. Thanks guys, she ended up 12th, which is good enough. She's so happy right now
  22. Hey, I don't normally ask things like this but... One of my friends is in a competition to go see some dude who I've never heard of play in London, and at the moment she's 13th out of 15 winners. If you could take literally 2 seconds and click this link, then as soon as it's loaded the YouTube page for godawful song close it again, I'd be really grateful. Contest is open until 2pm Monday the 29th, so it's really close to the wire Cheers Josh
  23. Sexy. Was there a noticeable performance boost with the new inlet?
