10's are still epic rich for warm up but you guys do have alot colder mornings than we do. But your right about idle, I usually try to tune aftermarket ecus so that idle/cruise is 14.7-15afr. 10's at peak load is a common thing with stock ecu's - I've seen that alot when checking setups running stock ecu's, even with hybrids. I'm sure the oxygen sensor only works in closed loop up to a point then swaps to open loop.

Had the car out again last Friday for the night meet at Meremere. I didn't have any time before the event to make any changes on the car other than swap the side pipe for the full exhaust, so its was the same boost/no vvt tune. While loading it on the trailer noticed an exhaust leak from the turbo area - found the turbo gasket had blown out, possibly part of the boost spike issues last time out. Eventually got to the track and ran a string of 13.2 & 13.3's but times got worse as the evening went on and the track got colder and the dew settled. Cut some good lights, 60ft's slowly dropping (2.0-2.1 sec) but still plagued with poor running up in the rev range. Think I've found the issue but more on that later. Really need to get vvt operating before the next event but time is short! Some awesome photos thanks to RL Photography NZ. There's three wires to a map sensor - stable 5v feed (VCC), signal ground (E2 or E21 pin usually depending on which series ecu) and the map signal back to the ecu (PIM).

Thats interesting. Do you have a stock fpr on it?

Are you checking the afr when its up to temp? Unless you've changed the base fuel pressure it should be exactly the same.

Sorry on my phone so don't have photos but if you have a look at the clutch plate carrier cage to the right of the photo above you will see the damage. The ramps are smashed and it's a part you can't get replacements for. There's another photo of it on an earlier page. Cheers!

Thanks! The new Cusco RS LSD for the 4agte has turned up - ordered it late last year! Now to find a donor c56 to fit it into. Last photo shows the old TRD unit that died a while back after years of faithful service. Couple of weeks to go for the next event, need to get back to tuning asap.

I have seen people use the K20 coils but I tend to use the 2zzge units. Coil on plug won't work with the stock ecu, your best bet is stand alone.

Yeah, the advantage of the clutch type is that you can set the preload which changes how the lsd engages. My last TRD clutch type was quite aggressive. I've never had a lsd setup knock before like people mention. I would talk to a few tuners if you can, get some pros and cons for different ecus and then make a choice. Link G4+ units in their various versions are excellent ecus and reasonably priced.

^this. Ive had helical, clutch type and locker now. All serve a purpose. Helical seems a soft ramp compared to my clutch type lsd, but that was shimmed up quite agressively.

Its just a case of using the right housings so that the gearbox bolts to a e series engine. EDIT: Its interesting looking a the ratio comparisons between the C56 and the C64. C56 A 5-Speed Manual Transmission for FWD and mid-engine cars. Compared to the C50/52, it features close-ratio 3rd-to-4th gearing. 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th Reverse Final 3.166 1.904 1.392 1.031 0.815 3.250 4.312 C64 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th 6th Reverse Final 3.166 2.050 1.481 1.166 0.916 0.815 3.250 4.529 Really short final drive, would be doing a fair few revs at 100kph!

They look good in there! Most of the time when I see those fitted the colour just don't suit, but they blend really well with your original interior - nice work!

E series boxes are physically much larger, you need to do some "manipulation" to make them fit. Plus they dont come with an e series bellhousing

Haha all good. Yeah try cleaning the throttle body out first, you need to take it off to do it. Make sure you put the water and vac lines back on the right way around otherwise you risk filling the engine with water.

That's my guess then. They are much softer acting lsd's than the clutch type unit

Stock c52 and c56 are very similar other than the c56 is a shorter ratio box. Both are pretty strong. C150 (EP71 N/A), C152 (EP71 Turbo), C160 etc are all lighter weight gearboxes
