Clutch let go, opinions/discussion.
5T4R7ET N/A replied to Beastmode panda's topic in Drivetrain & Transmission
sometimes the clutch can just let go out of the blue, but its pretty rare as it usually start to slip first. sounds more like a gearbox issue or slave cylinder dodgy to me. -
td04 are cheap, eaily replaceable and provide good power with not too much lag. Can easily run 200 - 250 bhp.

Best way to post a gearbox and rear axle
5T4R7ET N/A replied to _shaun_'s topic in Lifestyle General
i have sent a gearbox for £11 through UPS. made a wooden frame for it. was a 4efe box weighed in at 28kg. if your sending rear axle then you will have to look for someone who does large items cheap. paisley freight are ok for these type of things -
welcome. that would be a beast with a turbo on it.

the grass in the backround gives it away. pretty good idea but the seller wont get away with it.

if its thick white smoke, then you need to be worried. otherwise it will be condensation, more noticable in winter

I think the size of the bolt of the water line being 17mm?? can someone confirm, it needs to be short so you will need to cut the bolt. a lot of people dont run water lines with td04, its tried and tested. i guess its up to you.

if you have lowered your car doesnt matter springs or coilovers, and want it driving properly then get one and get the alignment done.

you need the control unit to make these work, these are basically defi unit's with TRD written on them, very rare.

only ting that put's me off putting a filter there is that it gets wet when it rains.

He said that the original colour is grey because who ever sprayed it left bits like the inside of the door in the original colour. the GT above in the " Red mica" doesnt look too bad
-
looks like a right bodge up. i wouldnt trust that many washers on a mount
-
the chances are that the battery is knackered, once they have been flat too many times they wont hold charge properly again. with winter kicking in I would just invest in a new one.

^^ as above, thats a pretty good explanation of what is reqiured for PCV valve. the breather on the right that has the PCV valve is completly different in terms of ventilation to one on the left. if you have oil around the PCV valve (breather on right) its most likely the bung that holds the valve is worn and letting tiny amounts of oil through. nothing to worry about

Need some advice - parts not arrived

^^ he should have given you the tracking number, that way you both can see whats going on with the courier. tbh it sounds dodgy, no tracking number, no card from courier. its your responsibility to get it off the courier or arrange to redeliver once they have tried to deliver the goods to you once. since he hasnt given you it, DEMAND it in your email. -
^^ with the engine bay pictured above, I believe you dont need a catch can from that breather. all you need is a filter. if you have oil coming out of the breather (one on the left) your pistons rings are gone. only excess air should come out of it. actually you dont even need a filter on there but it's helpful in stopping moisture getting inside the engine especially in winter. ( and its looks better)

retro looks and long wheel base (sounds like a nice drift car)
